Video of Pluto chasing a kid

Since this incident didn't go "public" from Disney Officials, a "conerned parent"'s attorney's office, or a news source, we can safely assume that this incident wasn't made into a public spectacle. The person (or people) involved may not have tried to seek action here, or approach Disney here (we just might not have heard about it, but it seems lately we're hearing about EVERY person who wants fast $$ from Disney).

So....since no statement has been made public by either side, there's no way of telling what's actually happening. We all have our opinions, but we will never know all the facts, or all the truth here.

This is so true! We will never know untill the truth comes out!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I've seen this video now on several websites...
Myspace
ebaumsworld
break
etc and no one knows what happened???....:confused3

if you rewatch the video I think Pluto and the kid were playing because if you watch after the lady starts pushing Pluto the little boy (in green shorts) circles back to look for him. I would think if Pluto was really chasing him that he wouldn't come back for Pluto. I think the lady didn't know what was happening and OVERreacted. She was wrong, no right to push him down.

It really doesnt look like she pushed him but was just a flick of her wrist and he mis-stepped on the curb.

I don't think a little flick of the wrist could do that.

that could be true. Although towards the beginning there's a scream that sounds like a kids. also i think there is a CM standing in the middle of the circle that pluto runs in, and he seems shocked...
I heard the scream, and to me it sounded like a shreik of fun. The kid also circles back to Pluto, and I don't think he would do that if Pluto was chasing him out of anger.

*nods head* I agree.

I personally think it was a combination of both, Pluto just took a wrong step and lost balance at the same time that woman sort of gave a little push.

Here's my take:

Pluto and kid are having fun, running around...

Crazy lady sees Pluto, wants picture of Pluto, grabs him as he goes by to stop him and demand photo taken.

Pluto stops because someone has grabbed his costume.

Crazy lady gestures/shoves him to where she wants him to stand, but since he is near the curb, and a bit taken aback by her rudeness, he falls at the curb.

Crazy lady takes his photo, as he is sprawled on the ground.

Pluto is still a bit surprised she was so aggressive, points it out to other guests to make a point of how inappropriately she acted.

Pluto has had enough and gestures with his palms up that he's done (and to go check to make sure he's OK)

i dunno why.. but..

this is all covered in the much larger thread on this...

there's no reason to believe they're having fun at the beginning, especially because you know there's more to it than the video shows.

if they were running around like that, in town square, pluto should be fired for running at that speed, with recklessness in a busy area. you even see pluto pushing people away so he can get through (i have frame captures on the other thread)

props to the benny hill remix though.

I am with those who think Pluto and the boy were playing. I think it was dangerous to be running so fast, but they were both in the wrong for that. I believe if Pluto was "CHASING" the boy maliciously the parents would have been in the picture. The woman who stopped him may have been pointing out that someone was going to fall and get hurt, but I don't know why the push or flick or whatever it was.

Pluto is MAD! He is not playing:)

How can anyone tell that he is MAD with that costume head on?

Being as nothing came out in the news and the kid seemed to come back for more instead of hiding my unofficial opinion is that it was all in good fun.

It hardly looked like she hit him hard enough to knock him down. He is pretty big in that Pluto costume. Then again I wasn't there.

I find it very amusing how everyone says pluto "looked" mad. I assume you mean by his gestures, because his costume face does not change as he gets mad, sad and glad.

I just posted on another thread about this. I think it was in fun. Dangerous yes malicious no. If your child was being attacked by any character, would you not be right there after pluto? Not just standing waiting for him to pass you by so you can repremand him? And people are definately laughing. I would say that ANY adult who saw Pluto running after a child to what?? attack him?? MOST ADULTS would stop Pluto in his tracks not take his picture and laugh. And there were many adults around, including CMs. The whole attack thing just doesn't add up. I mean truly, what was he going to do with him when he caught him? I can't imagine any kid doing anything so upsetting to a character to make them try to attack him/her.

Maybe I am wrong, but I vote for all in fun, until the woman intervened. And no it isn't because I would stick up for Disney no matter what, it is because it is what adds up better.

WOW, I love this board to death but come on people Disney can be wrong sometimes! MOST of the replies on here are all about poor pluto or that kid had to do something like kick or pull on his tail. The kid could have took a marker out and stated giving pluto his john hancock for all we know. DOES THIS MAKE IT RIGHT FOR PLUTO TO RUN AFTER A CHILD??? None of us know what happened in this situation and for all we know they could have been playing around and it was all planned out. As for the woman, she def did NOT push him down, pluto simply turned around and missed the step due to his poor vision inside the costume.

The lady DID push Pluto, which caused him to fall off the curb. Your  *idea* that he missed the step due to his poor vision inside the costume....would be a good assumption if Pluto hadn't been running in a circle, and dodging a wheelchair that was parked in front of the Emporium. It was a game. The lady thought she knew what was best for someone else's children and butted in. I'd bet that the reason nothing ever came out of this video is because after talking with the kid and his parents, the truth was that they were playing and the woman pushed Pluto, end of story. It's not like Disney would hunt this woman down or something.

I believe this was taken in DL, which means there probably was no character attendant. And Pluto was not playing around.

There are no character handlers at DL????

I would have assumed they were playing since no CM stepped in but if there wasn't a CM around....but how could they let the characters roam without a handler - all kinds of things could happen - and they can't even see that well from inside the costumes.

there's a really small percentage of handlers/attendants at DLR compared to WDW. characters are handled differently altogether there. when there is a formal line, there's an attendant to keep track of time, but characters are often found roaming on their own with noone to assist them.

a lot of it stems with the idea that DLR caters to locals who visit the parks fairly often so most are accustomed to characters. it can be a big challenge to get an autograph or photo there as you're often battling people who just decide for themselves that they come before you.

here's an example that really doesn't show itself well, but one day at DCA... here's Mulan, who had no attendant

and in the background, you can see Jojo.. also, no attendant

and catching up with Jojo.. no attendant, right in the middle of the 'street'.. she was just walking around

Oh gosh . . . it's Tigger all over again!!! ;)

I think bradk's breakdown is accurate - seems to be what's happening. Pluto is wearing a blue collar - that's what he wore @ Disneyland for the HCOE, so you have to remember that this was over a year ago - HCOE ended in Sept '06. Well it took Tigger a matter of days to reach 5:00 news. Since it's taken Pluto over a year, I doubt there's going to be any major hubbub or suing going on. There have been several times I recall characters w/out CMs, even at WDW and DCL.
