Woke up and saw a turtle crawl on the beach. Right hand side of picture.

Nice! We were there 4th & 5th July & saw a nest one morning & a false crawl the other. It was so worth getting to the beach by 7 to meet the expert! But don't be late! They were finished & obliterating the tracks by 7:15. And don't forget the bug spray! They were worse then than at the campfire.

And the Tuesday night lecture was great, too.

Does anyone have an estimate on when the restaurants will open back up and what area of rooms will be remodeled next? Heading there in September and trying to guess what to expect. Thanks!

We just left yesterday and they told us the Inn building rooms are pretty much finished and the fourth floor rooms should be open next week. They were bringing in new furniture to the upper floor seating areas. Not sure when the ground floor will be done, or the restaurants. They are doing a good job with alternate dining arrangements, even though we didn't eat at any of their restaurants.

I was told restaurants will be open Late September or early October. Shutter's will then have a new name - if I recall, it is along the lines of Sun & Sea, or Sand & Sea.
The new outdoor bar, will be larger - include bar seating and be located closer to the gate entrance of the pool, straight across from the gazebo/pool table.

A couple of tips for those of you heading to Vero during the Jun/Jul/Aug summer months. The pool deck area and the sand get scorching hot, and can really be uncomfortable or do some burn damage to the bottom of your feet, or those children who hate to wear shoes. Be prepared to wear some sort of footwear in both of those areas.

I sure this has been asked and answered but after a couple of pages I gave up. We have a Saturday night stay in a Studio. We are planning on an early arrival on Saturday. We are either hanging at the beach or pool or both till room is ready. Lunch or diner at Ocean Grill (other recommendations). Sunday about the same; hang at pool or beach diner at the resort then 2.5 hour ride home to Tampa. Here is my question. Are there changing room with showers available?
It's been too long since our last trip and we want to make this an annual event.

Yes. The rest rooms by the pool have nice shower facilities.

We arrived yesterday afternoon. We're in a 1-BR in building 12 (for the first time in 6 visits), requested upper floor, got 2nd. Our view is of the side of the main building, and the parking lot.
The ocean was fairly seaweed-y last night at 7 pm when we went swimming, and it was very wavy. We plan to go on the kayak tour Friday (the Sunset Kayak Adventure is offered Sunday, Monday & Friday @ 4:30).

Is there any parasailing near the resort? I only found one location searching online and they have closed I would also be interested in any other activities nearby like horseback riding, zip lining, etc. Thanks!

Were the villas in Bldg 12 updated yet? I heard only 15 had been updated so far. We are going in 2 weeks. Thx!

No, building 12 has not been updated. I asked at check in, and only building 15 is done. The CM told us that they were starting on the next building in November.

Just read on another site that there is no longer any fishing allowed in the pond! Very sad news for us as we considered that part of our "routine" most mornings and evenings of our trips over the past years. I should have realized this was coming when the announcement came out of no more fishing at the Disney World resorts (other than paid excursions) - when that change was made, I immediately thought of it being sad for Fort Wilderness where fishing was so fun in their waterways but it didn't
hit me that Vero would get the same changes. Anyone have recommendations for very simple, close fishing as an alternative? I am thinking maybe the area off to the sides of the bridge coming off to Orchid Island? Still won't be as calm and relaxing as a short walk from the resort and peace and quiet.

I called and talked to the front desk a few weeks ago and was told about the fishing changes. The cast member told me it was due to "recent events" and may change again in the future. This will be our first trip so it was hard for me to follow the areas he was suggesting for fishing but he did mention a bridge on the way in. I probably would be more help if I knew the area and understood his directions better but I thought I would share anyways

Hopefully! Honestly, I didn't care if we got building 15. I like the design of the villas now. Though we did have to call maintenance because the a/c quit.

How do the refillable mugs work if you already have them from an onsite hotel? We will be in Disney Sunday-Tuesday, at Universal for a few days midweek and are checking into Vero on that Friday. We will have the dining plan and refillable mugs for the few days we are at Disney Sunday-Tuesday. Would we still be able to use our refillable mugs without paying again by the time we check into Vero for the weekend?
