Ooh I can tell this is going to a great TR :)
I am totally with you about the build up to a trip being soooo exciting
Sitting in the V Room knowing you have your whole trip ahead of you is a wonderful feeling :)

Wilderness Lodge looks beautiful. Can't wait to read all about it.

It is soooo beautiful - we love it! Thanks for reading.

Thankyou :thumbsup2 Hoping to write more tonight.

Looking forward to reading more :)

Looking forward to writing more! I'd thought originally that I'd be able to write it a day at a time....this is not happening - clearly I waffle way too much!

Agreed! I'm sitting here typing getting excited about even the idea of that feeling - how sad is that?!! :rolleyes1

Thanks for reading everyone - more later hopefully.

'Welcome Home!' :goodvibes
We were hot, we were tired, we were ready to relax and that greeting was just the perfect thing to hear. It was so exciting to be back at Wilderness Lodge...sooo exciting....did I mention it was exciting....??? :rotfl: That first moment as you walk through the front doors and into the immense lobby is just awe inspiring.

<a href="http://s1140.beta.photobucket.com/user/Scoobymoons/media/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/WLLobby.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/WLLobby.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo WLLobby.jpg"/></a>

You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to realise that this isn't a photo from that particular moment (it was taken in 2009 after having the opportunity to be Flag family - you go very very high up in the lobby - I did much clinging on to the bannister:eek:) but I couldn't find a decent one from this trip...what's that about?!!
We went to check in which all happened very quickly and smoothly. Much to our delight our room was upgraded from car park view (or whatever it's called) to courtyard - really pleased :goodvibes We went straight up to our room:

<a href="http://s1140.beta.photobucket.com/user/Scoobymoons/media/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/DSCF0554.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/DSCF0554.jpg" border="0" alt="3.8.11 photo DSCF0554.jpg"/></a>

I just think towel animals are fabulous!

DD was absolutely shattered (it was about midnight UK time) so we got her ready for bed - she then proceeded to take yonks to get to sleep - can't think why...:rotfl2: Eventually, however, knackerdness overtook excitement and she zonked.

<a href="http://s1140.beta.photobucket.com/user/Scoobymoons/media/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/DSCF0560.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/DSCF0560.jpg" border="0" alt="3.8.11 photo DSCF0560.jpg"/></a>

DH and I unpacked - we were determined not to live out of suitcases for 3 weeks - and then refamiliarised ourselves with WL. I went for a wander and headed down to Roaring Forks to buy refillable mugs and top them up with coke - ironically the server was from Glasgow and it felt very odd to have travelled for hours and hours just to hear a non-American accent...she was very lovely though. I then returned to our room and DH and I sat out on the balcony listening to the hubbub (how on earth do you spell that???) from the pool - gorgeous.

Sitting on the balcony is one of my favourite evening pasttimes (oh God, double consonant issues...hubbub, pasttimes....aaargh!!) Sorry, back to the plot...I just love being able to sit out in the warmth (even if it's raining) relaxing with a cocktail (more often than not :woohoo:) and discussing the day (or writing trip notes as it happened this time!)

<a href="http://s1140.beta.photobucket.com/user/Scoobymoons/media/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/DSCF0555.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Arrival%203-8-11/DSCF0555.jpg" border="0" alt="3.8.11 photo DSCF0555.jpg"/></a>

When DH and I were having the pretty much pointless, token conversation about where we were going to stay for this trip one of the biggest considerations and reasons for going back to WL was for the balcony - sounds ridiculous but when you've got a 4 year old who needs to go to bed relatively early, you need somewhere to go rather than sitting silently waiting for her to go to sleep. It took us a long time to decide to return to WL...at least 5 minutes....:rolleyes1

So, once we'd finished our cokes on the balcony :) I decided to go for another wander - DH had been for a wander as well previously - I popped into the Mercantile first and perused everything. I was looking at the ladies clothes when I suddenly heard this voice say:
"I'd like the red and white shirt if it didn't have Mickey Mouse on it."
I beg your pardon? "...if it didn't have Mickey..." WHAT??? Has this person made a terrible error? Do they actually know where they are? I think perhaps next year they ought to go for a hiking holiday in the Cotswolds rather than come to the home of MICKEY MOUSE..... I consider this sort of comment in the same sort of league as people who go to WDW and complain that there are a lot of children.....doh :headache:
Anyway, moving on...I didn't buy anything on that visit - plenty of time yet ! - and instead popped back to Roaring Forks where I refilled a cup with lemonade (USA lemonade, not UK lemonade) and got some chips (UK chips, not USA chips) and a Coors light and took all these back to the room.
It's probably worth mentioning now that we had got the free Dining with our trip so we had made oodles of ADRs and had loads of snack credits to use...shame!!!!

We sat out for a little while before heading to bed.

