Verizon drops rapper Akon after Trinidad video controversy

It's one thing to listen to lyrics, it's a totally different thing to have someone act the lyrics out. I've seen video of people dancing on other people, but this was no dancing. I think it's disgusting. It doesn't matter if he knew how old she was, he shouldn't be doing this with a woman of any age. Just because she got on stage does not imply consent.

Aren't there laws against public lewdness?

It is disgusting ,BUT some people have different views on sex.

Some people are exhibitionists.

Some people have fetishes.

Some people are wired to enjoy getting their freak on in public. Not for you and I, BUT some like it.

They consent to it.

They pay to get into private clubs to do it.

So, ewwww & yuck for me, BUT there are many, many, many adults that enjoy what Akon does.

Luckily, I don't have to do it or view it Neither did the teenager who snuck into the club.

Poor wording on my part.

Most, except a couple, blame the girl and feel that Akon did nothing wrong. That it's ok as long as they are consenting adults or it's ok as you should know what you are getting into at a Akon concert and it's the girl's fault for sneaking in.

So you just think it's disgusting all the way around? I thought you were more outraged because the girl was 15. Yes it is disgusting to some but not all. Some people get their kicks doing that or going to strip clubs or festish things or umm whatever those places are called for sex in front of other people(though I don't know if that is legal).

I know people that think all acts of sex including the act of sex between two people disgusting. However this country you can do that sort of thing whether it is right or wrong and yes it is more acceptable. In some countries open rape and mutilation of women is acceptable and tolerated. Again, it comes down to the people and the country.

I don't think I've seen anyone post that they think the humping on the stage is acceptable or enjoyable and that they can't wait to jump in. Because we aren't jumping on the bandwagon of he is horrible person, doesn't mean we believe it.

He's gross; she's gross, but he is an adult man making lots of money off this behavior and she is a little girl who has no legal capacity to consent to such behavior. That's the difference.

Sorry, but she is not a little girl A minor, perhaps. But, she is a 15 year old who knew enough to sneak into an adult club.

I think it's inappropriate and disgusting no matter the age but it's even more disgusting and upsetting that the girl is a minor.

I think it's worse behavoir than what others have been fired for lately for saying.

I think Verizon did a good thing and wish Gwen would do the same.

No, that's ok. I saw the video on television. I saw enough. I had no idea who he was until this made the news. I'm not into that kind of "music". Listening to Maroon 5 is about as hip as I get.

Well, Gwen's not exactly a wholesome, family friendly performer either, so I highly doubt that's going to happen, although she's well within her rights to do so.

Nope, she's not. I saw her on her last tour and, while she was not lewd, there were several F-bombs flying and a few other choice words. I was a bit surprised as she knows that she gets a LOT of very young kids at her shows. I mean, she wasn't up to Madonna's antics but more "rough" than I expected. It certainly wasn't "High School Musical."

Plus, she's pretty free about what other artists do and considering she let Pharrell drop the "N" word on her CD, she probably lets Akon do whatever he wants.

Now, some of the venues in our area can be uptight and I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan Pavillion and the local "moral authority" in Bristow, Virginia, says that he can't do that on stage.
