Walking Club1 3miles 3x week

Thanks, Where'sPiglet! The blister is all better. I will take your advice on the socks. I'm afraid now that a blister is the least of my walking hurdles ... I fell today and either broke or badly sprained my foot/ankle. :headache: So, I'll be taking a break until this heals. :sad2:

Y'all hang in there and I'll be back with you as soon as I can. :thumbsup2

ouch! Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I did my 3 miles but had to slow down my speed to 2.8. I tried doing 3.0 and felt something pulling in my foot so i slowed down. Since my chiropractor adjustment on sat I noticed that this time my foot and right leg felt stiff so hopefully next adjustment will be better

oh no!!! I think you might be right. Anyone still out there?? I'm going to do my 3 miles tonight

I'm around! I subscribed to this thread, so it shows up in my UserCP.

I walked 3.4 miles on Monday and 3.0 on Tuesday.

I signed up for SparkPeople recently and I find it's easier to track on there. It's a free website to track fitness and nutrition, as well as get motivation and recipes and stuff.

I'm here. I had company for a few days, so haven't been on the computer. Sadly, I gained a pound this week, despite walking daily. So unfair!:sad2:

I use sparkpeople as well. It is a great site.

I walked 3 miles for my 14th straight day today. I am getting into a routine, but it takes everything I have not to skip a day.

Just popping in. I've been away and had sketchy (at best) internet. I'll catch up tomorrow.

Stay strong everyone!

Awesome job walking 14 days straight!!!

I didnt walk yesterday. My heel has been bothering me more since my chopractor adjustment :confused3 Anyone know whats good for plantar faciitis i think thats what i have.

Didnt get a chance to post earlier but I did walk my 3 miles today , well yester wed 7/13 . I had a difficult time. My right heel hurts more and my right leg felt tight and felt a nerve in my lower back. I had to reduce my speed even more down to 2.3 after a mile and a 1/2 I was able to move it up to 2.4 and thats the highest speed I could go. I';m hoping to go to chiro tomorrow so i hope it makes me feel better. It took me 1hr and 13 min to finish the 3 miles. Oh and after walking about an hour later I got a bad headache:confused3

I must, I must, I must keep walking:cool1:

I would like to join as well. I love to walk-we live in Northern VA so the summer heat can be quite bad-I usually try to walk in the morning-I will do walking for my cardio and let you know how I am doing. I am a teacher assistant so once school starts up the walks will be on the weekends or from a dvd.
Take care all-Elizabeth
Good luck everyone!

Are you remembering to drink plenty of water? Headaches are a sign of dehydration, so be careful. Also, just an observation, any movement is good. Don't push yourself too hard, because you want to avoid injury. I sometimes get some nerve pain in my hip joint, but if I keep walking slowly (2.5 mph) it generally goes away after about 10 minutes, but if I try to increase my speed, it can bother me all day.:cutie:

Just checking in with everyone-I walked about 3 miles this morning just under an hour. I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my right knee and it can act up so I did not push myself but enjoyed listening to my ipod to Aretha Franklin "RESPECT". I know people think I am crazy when I am boogying a little bit but the music is fun and I need to have fun to work out. Going to see Harry Potter tomorrow with DH and will cut the grass later today for additional calorie burn. I will try to get a walk in over the weekend but am thinking about Zumba as well. As long as we are moving, right?
Take care everyone and have a great weekend!
Elizabeth
PS. The endorphins are flying right now-I definately feel great after walking!

I'm still here. I had to take a break and let my foot rest. Its doing a lil better as long as I have my tennies shoes on with cushioned insert. I did my 3 miles today . I was only able to do it @ a 2.3 speed but I completed it. I dont want to push it with my foot. I have an appt on wed.

I can't wait to get back to walking. I'll be out of my cast in 3 weeks. I guess it will be baby steps for a while after that.

Went to the Dr. today. I do have plantar faciitis. The Dr. was behind so she was in and out . She gave me a few papers with exercises to do with it, dont me to take some motrin or advil. I asked about othopedic inserts she said yeah get some and that was it. It was so fast plus i had other issues so didnt ask how long does this last or if i should keep walking. The pain has been a lil harder to handle because it shoots to the back of my heel and up to the lil n=[bony area and it hurts when it shoots pain.

Has anyone had this? Should i ice it or put warm packs on it? Any tips? I'm so bummed because I really want to walk but now with the shooting pain s every now and then I'm worried i might fall off treadmill.

Maybe a call in to the drs office. You have some valid questions that deserve answers.

I still have 2.5 weeks left in my cast. I'm hoping I can start walking when I get it off, even if it is just a little bit at first. I was really enjoying the 3 mile walks.

Hang in there!

Well I'm still unable to do my 3 miles walk:sad2:

I've been reading online and didnt realize it can take weeks, month to year to feel 100% better. I'm so bummed. I really need to get better ASAP. I go back to work in 2 weeks dont know how I will get through the day

I walked 2 miles yesterday (from a video) and plan to do 3 miles today as the heat/humidity are intense here in Northern Virginia. I am feeling good and eating better but my clothes are still too tight. I really want to see a few pounds off before we go to Disneyland Paris next month-I want a comfortable flight as well as riding with ease on the rides. Hope everyone is doing well and taking care of themselves in this heat!
Regards-Elizabeth
I only did 2 miles as I did not want to aggravate my knee.

Disneyland Paris-awesome!!!! Hope you have a great time:goodvibes

I finally called my Dr. about the RX she forgot to give me for high blood pressure and allergy meds. I told her nurse I called right after my appt lastweek and never got a call back and nothing was called in. She said she was out and another nurse was covering her. I also told her that I have medical flex account and want to know if the Dr. could give me a letter so i can get reinbursed for massage therapy for the plantar faciitis otherwise It will have to come out of my pocket. I'm hoping the Dr. does it for me. My foot seemed better and it didnt feel horrible after running errands. DD even said i was walking better BUT as soon as i took off my shoe thats when i felt it. Theres no way I could walk on the treadmill for 3 miles. looks like i will start doing low carb eating and hopefully lose some weight that way. I'm hoping losing 10 lbs will take some pressure off my foot.

I really wish I could be on the treadmill or on the 3 miles walk with those of you who are still doing it. I was so motivated and feel sad that plantar faciitis is holding me back:sick:

Dreamin Disney-I also have had PF and it is no fun-I got a shot in my foot which did help. Just don't do high impact (ie running) if you can help it and ice it when you can. Also, stretch it by pulling gently on your toes towards your knee. That is what I did-it never truly goes away but it does get better if you take care of it. I did not work out today (light house work) since my right knee was bothering me. I am really trying to work on myself-plus I gotta color some of those gray hairs off my head. Ugh!
Take care and good luck-Elizabeth

PS. When did you go to Disneyland Paris? We are going next month and I am trying not to compare it to WDW or DL-just don't know what to expect.

The ortho inserts are helping. I went to back to work and I did better than I thought. I havent took off my shoe yet so we'll see . I'm did feel a lil discomofrt on my heel but I wasnt walking horrible like when it first started. Hopefully the rest of the week will go good. I think the adjustments and reflexology has been helping.

I've never been to paris Disneyland. I meant its awesome that your going:cheer2: I dont think I'll ever make it to paris...only in my dreams. But have fun for both of us :)