I'm just loving this trip report; thank you so much! Your writing style is very refreshing! It's Miranda-ish (that's a compliment BTW!)

Looking forward to more; forget the marking, write for us!!

Marking officially forgotten :thumbsup2

More very soon :goodvibes

SPELLING DISCLAIMER
I'm sorry for starting like this but I've had to make a deliberate spelling error. When typing the title of the Little Einsteins programme 'The Blue-footed Boooby birds', I was clearly being terribly terribly naughty and the computer corrected it to 'The Blue-footed ****y birds' ...oh dear...the spelling is deliberate...thank you :lmao:

Anyway, back to the real world....

DH, DD and I woke every hour during that first night....grrrr.... We eventually let a very excited little girl into our bed at...5.50!

I said in a previous post that DD would not be watching TV while we were away... I lied! Thank God for Disney Junior. At 5.50 in the morning we love Little Einsteins. DD spent a happy 20 minutes dancing away to the Ballet of the Blue-footed Boooby birds - brilliant!!!!! :rotfl:

<a href="http://s1140.beta.photobucket.com/user/Scoobymoons/media/WDW%202011/MK%204-8-11/DSCF0567.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/MK%204-8-11/DSCF0567.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11 photo DSCF0567.jpg"/></a>

The view was rather nice, if a little bit 'early' - in all honesty we didn't care two hoots what time it was - we were here! It was the first day of three weeks! Three heavenly weeks!!! :goodvibes Whilst the Blue-footed Boooby birds worked their magic, DH and I had coffee. Eventually we trekked down to Roaring Forks when we thought it was a more civilised hour... Roaring Forks gets quite a lot of bad press however we really like it - the food is good and we have never had problems getting seated - you do get queues of course but they really aren't that bad. So we got breakfast: DH and I got Bounty Platters and DD got Rice Krispies and a croissant.

<a href="http://s1140.beta.photobucket.com/user/Scoobymoons/media/WDW%202011/MK%204-8-11/DSCF0571.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/MK%204-8-11/DSCF0571.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11 photo DSCF0571.jpg"/></a>

Just checking....I did warn everyone that there would be vast numbers of food photos....didn't I...?? Don't drool too much though - it's not good for computers...;)
Anyway...
...once we had partaken of Roaring Forks' breakfast fare we had a bit of wander to remind ourselves of how blooming marvellous WL is.

The lobby (from a slightly lower, less frightening vantage point)

<a href="http://s1140.beta.photobucket.com/user/Scoobymoons/media/WDW%202011/MK%204-8-11/DSCF0569.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/MK%204-8-11/DSCF0569.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11 photo DSCF0569.jpg"/></a>

The geyser

The back of the hotel (you can just see the bear face - I love it!)

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=DSCF0574.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/DSCF0574.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11"></a>

Our balcony....did I mention that I love the bal....ok I'll shut up...

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=DSCF0577.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/DSCF0577.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11"></a>

Once we'd reacquainted ourselves with our home (happy sigh) we got our bags ready for a trip over to Magic Kingdom. :woohoo:

I love getting the boat over to the MK - it's so exciting but peaceful.

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=DSCF0583.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/DSCF0583.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11"></a>

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=DSCF0587.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/DSCF0587.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11"></a>

Again, I've seen it getting bad press but we have had no issues with the boat as transport...DD loves it too.
We arrived early and headed straight to Exposition Hall to the Mickey meet and greet. We thought the pictures in the queuing area were fab - really ingenious. And then we met THE MOUSE:

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=DSCF0601.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/DSCF0601.jpg" border="0" alt="4.8.11"></a>

:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Only just noticed what DH is wearing...a Thundercats TShirt...hmmm....not certain how appropriate that is. That's the second TShirt faux pas we've made in WDW. The first was in 2009 when it was commented on by a Cast Member that DD was wearing a traitorous Dangermouse TShirt....ooops! (Notice 3 'o's ...just incase...!) It was all done in good humour though.
Ok, back to the plot.
Once we'd had our initial Mickey fix, we headed onto Mainstreet where we noticed that Pinocchio had appeared and had no queue and as DD was on a mission for autographs and pictures, we took the chance while we could.

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=Pinocchio.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Pinocchio.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Once we had visited Pinnochio, we headed onto Main Street proper when the trolley dancers just happened to start their show. We've never seen this before so we stopped to watch.

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=TrolleyDancers.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/TrolleyDancers.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I loved this routine - we watched it many times during our trip - the blonde haired dancer always waved at DD - very cute. At the end of our stay we bought a Disney CD of music from the parks and the songs from this were on it....love it. Have to admit though, when we were watching it on this first occasion I was singing along 'Clang, clang, clang went the trolley....' when I suddenly found myself mute...DD had clapped her hand over my mouth...charming!!
Ok...so I'll stop singing...point taken!!!

