Thanks for sharing this!
There are threads filled with 10yrs of grievances. My goal was a list of changes since last year -- a very common question. No harm in that.
I think I included everyone? Here is a list for what has changed from 2013 and 2014. Let me know if I missed anyone?Same Characters on offer from 2013 7 Dwarves Captain Jack Sparrow Aladdin, Abu, Jasmine and Genie Jafar (moved from Main St to Adventureland) Tarzan, Jane and Terk Winnie The Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet Alice in Wonderland and The Mad Hatter Mickey (wearing Halloween outfit. During later parties in 2013, he would appear in regular day outfit) Boo, Needleman, George Sanderson and Sulley (Dance Party in Tomorrowland) Lotso (moved from Main St to Tomorrowland) Buzz Lightyear Donald and Daisy Minnie Mouse Jack Skellington and Sally Goofy Following Characters appear in identical outfits as during the day during the party Ariel Gaston Merida Tiana & Naveen Tinker Bell (previously met with a Fairy Friend which has been removed) Changes/Additions of Characters from 2013 Queen of Hearts (meeting with Alice and Hatter. Previously only at Mix and Mingle) Aurora and Snow White in Fantasyland (previously met in PFH with their Princes) Frollo (only appears at Club Villain or Soiree. Previously at Mix and Mingle) The Tremaines (only appears at Club Villain or Soiree. Previously met on Main St) Dr. Facilier (only appears at Club Villain or Soiree. Previously at Mix and Mingle) Captain Hook (only appears at Soiree. Previously at Mix and Mingle) Cruella (only appears at Club Villain or Soiree. Previously at Mix and Mingle) Removal of Characters from 2013 Flynn Ryder Prince Charming Snow Whites Prince Prince Phillip Maleficent (excluding Soiree) Queen Grimhilde/Snow Whites Queen (excluding Soiree) Woody, Jessie and Bullseye New Characters in 2014 Anna and Elsa (meetable during the day) Queen Grimhilde in Hag Form Governor Ratcliffe (appeared at Club Villain 9/1)

So revised... Actual changes from last year:
- 4 princes gone for EVERYONE
- 2 party villains now ONLY on stage for MNSSHP tix guests - both of them at the soirée
- Hook only at soirée
- some now at dance party but NOT guaranteed to be posing for photos at all -- not "meet-able" in traditional sense
I agree. Look at it this way. Imagine that in 2015, Disney started charging $20 per person for evening EMHs and to justify the cost, it added in a dessert party for all who paid to get in. People grumble, gripe, but pay it. Then, in 2016, they charge the same $20, but added a special $30 VIP pass on top of that which would grant you access to the Mountains and the A&E meet and greet area, which would be closed off to people who didn't buy the extra pass. Now, I suppose families who don't ride the Mountains would not see this as a reduction in value of the base $20 ticket price. But for those who do ride the Mountains and want to see A&E, this change would cause a tremendous decrease in value. When it comes to MNSSHP, to many people, the Villians are their Mountains, so to speak.I disagree with this. Last year we attended the party for the regular cost of the MNSSHP Ticket.
We met Flynn Ryder, Prince Charming, Prince Phillip and Snow Whites Prince. All four of them have been removed now.
For villains we met Maleficent, Doctor Facilier, Captain Hook, Cruella Frollo, Snow Whites Queen. Unless we pay an extra $99, we can only meet some of them at a dance party where we can't even get good photos since they don't actually pause for photos.
This is a significant reduction in value for us as we go only for the villains. If I have to pay an extra $99 for a rushed dessert party, it's no longer worth it.
Hook and Frollo are also onstage for MNSSHP guests as well as the soiree.

The DIS review made no sense to me. I didn't understand what he was complaining about. I don't think 1 hour is rushed at all. Obviously they can't let everyone linger as long as they want. The party has to end sometime. I can't imagine I would want this event to go on longer than an hour. Then he complains that he spent 4 hours on this event out of a 5 hour party. I don't understand that part. 4 hours doing what and weren't you just complaining that it wasn't enough time? Well, I will be at the next party. Can't wait to check it out. It's interesting hearing 2 totally different viewpoints on it.
Question... There are only 2 of us going to the party and we want to be in the pictures with the villains together. How can we accomplish this? Is it acceptable to just take selfies with the villains?
I also don't understand. We were there and didn't feel rushed. We knew it was an hour from start to finish and our experience was full. To answer your question, we did take selfies, but there were escorts there who offered to take our picture for us.
Personally I think what you are getting for a basic MNSSHP ticket has been greatly diminished. I've been attending every year since the first one and each year it feels like less and less. This year the take away princes, add the 2 Villians, then take them away sounds very underhanded. Honestly I never had anything to do with the Mix & Mingle that was my signal to go the other way and hit something else, but that doesn't seem fair either to remove yet another opportunity for anyone interested.
Full disclosure: I am attending the Soiree' and initially balked at the price and was dragged kicking and screaming to break out $100. + bucks. Reading reviews, looking at Twitter last night, and then Pete answering me about pictures with the villains in the entry way and then upstairs, I am happy we are doing it. I have some knowledge now and just have to make a priority plan for the night.
That being said, If I was only attending MNSSHP I would be pretty ticked off.
Curious about something... knowing all what you know now, would you choose -- IF it were possible to pick between these two offerings (which it obviously isn't now!):
1) $60ish for the 2013 MNSSHP experience OR
2) $160ish for the 2014 MNSSHP + soirée experience
I understand. If I was only attending MNSSHP I would not care at all about the changes, personally -- so subjective, and depends so much on why we each buy a party ticket to begin with.

IMO, telling people that their complaints or concerns place them in the minority is very dismissive.
Every time I read a post where someone says that people who think like XYZ are probably in the minority, I want to scream.
Personally, I'd choose the 2013 MNSSHP experience. We had such a great time and with some planning met everyone we wanted to.
The Soiree wouldn't be great value for us. We don't care much for the Boo To You Parade or the HalloWishes fireworks. We would possibly skip this part entirely.
For me it would be option 2 ONLY ( and is ) because like I said I have been going forever. Some years to 2 parties. New and different experience works for me especially now that I know what to expect.
Still think they could have thrown in that LE MB![]()
