Video of Pluto chasing a kid

Looked to me like Pluto was upset. I don't know what happened but I hope someone knows and can enlighten us.

I would assume off camera there had to be a handler. In that case the handler would have jumped in had something gone out of control. It appeared to me that Pluto was just playing. A bit rough but none the less playing.

The woman who knocked into him seemed to be doing her own thing. Once Pluto got up he seems confused and removed himself from the situation....

Odd though.....

WOW, I love this board to death but come on people Disney can be wrong sometimes! MOST of the replies on here are all about poor pluto or that kid had to do something like kick or pull on his tail. The kid could have took a marker out and stated giving pluto his john hancock for all we know. DOES THIS MAKE IT RIGHT FOR PLUTO TO RUN AFTER A CHILD??? None of us know what happened in this situation and for all we know they could have been playing around and it was all planned out. As for the woman, she def did NOT push him down, pluto simply turned around and missed the step due to his poor vision inside the costume.

just fyi this took place in disneyland

and characters don't work the same there as they do here

they are more free roaming then here

Very odd indeed. What surprises me is that this even happened in the first place.

-Why wasn't there a handler who jumped in imminently?
-Aren't there cameras all over the park? How could this happen in one of the most CROWDED areas of the park?

Very weird. I'm hoping for some confirmed details.

Okay I've come to the following conclusion.

Pluto was having fun with the kid, just messin' around.
This woman [who didn't look related to the kid at all] jumped in and pulled the whole "That could be dangerous you shouldn't be doing it!" thing.
Then Pluto tried to walk away. He was walking kind of weird, and combined with that "push" the woman gave he fell over.
Pluto walked away and tried to motion "Hey, did you see what happened" because he needed someone to back him up that he was innocent and just playing.

Yup, there's my opinion. :teeth: Poor pluto.

It's hard to tell what happened, but all I know is I haven't laughed so hard in a long time as when I saw this video!! :lmao: I showed it to DH and DS and they had a good chuckle over it, too. I even called DD in Oregon and had her pull it up. Boy, that made my night!!

I don't know what happened, but for those wondering where it happened, I can say for certain that it happened at Disneyland in Anaheim given that the lampposts in the background are painted gold for its 50th. It appears to have happened during the 50th anniversary as the 50 mickey ear emblem does seem to be in the flower pots.

However, when I first watched it, I thought Pluto was playing around. Way too fast to be running through the park though as a character, but I know the characters have some fun like this from time to time. The only reason I say that is that after the "lady" pulls on Pluto and appears to yell at him, he looks around playfully like he is wondering where the boy went....still in Pluto character.

What I find MOST shocking is that after that lady appears to push Pluto causing him to lose his balance off the sidewalk, she pulls out her camera and videotapes him on the ground rather than doing the obvious thing which would be to make sure he is alright. Unbelievable! Pluto did the right thing afterwards though and that was to walk away and show his hands were clear of anything. Obviously though he stepped out of character when he stopped to point the lady out who pushed him to some other guests.

I would love to know what was happening 30 seconds before the start of that video.

What park is this at? It looks like the older Pluto costume, he's got that big lumpy forehead. The courtyard he's running around is obviously on Main Street, but it looks too small to be WDW (not to mention the shops are a little different). Is it maybe DL or DLP?

Wow, what an interesting video! I have no idea what happened nor do I care to speculate but I must say that I'm very impressed how fast Pluto can run in that costume!!! :cheer2:

It sounded to me like the woman said "don't touch my son, don't you ever touch my son". But maybe I'm hearing things.

It happened in Disneyland and from what I learned on another board the video is old. The lampposts are painted gold which places it in the 2005-2006 timeframe.

I have yet to see the video but from what I've read elsewhere it lacks a lot of information, what started the situation for instance.

The whole thing looks staged to me. It almost looks like the woman that pushed him has a grin on her face.

It seems like that may have been just pluto playing with the kid. It doesn't seem like he was angry. Until he fell over. And yes, I think she nudged him, but I agree with another poster that he was on the edge of the curb when he fell.

:scared1:

To me, it looks like a playful encounter. If it was anything other than that, it would have been all over the news.

the first time, when she pulls on him, he turns around and looks at her and they both have fingers pointing out at eachother and pluto's doing it in a way that you know he's trying to be forceful without physically yelling. when he gets pushed (pushed, whether he was on the curb or not) and falls down, he gets up and my impression is he's looking for a CM, not a boy. he doesn't go back to the boy, instead he goes to another couple and tries to find himself an eye witness to being pushed and then just storms off

and the boy, who does make another appearance, doesn't go back to pluto. so he undertstood something not right was going on.

This can't be good. So who is going to try to sue Disney for money now?
Pluto?

It almost looks like they could've been playing... the kid even comes back when pluto is walking away like.. what??.. and some lady stepped in grabbing him??

Pluto likes to act like a dog.. maybe they were just having a game of chase?
I watched the video a few times so far. It really does look like a 'game' to me...you know that kind that parents come home and brag about...'My ds had the greatest encounter with Pluto...got some very special time with Pluto chasing him around. How magical!!' It does seem like the woman, I'm assuming Mom, comes running out of the town center as the little boy jumps off the sidewalk in from of the Emporium. She grabs Pluto, they start with the finger pointing, she reaches for him, and Pluto steps back as he turns..unfortunatly, he is right on the edge of the curb and goes down. When he gets up, the mom follows him with the camera running (it seems that way anyway) and follows him back to the square, where she continues filming. As Pluto crosses the street, note his outstretched arms, as if to say...me? not me!!, but I could be misinterpreting his body language.
Would be interesting to see what the 'true' story is. If there was some wrongdoing on Pluto's part, I'm pretty sure we would have heard about it by now, don't you think?
