Vent-- use the search engine!!!!

I don't understand all the nit picking. Isn't the word "here" implied??

Of course when someone asks "Has anyone......?" they know SOMEONE has, they are asking if anyone HERE has done it, and asking for their experience.

I can't stand when people get into such semantics on a fluff board.

yes but isn't the likelihood of someone HERE actually going to the store pretty high too? Like the "Has anyone ever stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort" threads.

I don't care. I get what they are asking. That doesn't mean I don't want to be snarky. It is funny. So what? Your 'search engine' post making fun of this thread is no different. Not really.

I'm not all worked up or venting or whatever...it is just a funny response that pops into my head EVERY time I read a title phrased that way.

Wait? There are more popular people than YOU, Jennasis???? :scared1:

You wouldn't think so....but I'm telling you it's happened. I'm going to start haning out free candy or something. I'm not above bribery to get to the head of the class.

You mean like the way YOU posted another Oscar thread six HOURS after I posted an Official Oscar thread? :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

I posted one at 6 am before I left for work. Since I was at work all day, I didn't get to bump it forward. But it was only on the top of page 3 when I got home at 6pm. You can't tell me, as a poster of 10 years, 9,106 posts, that you don't know enough to look on page 3 for an existing thread, especially when someone calls it the Official one. :surfweb:

An "Official" thread only works when a community follows some loosely agreed upon rules of play. And the DIS community, (such as it is  :hippie: pirate: princess: :wizard: :joker: :clown: ) usually follows those rules when someone calls Dibs, naming an "Official" thread. Some posters later complained that they were stuck on the second, non-moving thread and didn't know there was a great party going on, on the "Official" thread. :rockband:

For the record, I am not more popular than you. I'm not a cliquer. (I usually only post to other people's TV show threads. My posts usually get ignored as someone else posts the same thing right after and everyone responds to them. ) And you've been here 4 years longer than me. As Robin said, there is no one more popular than you. ;) :goodvibes

Ah...sweet affirmation!

FTR, I RARELY go beyond page two (or even rarer, three). I usually stop browsing threads where they stop appearing in bold print. AND mine died anyway , while yours kept going through the whole show (where is that tongue sticking out smiley??). So nanny nanny boo boo.:upsidedow

Seriously, though, my apologies. I NEVER intentionally start a dupe thread like that, but like I said, I also almost never go beyond the first page or two. Honest. In 10 years...that's been my posting style. Since I work from home, I am generally able to check the board often enough that I usually see anything new. But it's always possible for something to slip through the crack. Next time, call me on it and I'll have a mod close my dupe (like I did for mandy on the American Idol thread WHICH I STARTED FIRST!!, but graciously bowed out).

My only issue is when I start a thread, and then a while later, a more "popular" poster starts a thread about the same thing, and suddenly my thread becomes a ghost town. It's like high school all over again. Has happened to me three times this year so far.

I hate that too.

Here...have some candy.

That's because I had to hand out a LOT of candy to get them to my thread.

So, yes, passing out candy does work. ;) :teeth: :goodvibes

I was exhausted by the end of the evening. A 4 HOUR Oscar show is a lot of candy to be passing out. :faint: The show ran into overtime and I was almost out of candy!

I'm offering FULL SIZE Hershey bars. Wanna be my friend?

hersheybar.jpg

Oooooo! Chocolate! Of course, we are friends. :yay: :woohoo:

For the record, we do post to a lot of the same threads :goodvibes, and as popular as you are :worship: I haven't known you to be a thread grabber (or what ever it is those people are called. :surfweb: )

How many more times do we need to see the same post?!?!!??!?!

"Tell me about...."

"Do you shop at...."

It's always the same stores! Number 1 offender seems to be about Aldi's!!!

PLEASE Use the search feature! It works and we can reduce a lot of clutter on the boards!!

Sorry, vent over.
I think we actually need more of those threads. Without them, this board becomes nothing but threads about mundane irritations. Do you really want to see twenty threads in a row lamenting that someone got cut off in traffic the day before yesterday and haven't figured out how to let the angst go?

The "Backing into parking spaces" thread seems to generate as much heat as the "Returning shopping carts" threads. They are quite entertaining. Who'da thunk? popcorn::

I have been on the DIS for 10 years... and I probably have seen this exact comment at least two times a month...
really it is not such a big deal.
anyway.. repeated threads often get up dated information and updated opinions.

I would rather see repeated threads than one more clique thread on the CB

Which is why I never actually answer that "no, no one has ever shopped there" even though I'm SOOOOO tempted! :littleangel:

Awww you deserve one of those full sized Hershy bars the popular kids are hhanding out:thumbsup2 (I admit I feel like being snarky sometimes to;)) Me? I am not popular at all and do not desire to be--but I live in the land of better chocolate (and good wine) so I am happy:rotfl2:

please like me.:flower3:

Here's a thought. Maybe they did search, but didn't find the answer they were looking for. Or maybe they didn't feel like wading through dozens of possibly outdated threads. Or maybe they just didn't feel like searching, and even though it's a terrible inconvenience to have to look at thread titles you don't like, lucky for you, you don't have to read those threads.

Everybody ~ STOP POSTING!!!!

It's all been said before.
We need to leave and let new people 'search' for the answers. And good luck to them since that hardly ever works!

I cannot remember the last time (if ever) the search feature worked on this board. I haven't tried it in a while because it always tanked in the past

OH you should try it. It is worlds better than what it used to be and I've had it bring up threads from like 5-6yrs ago. :thumbsup2

That being said, I really don't care how many ppl post duplicate threads. The ONLY time it annoys me is when somebody dies and there winds up being 6 threads on the same person. Other than that duplicate away. I have my chocolate so I'm good:rotfl:
