VDH Opening

Those damned Romans...Just goes to show: you always have to look on the bright side of life.

My point was that, by most accounts (not mine, as I'm a local), DLR is at best a 3-day trip and most owners would be doing long weekends (primarily West Coasters, and that's the existing trend, with VGC being an obvious exception). Based on the reduced 100-point minimum for new members, and the contract sizes I've seen posted on here (and the published points charts), I would be curious how many actual park days the average owner at VDH will actually spend each year, and whether dropping an Inspire Key down to, say $900, to match a Sorcerer Pass, would really manifest in significant savings.

And as for the extra MM's, when you "only" have one resort versus 11, having 1 or 2 MM's versus 6 really isn't much of a loss.

ETA: ironically, living here in the OC I actually have both an Inspire Key AND a Sorcerer Pass.
I want my premier pass back. 😭 I also have the Inspire and Sorcerer right now. I just checked and I’m logging in about 30 days for the Sorcerer which is great value but I’m only at 52 days for Inspire with 5 months left. I see club 33 people still with premier so it wouldn’t be super hard for them to offer it to DVC members. The slightly cheaper combined pass will make it feel like a discount.

I think Iger coming out and specifically saying the Premier Pass wasn't coming back is a pretty good sign we won't be seeing it. 😭

Which room? Which season? Which day? Rates range from 10-200 points per day.
I wasn't talking about points per day. I was trying to come up with a back of the envelope calc on how many points sold to date. I didn't buy a specific week. But use year is September so if they're allocating the unit (mine is 1J) based on use year, my back of the envelope on how many points they've sold so far won't work.

That’s why it should be called the welcome home pass or something like that. It’s locked behind the dvc y member restriction wall then Iger really won’t be breaking his promise. 1899 per person for a top tier pass at both coasts… I’d be tempted and it would also add a strong member benefit that might tempt more to pay for direct. I’m just dreaming but it would be nice.

There’s decent amount of space. And I almost usually have the whole outdoors area to myself which I love. Today though the tables and chairs were missing outdoors (I’m going to assume due to weather) so I ate my lunch indoors. I feel at Epcot it’s been like 50/50 that I might to wait a bit for a table but Star View Lounge has been walk up so far. They are now offering a VDH sticker and VDH button along with the Star View Lounge goodies.
Balcony was open today. It closes at 3:00 currently because the space is used for dessert parties.

Looking to make my first DVC purchase on May 30, already have appt. I really hope I can get an incentive close to what is currently being offered. Based on experience from previous new resorts, any ideas about what incentive a new buyer will get? I need 160 points but I can buy more if needed to get a better incentive.

You can look at the vgf and riviera incentives for current and new owners for an idea. Just my guess but because Disney is going to try to attract a different demographics in a new area, the incentives should be pretty good.

How are you guys getting the new VDH banner to display at the smaller size (550x62) in your signature? It is displaying at 800x91 when I add it to my signature.

Awesome! Checking into DLH tomorrow and will be in the area for a week, hopefully we can check it out!

When you’re in signature settings you should be able to resize the image by dragging on the corner - or there is also a image detail box where you can manually update the pixels.

We bought that pass when it first came out (I think 2010). Only $700, but it felt like a lot at the time!

Do you know if they are still handing out the popcorn vouchers/buckets? I’ll be there tomorrow and trying to decide if I need to make space for it in my suitcase 🤣
The only thing missing so far is the cups. I need to figure out if they’ll give me the popcorn voucher without the bucket because I sure don’t need any more. But I want the free popcorn so I just go with it 😅

Can you reuse the bucket for free refills on subsequent trips?

No, free popcorn refills or discounted refills does not exist at DLR like it does at WDW. Even when we have the Magic Key buckets the discounted refills are only for like a month. But hey, maybe this should be a DVC perk 😅 for now the DVC vouchers will have to do. They are good until December.

Thank you!! I was hoping it’d be like WDW and the Aulani 🤣. I’ll take what I can get, though!
