Hello! We are leaving for our first DVC trip in 14 days! We are using a town car service and will be doing a grocery store stop but I don't want to get any perishables in case we won't get right into our rooms (I know they could probably put them in a fridge but I am funny about stuff like that...). I was going to order from the grocery service-just milk and cheese but I was wondering--do they have all the same stuff in the store at WL? If so, we may just pick it up ourselves... Why pay the $5 handling fee? Thanks for the help!

I guess I'm looking at this differently, but why use a town car when you can use ME for nothing?

Unless you're making other stops in the town car, I'd use ME and wegoshop.com. Just call wegoshop when you DO get to your room and they'll bring everything right over.

As another alternative, I think most of the resorts have refrigerated storage for precisely that situation.

I agree with JIMMIA. We were at SSR last month and used wegoshop on the internet . We used the free ME to get to SSR. wegoshop is an internet site that shops whereever you want and delivers the groceries to your villa. The cold stuff comes in coolers and it was very cold (even the beer). They were so kind and professional and even allowed me to change my order the day before we left. Also, they offered to make a second trip with 1/2 price delivery fee if we ran out or forgot anything.

Getting things at th eDVC's is fine except for limited choices and larger costs.

.

DH refuses to use the bus service. We did it for our first trip together in 99 and it was a really bad experience--rude, pushy people--long waits. He has said he wont go to WDW if we have to use the bus. He also refuses to stay at the all-stars. Bit of a snob, my DH is... but on the up-side, we always stay at nice places.
The refrigated storage is nice but I don't want the food out of refrig. for too long--that's my little oddity.
I was just wondering if the store has the american cheese for DD--one of the few things she eats. Comparing the prices, they are actually close to what we pay here in S. Jersey so I don't mind paying-I want convience.

No waiting, direct service, more comfortable, easier with wheelchair

That said we are now renting cars for the above plus enhanced flexibility and freedom to go about as we want.
