I'm looking for restaurant suggestions around Vero Beach. We love seafood and will probably want it for every meal.
We’re Ocean Grill fans. DW doesn’t do seafood, so the Ocean Grill prime rib gets her nod while I enjoy one of the wide variety of seafood options, frequently the catch of the day.Ocean Grill, Squid Lips, and Captain Hiram’s are often mentioned. We haven’t been in a few years, so will look to see what others say here. Of these we like Captain Hiram’s the most.
Okay, seems you have the insider knowledge. Recommendations for both a dinner and possible breakfast spot to take a family of 4 consisting of two non-fussy adults, a moderately adventurous 9 year old and a 7year old that's a bit picky? Please do yourself a favor… Do NOT visit Hiram’s for a meal. A drink at the bar while the band plays…. Fine.
Squid lips sucks as well, but there is a huge redo wrapping up.
Both places are tourist places. Locals do not eat there.
Where to eat??
In vero, as suggested, Ocean Grill is a favorite.
Also Bobby’s.
If you have a car and can drive, Yellow Dog Cafe, but that’s 1/2 hour north and more expensive than Ocean Grilll.
In Sebastian… as said avoid Hiram’s at all cost.
Hiram’s is on Indian River DRIVE (not to be confused with blvd in Vero). There are a few places in Indian River Drive that I can recommend, but depends on what you’re looking for and family make up.
ETA: I live nine minutes from the Vero resort
CJ Cannon’s. It overlooks the ramp & runway at Vero Beach airport.Okay, seems you have the insider knowledge. Totally disagree with Vero Prime. Over priced for what it is.Cobalt, The Wave in Costa D'Este, Bobby's, Trattoria Dario are all great spots on the island. Other recommended spots that we have not gone to recently are the Polo Grille and Citron Bistro and Citrus Grille.
Michael's on 7th, Vincent's are all great in the "Miracle Mile"
Vero Prime is great in the Downtown Vero Beach area
Italian Grille and Casa Amigos are nice west of town
We may be in the minority but we really like Wind & Waves inside of the Disney's Vero Beach Hotel. We also love getting a drink and going to the trivia/games in the Green Cabin Room upstairs as well. Don't know if I would eat there every night on a week long vacation to VB, but we find it to be quite solid for Vero Beach dining options (which we find, generally speaking, overpriced and underwhelming).
In Vero Beach most of the well to do belong to a country club (or three) and use them as their primary dining venues.
The thing about food and restaurants is that it is subjective to everyone. I'm not a fan of CJ Cannons which has poor quality food, but does have lovely ambiance and a nice view.Totally disagree with Vero Prime. Over priced for what it is.
Have been to Cobalt. Not impressed.
We love Bobby’s as well, but my rec was for a family with picky kids.

Yup… you are the first I’ve ever heard to say that CJ’s has poor quality food. The thing about food and restaurants is that it is subjective to everyone. I'm not a fan of CJ Cannons which has poor quality food, but does have lovely ambiance and a nice view.
Also, as my previous post stated, we find dining in Vero to generally be overpriced and underwhelming, which seems to be your view on the restaurants above.
I will have to check them out! While it’s a bit north - I also recommend the Old Fish House. Fri - Sun they have a raw bar and in early May had the largest Oysters I’d ever seen. Sebastian Saltwater was also good and as someone else mentioned, Riverside Cafe.
I know it’s been a while for this, but how often did you visit CJ’s ??The thing about food and restaurants is that it is subjective to everyone. I'm not a fan of CJ Cannons which has poor quality food, but does have lovely ambiance and a nice view.

Okay, so the plan is to head down to this place in two weeks. Does meal time matter, like are they better at lunch or dinner? I suppose we could drive down for breakfast, but we won't be in town during a weekend, so Sunday brunch is out.CJ Cannon’s. It overlooks the ramp & runway at Vero Beach airport.
They have a large menu, so I suspect everyone can find something.
Also the kids may enjoy watching the airplanes.
Note: they close after lunch on Sunday’s.
As with all places in the area, you will need a car.
