Does anyone know if I can use my disney reward points to pay on my DVC loan. We came back home with points left. I have heard you can pay the annual dues with the points. Nancy

I know they can be used toward yearly dues payments. I'm not sure of the mechanics of how to get it done.

Your best best is to call member services accounting to see if you can put the points toward the loan payment. I know for sure that you can pay your dues with the points, we just did it about a month ago.

:wizard: :3dglasses I called on Friday to make a loan payment on my credit card, and you can't do that unless it's an extra payment. Maybe your reward points will work the same. Member Accounting is different, in that they don't volunteer information. Keep asking questions until you feel that you have had all your questions answered fully.

Thanks everyone. I'll call accounting and get back to all of you with the answer. Nancy

How does the reward points work for paying dues? Do you get one point for every dollars spent? Does 700 points pay for 700 dollars in maintenance fees?

Mike

You get 1% back on purchases, so for every $100.00 you spend on your credit card you get 1 "point". You call the credit card company to redeem the points and in about 2 weeks they send you a debit card with your dollar points on it to use as you wish at Disney. I paid off some of our dues with it al little while ago. Every little bit helps! I just wish the card was more competative with the points compared to other cards. I know on one I was getting dollar for dollar and on another one 5% back.

700 reward dollars/points will pay for $700 of maintenance dues.

However, as already posted, you must charge $100 to get 1 Reward Point. Also, I believe there is a maximum of 750 reward points awarded per year.

Best wishes -

Thanks, guys. I knew it had to be too good to be true. I'd have to spend 75,000 to pay off my dues! AE rewards is a much better value.

Mike

What is AE rewards???
We currently use the Disney Reward Visa card and make it a point to pay it off each month. We put EVERYTHING on this card! 1% is a very small return but it does seem to add up. It is nice to have some type of return on my money and at least it goes towards something the whole family will use. We cash in on our rewards every other year and it usually gives us around $600-$800 towards our trip, which is nice because we prepay the park passes and we are DVC members (room paid for) so this pays for our meals and FUN money for souveniers.

What other cards are out there? What do you use? Are there better options?

You can use Disney Reward Dollars to make additional payments on the principal of your DVC loan. I did this yesterday over the phone with Member Accounting (and the payment showed up on the DVC member website today).

Brian I just spoke with member services accounting and they said I could not pay on the principle with my rewards card, only my dues could be paid with the rewards card. Did the transaction go through, could you check your balance on the rewards card and let me know. Nancy

We had $336 in January, and since we've built up another 400. We were gonna pay off our maintenance fees, but we decided to just pay for our dining plan. It's the same money.

The DVC website allows you to pay off your entire loan in one lump sum using a credit card online. For smaller payments, it says to call MS. It sounds strange that they would let you pay the whole thing but not part of it?

My first payment is coming up in the next couple weeks, and I'm planning on making a lot of extra payments (hope to pay the 10-year off in about 2) and it'll be a pain if I have to call MS every time! And hopefully I can get reward bucks.

The web payment functionality is pretty new, so I'm hoping that they'll add the ability to pay smaller payments (ie, not the entire remaining balance) towards the loan soon, that would make things nice and easy.
