Hi...been suffering from episodes of it for over two years.
It started with a MAJOR episode in Feb. '01 where I couldn't even stand up...took about 3 or 4 days to get to the point where I could tolerate it. Worst part was boss was on vacation, so I had to go to work with it, with DH driving me 45 miles each way!
I went through a major battery of tests, MRI, etc and they couldn't find a cause. I tried three different meds with no success.
I usually find its worse when I haven't had enough sleep, when I try to look up over my head, and when I lay on my right side. I get the bed spins every night getting into bed. This week, I was trying to change a bubble blower display at work, stood on my tip toes and fell over due to a pretty severe flare up.
She may have to go through the MRI. Kinda hope it comes up negative, but then again, negative hasn't been that much fun here. I guess I'm the 1% that the scopalimine patch or the meclizine pill doesn't do anything for (except make me nauseous!)
Good luck to your friend. I hope it goes away.
