I am interested in the dining options at Shutter's and Sonya's. I remember reading somewhere about the brunch and the seafood buffet at Sonya's but I also thought I read about Italian Night. I just called VB and she didn't seem to know what I was talking about.

Anyone been to Vero lately and can tell me about the dining options in Sonya's and Shutters. If you can remember the menu items, that would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

We ate at each of them a few times at the end of May.

Shutters always has good food, IMO. Our children love the kids meal. They also offer a different kid's dessert each night.

There is a daily sorbet selection to choose from. They have steaks, sandwiches, a few specials every evening. They have excellent vegetables and I always get them with every meal when we eat at Shutters. The smashed potatoes are wonderful.

Sonja's has the seafood buffet which is always excellent, IMO.

Sonja's is the only restaurant who can cook a peice of prime rib the way I like it (well done) without burning it.

Sonja's always has an excellent brunch on Sunday.

Are there any specific menu items you are looking for?

At one time, I believe they had themed dinner nights at Sonja's. I'm not sure they do this anymore. For example, one night was Italian night and they would also have a wine paired with the entrees. You can always order off the regular menu and can order off Shutters 's menu in Sonja's and Sonja's menu in Shutters.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the great information floridafam,

I thought I remember reading about themed nights. In the past we have cooked at VB but I am looking forward to eating in Shutters and Sonya's (especially for the Prime Rib because I also like it well done).

It is also good to know that you can order Shutter's at Sonya's and vice-a-versa.

The kids like to eat at the Green Cabin Room for the mozarella sticks and wings and stuff like that but if the kids menu is good at the restaurant, I am sure they will enjoy it.

By the way, I love your picture!

I want to say that the Italian buffet night has been replaced by the Seafood Buffet...

IMO, the Seafood Buffet is good, but the Italian was excellent..
:D

We spent 3 days at Vero in June. Skip the seafood buffet at Sonyas. We were very disappointed! You had to be a surgeon to find any meat in the crab legs. The fish of the day was dry, un-peeled shrimp which was slimy, and mussels which were the size of raisins. Go into the town of Vero and eat at the Ocean Grill which is right on the beach.
Shutters was much better. My wife and I enjoyed the grilled tuna sandwich for lunch.

We were there the first week of May. We had dinner each night at Shutters and thoroughly enjoyed it. We ate grilled fish almost every night and it was wonderful. We looked at the seafood buffet at Sonya's but it didn't appeal to us... just our opinion.

Try the Mexican restaurant in town.... I think "Ay???????" Can't remember the rest. There are 2 of them and the newer one is really hice. The food is exceptional.

mbhoxsie,
Thanks for the info. I am disappointed that the Italian buffet was replaced - I think I would have really enjoyed that!

elizab,
We have been reading alot of posts like yours about the seafood buffet. I think we will skip it and eat at Shutters.

scootert,
I am getting that impression for alot of people. We cn alwyas take a look and then eat at Shutters!

chrisd596,
We have never eaten off the property, we usually cook in the room or order pizza. This time I wanted to try eating out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks all for the responses and enjoy the rest of the summer!

Jalisco maybe? Was just by the location up by Wal-Mart on US1 and it still had "will be opening soon" on the sign out front.

It has been hit or miss for us. Last week was a miss for myself. The quality just wasn't up to par. Maybe it was due to being later in the evening. It seemed like some of the items were "growing old" after being under the burners for awhile:(

Another option for fresh seafood is at Fin's Marina just above Captain's Hiram's on Indian River Drive Sebastian. It used to be Finn's Grill but after a change of management and remodeling it has been renamed Squid Lips. Imho great Fresh Oak Fire Grilled Seafood, a great view and decent prices.

we ate at sonya's last wednesday night and it was pretty good. :>) Had an excellent wine (evolution) from oregon (and I'm excited that I can buy it here in northern va for 15$ instead of the disney price of 42$) dd ate off the kids menu from shutters and enjoyed that. The best part though was the magic trick at the end of the meal. (I think the cm's name was mike, can't remember for sure anymore) He came over and asked kate if she believed in magic and then had her hold onto the kids menu that he had folded up and repeat the most magical words she knew and presto, chocolate coins appeared. :D

also ate at ocean grill and it was once again an excellent meal.

madcoco,

Thanks for the info, Fin's marina sounds interesting. We usually do not go off property (we cook in the villa) but we have extended family coming this year and I would be happy if I didn't have to cook every night!!
I really think we are skipping the seafood buffet - more negative posts than positive. But maybe we will go on Wednesday when members get 10% off!

nicrun,
I have read alot of great things about the Ocean Grill. I think we will give it a try! The kids would love a waiter like that, I will have to ask for mike.
