Violence and racism has no place in VMK

I think every vmk player has a sense of what is right and what is wrong. I couldn't believe what the players said to you when you told me yesterday on the pirate dock.
Mal I took like 4 screen shots of this so called fellow Dis member. Unfortunately because of anger only this one remains.
Ppl you wont see what he says to me here in this screen shot. He is circled in red. I can tell you exactly when this started with this guy. When Scooterjake (brother) and I got back from vmk central and met Yavn, and yavn gave Scooter and I inferno. THAT is when this started. So its all out of jealousy, imagine that. Some guy is controlled to hurt others only because of stupid virtual items. I posted our trip here and mentioned getting infero....not to brag but to show what a nice guy Yavn is in spite of what I read ppl say about him on the boards. Another story huh.
That is when this guy started to target myself and Sweet on vmk. The things he calls her is horrible to, and has the nerve to call me a so and so black cowboy. PPl forget there is a soul behind that little avatar and that little avatar was created as close to me as possible. Yes I am dark that is why that cuts so deep.
So ppl, pls dont say you dont see the comments from him, I have seen them to many times. Plz dont tell me to ignore, I've ignored until Im blue in the face. Plz dont tell me to report, it does no good. Maybe vmk likes a balance of good and evil.
This is why I get so angry when I hear ppl worrying about ppl pretending to be animals, or playing virtual house, or TAKEN! There are so many other hurtful things going on in our disney kingdom why worry about those things? Funny I have always sort of looked out for the under dog, took up for those players and now one comes around to bite me in the but every time he sees me and I do mean every time.
Mal thank you for letting me vent here. Your a very good person. I hope they catch your little bandits and boot them in to another kingdom.

You and Jake are two of my best friends on VMK. I'm so glad you can bigger than the other little nothings that act the way they do. You are the better person for ignoring and just blowing off what the little you know what says. I'd like to know if he would act that way if he ever saw you in real life, no little virtual person to hide behind.

You are a kind and awesome person who I have only met through the boards. Stay true to you. I don't really care what color you are, just be you no matter what.

It's really disappointing to see such violence and hatred in a virtual game. Especially a Disney virtual game.

I'm also really disappointed in the DIS person who is spouting off hate to all in VMK.

I've encountered racism in VMK. Not towards myself, but towards others. If and when I see this kind of behavior, I am always quick to defend the person being attacked. I will tell the person being hateful to please be nice and that their kind of behavior goes against VMK values. If a person is being attacked for being a certain color, I always change to that color and say "being .... is cool!"

If a person persists in being hateful or violent, I will report them immediately.

I try to remember that it's proabably a little kid who hasn't been taught to embrace those that are different from themselves. This society, as it gets more diverse, it also gets more homogeneous. Everybody, ultimately, has to be the same and like the same things and behave the same way. If you don't, then you're an outsider and not cool. Unfortunately, that's part of what VMK actually promotes.

I was in a room that looked like NYC (actually, it did look very cool with billboards and herbie couches, etc. Anyway, someone said that they were going to bomb the building and then they said they were going to fly a plane into the building. I told them that it was wrong and hurtful to say that and I had friends who didn't make it from that day. They kept making jokes and saying that they live in the city that it happened, so big deal.

I reported and waited around to see if anything happened. I don't know what happened. My jaw just hit the floor. I couldn't believe it. What was even more disturbing is that people were actually "lol" here and there. Who are these people who think that was funny? It's puzzling.

The person who made that room did a really good job. I just wished she would have booted that guy or at least said to cool it. Her reply, I believe, was that it was "just a joke".

Oh...my...goodness!!! I'm sorry, that just makes me angry. This event had a huge impact on my life. I came home after school from near the beginning of my school year, and went upstairs to see my mom crying. I remember being really scared, and always worried that something was going to happen. Not long after, our whole district got bomb threats from somewhere in Rochester city. It created fear in many of us, and I am one of the people greatly effected by it... This just plain makes me want to personally ban them from the game! It's not right to say ANYTHING that unthoughtful.

Just my 2 cents, sorry for the rant.

I actually doubt it - the "intelligence" of what is said is usually rather profound - I would purport that it is coming from a teenager/young adult who simply likes to say hurtful and hateful things from behind a computer screen. He is probably a target himself, or as very low self esteem and must hurt others to "feel better"

exactly and sad because most have gone out of their way to be nice to this person. Not the case anymore he/she has just been too mean to too many.

Rob and Mal, I am extremely sorry about this. I am very, very disappointed in the DIS member that has been treating you both so poorly, and I can't imagine being in your places at that time. Knowing myself, I would probably want to use "the red words" .

Anyways, I also wanted to say that I have experiences racism on both ends; not only have I seen it pressured upon other players, but on myself as well. Once I was in a room where a girl said "no blacks aloud" (yes, with the spelling error). That was one of the most idiotic, callous remarks I have ever heard on VMK.

Now as for the racism against me, I have purposely changed my skin color to pink to see if I would get any racist remarks. I did. People would say things like, "Why are you pink?", and I would simply answer "because it's cool".

For everyone else who has personally been racially attacked in VMK, I give you my deepest regards and grief. No one should ever have to go through the pains of hearing this.

I get questioned about why I'm pink on a near daily basis and I either say "because I can be" (with a smile) or that it's my sunburn. In fact, my signature says "You'd be pink too if you spent too much time in the sun." Usually they call me ugly after that. I tell them I think I'll live. That pretty much is the end of it.
But I have heard nasty comments. One girl asked me if I was pink so I could cover up my ugly black tone. It's disturbing what these kids or so-called "adults" say in this game.

A little while ago I started a thread about a player who was not very nice to me when I would not trade my Sparrow. I checked and found out this player was Dis. Your comment was that you were sure who it was as you had problems with this same player even though I did not mention any names or gender. Just wanted to let you know that you were correct. I did not know how bad this could really be. But do remember this person is only one small part of our community here and on VMK.

Friends let's not let things like this ruin our experience on vmk. Theres many rants against so many things, I do it myself (pirates TAKEN arg). But think about all the friends we made on vmk and dis, alot which are in this thread alone So when the smoke clears, we have alot to be thankful for.

With so many different personalities thrown into one "world" such as vmk, how can we not get the same life experience as we do in our 3-D world? We aren't born with hatred, or prejudice or even fear its something we're taught growing up.

Walt Disney said it himself : "I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter. "

I have every right to post that pic. It is not incriminating anyone in any way or Mal would have removed it Im sure. She, like the others are fair and honest Moderators. I said nothing bad about anyone directly. And if I did then I will accept my punishment as one day he/she will accept theirs.

Now maybe we can get back to vmk.