:goodvibes I find it amazing how it is never possible to get sick of seeing photos - even if you have twenty versions of your own at home!! I love the boat ride - it's such a fab way of arriving at MK.

 In the words of a certain member of the Fab Five....Gawsh. Thank you. I love getting feedback from readers so you have made my day too.

So, once I had recovered from the shame of being silenced by a 4 year old and the trolley had gone, we carried on up Main Street. Prior to coming to WDW we had purchased the pre-paid Photopass CD. We researched it quite a lot and had read mixed reviews, however we came to the conclusion that it would be worth trying it on this trip. I'll definitely discuss this more as the report goes on as it was an important part of the trip. So, the reason for me mentioning this at this particular moment is that after wandering up Main Street we saw our first set of Photopass photographers. We had agreed when we decided to buy the CD that we would have to make a real effort to go to any photographer we saw and not fall into the '...oh, we'll go back to them another day...' trap. Well, we started as we meant to go on :thumbsup2

On to the rides...we started off over in Adventureland and went on a very empty Aladdin's Carpets (DD loves this, and Dumbo, and Triceratop Spin...spot a pattern?)

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=Aladdin.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Aladdin.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

followed quickly by Jungle Cruise - I really like this ride -cheesy jokes ahoy!

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=Poachers.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Poachers.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=Elephants.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/Elephants.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Then we pootled over to POTC - DD proclaimed this to be her favourite ride after our last visit (odd for a 2 year old...but hey, we weren't complaining!) - thankfully this time the ride went smoothly. In 2009 we had ridden POTC and got stuck very early on in the opening section where it's really dark and eerie, there are skeletons and sand - it was all very well but 20 minutes of "Dead men tell no tales...dead men tell no tales...dead men tell no tales...dead men te..." YES WE GET THE MESSAGE!!! We were somewhat worried about DD getting scared so we just kept talking to her....
"Look at the funny skeletons playing on the beach..."
"Do you think they're going to build sandcastles?"
"Ooh they're collecting shells in their buckets..."
" Can you see the seagulls?"
etc etc...
She was fine...unlike the great hulking skin head in front of us who started to get a bit shaky quite swiftly (not that I blamed him - if you had any type of claustrophobia then it was not the place to be.) Thankfully the boat restarted and when we disembarked we were given a Fast Pass for any ride - a little sweetner...!!
Anyway, back to 2012 ;) POTC was followed up by a trip to Pecos Bill's for a drink - the queue was painful - I am pretty certain that Christmas came and went and by the time we left DD was 2 years older :rotfl: Crikey, it was ridiculous...all for a Coke and water. This had led us into Frontierland and a big moment ....

Now, in the run up to the trip, in amongst all of the planning, one of the things that was really playing on DH's mind was DD's height - not medically you understand....but in terms of which rides she could go on....;) I swear he must have been measuring her every other day as if that was going to magically make her taller. pixiedust:
Well let me tell you now....if you ever want to get your DD to grow faster, measure her every day because it worked!!! We genuinely didn't think she was tall enough but just on the offchance we popped her against the measuring device in front of BTMR and dun dun duuuuun...she was tall enough! It was even confirmed by the Cast Member - double whammy :cool1:
Well this opened up an entirely new world of WDW rides - not only would DD be able to do the likes of BTMR and Splash Mountain but DH and I would be able to also ride them together - obviously on our last visit we had to go through the single rider lines or do baby swap so this was fab news on many levels!!! Whoop!

So, our immediate and totally logical response to this was to get a Fast Pass for BTMR ready for DD's inaugural 'tall person' ride. It wasn't too long before our return time...just long enough for a quick visit to Small World (brilliant as ever)

Then the big moment arrived and we were heading onto BTMR for the first ride as a family.

<a href="http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/?action=view&current=BTMR.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n577/Scoobymoons/WDW%202011/BTMR.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

DD screamed all the way round but then triumphantly pronounced it her favourite ride! Woo hoo - suck on that POTC!!!!! :yay::banana::yay::banana:

Really enjoying your trip report and what great news that DD was tall enough for the big rides.

Looking forward to your next day :goodvibes

Thank you both for reading - we couldn't believe that DD was tall enough - clearly a Uk tape measure is way less accurate than a Floridian one :thumbsup2

i think that works in the same way that there are no calories in food once you arrive in WDW , Walt made it that way :thumbsup2

sorry supposed to have quoted your remark, will get the hang of this one day !!!

WDW calories are the best - good old Walt!!! He really knew what we needed; calorie-free food and enormous mice....

so cool that DD was tall enought to ride :cool1:

she sounds like a little dare devil :thumbsup2

Seriously cool - she was thrilled too - she is an absolute fruit-loop - we're not complaining mind! :rotfl:
