Today's movie-based-on-a-book is Freaky Friday. This one was news to me! I didn't know it was a book originally, released in 1972 by author Mary Rodgers. Disney has actually made this movie three times. First, in 1976 with Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, then the one I grew up with, the 2003 version with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, and most recently, the 2018 Disney Channel Original movie version, which was a musical. And, if you count Freakier Friday, a sequel to the 2003 version, I guess Disney has actually milked 4 movies out of one book!

I am not much of a reader and I am pretty sure I didn't even read 1 book in 2025. That could have been my eye issues from the scopolamine patch (sea sick patch) that caused lots of issues with my eyes or just the fact that I am not a reader. However, I made some goals for this year. I just bought a Kindle (I should get it today) with the goal of reading a chapter before bed and when I am in the office, taking a lunch break and reading a chapter then too (when I am at home I get on the treadmill). I did this in 2021(I think it was this year), when I read all of the Bridgerton books (except the last one) and I really liked that routine. This is a great theme for me this month!

Jan 6th -- 60 Treadmill
Jan 7th -- 35 walk outside
Jan 8 -- 43 walk outside
Jan 9 -- 100 walk outside and treadmill
Jan 12 -- 87 walk outside and treadmill
Jan 13 -- 80 walk outside and treadmill

Total -- 463/775

So, I have basically hit my goal already this month. I am going to change my goal to 25 minutes a day for a total of 775 minutes for the month. My % complete now would be 59.74% (if I did my math right). I think this amount is still very doable with my current times but I didn't want to go too high either. THe walking outside won't happen all the time because of our weather in Northeast Ohio but last week we were in the 60's so we took advantage of that. Today, we are getting snow that is not really going to stop for about a week. If I hit this then next month I will go up by 5 minutes a day.

I lost this thread for awhile but finally saw it pop back up. I have not been great about keeping strict tabs on my minutes so I am going to give myself the least amount of minutes I know I would have at the barn, though the real number is likely much higher. And I've been really good about sticking with yoga, and I can already tell it's helping a lot with balance and flexibility.

885 new minutes - horses and yoga

I've seen the three Disney movies, but not the Freakier sequel. My daughter and I adore the musical version with Heidi Blickenstaff. We have the soundtrack on a Spotify playlist since we love it so much!

I have 35 new minutes. 10 minutes of abs, 10 minutes of yoga, and 15 minutes of walking!

PollyannaMom has reached Author Orange! piglet1979 is at Bookish Blue (and not far from the next color change, either)! Lots of folks are close to their next color change. Good work, team!

For today's book turned movie, let's look at Lemonade Mouth!

This is another book that I have actually read, and Disney made a lot of tweaks to the characters and story before adapting it into a Disney Channel Original Movie. The green-haired character on the cover is actually a girl named Stella! Though in the movie, she has shoulder-length brown hair and is Asian-American. Most of the characters have very different appearances in the book vs. the movie, with the movie characters being much more conventionally attractive. The music of the titular band is also quite different in the book. Instead of playing traditional rock-band instruments, Lemonade Mouth uses conga drums and timbales, a ukulele, a trumpet, and a bass.

The book received a sequel while the movie did not. The second book, entitled Lemonade Mouth Puckers Up, seems like a criticism of the creative liberties that Disney took with the story. I thought the sequel book was too cynical to be very good. LOL.

My daughter went through a huge Lemonade Mouth phase so we have the book and definitely watched the movie many times. I think we also have some Bridgit Mendler from that phase. Lemonade Mouth is definitely one of our favorite DCOMs.

20 min treadmill this morning, 25 yoga the other day, and I'm going to count 15 for taking down all the Christmas knick-knacks yesterday (lots of up and down stairs carrying bins).
