VGC - Hard times to Book Studio at 11 Months?

Hi All,

I recently got some VGC DVC points. I was wondering if anyone has noticed any times that it is hard to book VGC Studio even at 11 Months to the day? I noticed the weekend of the Expo sold out at 11 months... Any other popular weekends? Does anyone know if there are any problems with Martin Luther King weekend usually at 11 months (Star wars weekend run)?

Like all DVC the most difficult is in the last quarter of the year. First week of December is the worst. Star Wars race was bookable for a couple of months. The dates early in the year seemed to be easily available if you booked at the 11 months window although I didn't watch all dates too closely. Some were left at 7 months.

OH - strike what I said - I read it as VGF!!!

Let me go back. The Expos and the weekend in Dec for the Candlelight processional at DL are generally the quickest to book. Races will also be drivers of availability but if you're online at your 11 months window for races it shouldn't be an issue. I've noticed nothing else too difficult. Both Halloween and Columbus day are fine if you book at your 11 month window unless they would line up with something else - such as the Expo (unlikely). One other odd day is the DL opening Anniversary in July but I think that's easily booked right at 11 months too. From my observation the Expo is the most difficult.

Weekends and Holidays will see availability disappear before 7 months but again, with your home resort priority most or all are fine right at 11 months. We're some slow bookers on the west coast compared to WDW.

VGC has thus far shown a risk at disappearing at exactly 11 months only for Star Wars (MLK) weekend in January and the D23 Expo weekend (in July next year), and then only for studios (and as a result also 2BR lock-offs). The Candlelight Processional time in early Dec has filled fairly quickly after the 11 month window opens but not right at 11 months out. There are other times that book well before 7 months out, but none yet at exactly 11 months out.

Thanks that helps. I'll plan to book MLK weekend every year right at 5am. I wish I had some backup options @ Disneyland using my points.

I got a studio for 5 nights in early May 2011 and late September in 2012 at 7 months. I also got 1 bedrooms for the Sunday to Wednesday nights before D23 in 2013 & 2015 and am hoping again for 2017. We then moved to Paradise Pier for D23 weekend on cash. We already have PP booked for next summer for 7 nights and will drop nights if I get the 1 bedroom for 4 nights (that's all I have points for). Unlikely to get a studio.
