Due to public outcry and suggestions, they are making July 4th "Day One"....

It's on the homepage....

heh, awkward right. I can't knock them for doing what I suggested but pushing it out just a week AND saying they are right on schedule?????

deep breath... Thanks VFK you made the right decision?!?!?!?!

OK someone else take over I feel faint :faint:

@_@

oops, I just couldnt do it.

let me help them with what release candidate means.

The term release candidate refers to a version with potential to be a final product, ready to release unless fatal bugs emerge

I do wonder if the person who updates the web page just doesnt have a clue or if they really collectively try to distort what is actually happening.

The good news is I dont have to log in there today :cool1:

I think it is a wise choice to move the date out...but they are now committing to a July 4th opening....sorta...it's really not a release now, but a "release canditate"...with more gamma's, deltas, Lamda-lamda-lamda's and....Omega-Mu's...test periods to come....I think they could have worded it a bit better so as to give themselves more leeway if they aren't ready for the RC release on the 4th. But, sometimes you just have to put a stake in the ground and drive for it to get something done...nothing like a deadline to spur people into action, LOL.

OT:5 bonus points for guesing the reference...:woohoo:

i really think that during the days that we had NOTHING new.. the devs were working on something else. For example, when we got the trading system one day and then the next 3 days nothing, they were probably working on SEVERAL new features to release.

Yeah before the audubon game was released there were no updates for
3 or 4 days and then the game came out.. And then there were no updates
for a couple more days and then shopping and furniture to buy came out..
and inventory. Now I know the next game is coming out July 4th but
maybe more big things will come out today. Did you notice the date did
actually change today :O. Possibly sitting down? More furniture? Map? Motions?
Menu button?

cyre, your room looks great! Love it!!!

Oh drat:( And we were all looking forward to "Report Aengus Day". Looks like we will have to postpone it until next month.

You're right - there go my plans for the day. :rotfl2:

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! next month yes, but thats next week.

if you see me running from room to room very quickly its to try to avoid being reported ROFL

ETA: oh and Ned, dont let them tell you what a RC is, look it up for yourself. They are trying to make it sound like its a beta period but its not. Release candidate means they expect it to be the Gold version unless major bugs arise.

I agree with this and have no problems with it. HOWEVER, how do you release quests where people have to go throughout your Kingdom without a map when you KNOW your exit spots are a breeding ground for yelling and fighting because people can't move?

They managed to cut off a bug that gave free extra credits within 1 day, but other things that would seem so basic to have before opening a game (much less end beta) still don't exist. This is my frustration. It's just too difficult to play.

Then, in a game where nothing changes for a week (which is okay), they release a red beach ball for 1 day? sigh

I REALLY want to love VFK, but I can't love a game as my stress relief fun zone when it stresses me out to do anything in it.

I've decided i'm not going to play this game like i did vmk. I'll get the things I enjoy having, and not care about the virtual future. Not saying that's what you're thinking, it is just how i've decided to play this game. Hence my trading my quest items for purple crates. I just don't care. lol.

I agree with both of you. They opened their first quest, and I didn't know about it until I went in to work the day it closed. Their second quest ran entirely while I was at work. The third quest I started a half hour before I went to work, thinking I could finish, and there were questions I couldn't even google! I got it done when I got home from work though :thumbsup2

But I really don't like the fact that they've given so many promises (already) and have broken them. Where's our map? Running around the whole place looking for "a house with a porch" (BTW there is not just 1) was a bit ridiculous.

Perhaps VFK seems to think they have a very forgiving "fan-base" but what they don't realize is that many of us keep coming back for our friends only.
I know that's why I'm there.

and what does one do with 53 purple crates??

 I'm happy that you finally got purple crates (even though it's not in a better game). I knew you were waiting for them in VMK. :cool1:

In some ways I agree with you, except....
You ARE playing in a similar way. You had the very wanted quest item; therefore, you were able to get your purple crates. That's EXACTLY how trading works. All those who couldn't complete the quest would LOVE your prize that you got.

But, yes, I know what you mean in terms of not getting carried away with "collecting" and just getting what you really want.

I too love the purple crates. Just wish I could build something with them.

Cyre, it's funny -- I'm feeling the same way as you are about vfk. After being on there just a few times, I've decided that this truly isn't the game for me. :(

Yep. :( And it almost breaks your heart, huh?

Yes, it's sad to say, because so many friends are there. I've devoted some time and I did enjoy myself, but I had to force myself to stay there. I can't imagine myself staying on for 8 hours straight again, whereas I used to stay on VMK more hours than that.

It's still the early stages, so I will keep my eyes open to see what happens. Since nothing they do will bring them up to VMK status, for me, this game still won't be in the same league...

Well, VFK is getting on the right track. They had enough sense to push it back a little bit. Key word being "little". Are they going to push it back a week at a time until they hear that the players are okay with the game coming out of beta?

Hugs cyre! I love your purple crate room.
We are also taking this game on in a new way. We have taken VMK's closing and used it to re-evaluate our online play. It has been a blessing in a way. We are also focusing on the things in this game we like and also giving things away when we can. We have been playing the quests as a family with the kids and it has been so fun. We even had an ice cream party after the ice cream quest.
We are also getting better sleep and have been able to spend less time online. We still love to get on and spend time with friends and play the game, but after VMK closed it changed our view of playing these kind of games. We were guilty of many times getting too wrapped up in items and quests - All for things to just disappear. :worried: So now we figure we will play to do the things we enjoy and be with friends we love to be around. :goodvibes
Hugs everyone - hopefully we will see some of you around the kingdom.

Off to bed, we have a busy day tomorrow. King and I are attending a home school conference. Fun and shopping! :cool1:

Yep, I wouldn't have done this in any other game but I have given away
a total of around 150,000 credits to those who wanted items more than I did,
because I got so much credits from the game. I'm still on often, it's still hard
for me to understand that vmk is gone and all. But I'm trying not to get caught
up too much! But I do think this is the only game that appeals to me so far,
elf island looks fun too :)
