I did some math a few weeks ago and at 320pp savings was still over 50% off rack, so that sounds like it's true.I've seen analysis in the past saying VGC is still worth it over rack rate at $400pp.

You got to weigh the pros and cons of selling it. Is the money gained worth not owning VGC anymore? I sometimes think about selling, but quickly realize I'd be more unhappy in losing my contracts than to gain $30k in capital gains. Perhaps I'm crazy. But I feel we have so many more years of vacations at VGC left in us. I can't imagine at the moment parting with it.This really has me thinking about selling my 50 pointer. 340pp for a small contract and we haven't hit the ceiling?
I just bought another 110pt contract at 245pp, so I'd still be an owner. If it were my only contract, I wouldn't even consider as I love owning there. Even though our stay there last week sent us home with COVID.You got to weigh the pros and cons of selling it. Is the money gained worth not owning VGC anymore? I feel you. We bought 320 points (2 contracts) in early 2021 at $220pp. I sometimes think I don't need both contracts. We can easily stay in studios and still be able to take our vacations. But boy do we love our VGC 1BRs. And we can't stomach shooting the dice at 7 months using our SAP. Just selling one contract would probably net us $15k after owning them for only 2 years. But I seriously think it would make us unhappy. I know that money bought us the contracts so money can sometimes buy happiness. But the act of losing it would have the opposite effect, even with a capital gain.I just bought another 110pt contract at 245pp, so I'd still be an owner. It is if you are comparing suites to 1BR and 2BR villas. The value is even better than the studio to regular room comparison.I've seen analysis in the past saying VGC is still worth it over rack rate at $400pp.
It most definitely is with the larger room categories. But the rack rates for 1 and 2 BRs through Disney aren't the same as the DVC villas we can book with points. They have no kitchens. It's apples and oranges IMO. Even still, it's nice seeing a typical 1BR rack rate price of $2000/night during our typical time in November and knowing that I'm only paying ~$500/night. That means I'm saving over $10k for a week stay every time! And that doesn't even include tax and parking. This is what I tell myself at least to justify my $70k in purchasing my contracts. It is if you are comparing suites to 1BR and 2BR villas. In slow parts of the fall, it's >$2000/night after tax for a cash 1BR Suite (which is arguably worse than a 1BR Villa).Yes price a retail 1 Bdrm in GC, in the range of $1500.
Yeah, what's with those signature suites? I wonder who stays in those? And doesn't DLH have them too? Rack rates at both GCH and Aulani blows my mind sometimes. But I didn't realize the jump from studio to 1BR at GCH is that much more than Aulani. Perhaps it's a matter of inventory? Since there are so many more rooms at Aulani. In slow parts of the fall, it's >$2000/night after tax for a cash 1BR Suite (which is arguably worse than a 1BR Villa).
Then there's Signature Suites, which are crazy money ($5k-$10k/night) but in a totally different class from VGC Villas.
VGC is definitely different from WDW/Aulani 1BRs, which are maybe 25-40% more per night than Studios.
that is a great question. didn't you hear from the video? He's neck deep in CASH money baby! He probably lives it up in penthouse suites burning Benjamin's and pouring chrystals on the carpet!I wonder what size room Dave Ramsey rents

We are local, and just do staycations mostly for pool time. We love it. But there is no way I would pay $800 per night for a cash room.

This is exactly the question I asked myself. We just closed on our VGC points today and I could immediately turn around and make 30k on them...but I really want to keep them forever! It's insane how much the prices for VGC has gone up throughout the years. It's too bad that the transient tax added to the VDH are pretty steep at around $2.70/point for this second DVC Disneyland property. That is probably a deal breaker for most people on a budget.
We could recoup our initial VGC purchase cost just selling one of our three 100 point VGC contracts now. My husband says, sell it, I on the other hand would like to keep it forever.
I love the DLH, not a fan of GCV just due to theming. We stay at Marriott suites which is about 1.5 miles away and shuttle in. Huge rooms & nice amenities for a better price than the “motels” closer to the park. No chance I’m buying GCV at current rates or VDH due to the TOT, parking and etc. (had been saving for VDH for 3 years and very disappointed once released). I’ll pay cash when I go and that’ll be that. Its amazing how high the rates are at the Grand and DH when there are great cheap options within walking distance to DL.
Hi… may I ask pls which Marriott and how has been your experience with shuttle at night with crowds?I love the DLH, not a fan of GCV just due to theming.
