VDH Opening

I've seen so many amazing photos of people who have deep emotional connections to Disneyland hotel posting cool things about how it's where they held their weddings and such and now they own a spot there. I had already given up, saying owning at the OG mouse house/the design, etc. was enough to make me buy. But I'm happier each day and I'll just "eat" the tax.

This is a judgement free zone :)

But if it helps, I do plan on trying to play around in Photoshop this PM and build a banner that is in alignment with the square ones that you and @UrsulaWantsYourSoul have in your signatures. I also need to fix the one I built as I noticed the others that were made are just a bit taller with a larger black banner at the top. I'm no guru, so don't expect amazing results. But should be a stopgap until a pro makes better ones. I'll post them in the banner thread and here.
Yaaaaaaass! I love me a banner. Do it!!

See above. The only real difference I see is access to significant AP discounts, but I don't see that as having the same benefit here as in WDW.
Well, for me a significant AP discount is the only real incentive to buy 150 direct points so not having one for DL is a pretty big difference (I’m a blue card holder but got in at the 25 level and would def buy a DL AP at a discount).

Yeah Key Membership discount (AP) would definitely change the equation. Lounge is worth $20 per visit for us. MM perhaps $200. That's not enough. We're VGC resale owners already, so VDH needs to stand on its own and and Direct benefits on the west coast, which it hasn't yet.

Don, your comment about their not being many differences in direct benefits on the two coasts except for discounted APs and more MM events made me think of the “what have the Romans ever done for us?” scene from Life of Brian.

Those damned Romans...Just goes to show: you always have to look on the bright side of life.

My point was that, by most accounts (not mine, as I'm a local), DLR is at best a 3-day trip and most owners would be doing long weekends (primarily West Coasters, and that's the existing trend, with VGC being an obvious exception). Based on the reduced 100-point minimum for new members, and the contract sizes I've seen posted on here (and the published points charts), I would be curious how many actual park days the average owner at VDH will actually spend each year, and whether dropping an Inspire Key down to, say $900, to match a Sorcerer Pass, would really manifest in significant savings.

And as for the extra MM's, when you "only" have one resort versus 11, having 1 or 2 MM's versus 6 really isn't much of a loss.

ETA: ironically, living here in the OC I actually have both an Inspire Key AND a Sorcerer Pass.

That makes sense. We don’t currently plan on getting a magic key; however, we do have WDW APs, incredipass though. Since we are from Texas, we might come for longer and will have 150 points. Even so, we are holding off to see if they would be worth it. It might depend where our son goes off to college after next year.

How often do you make it out East to WDW?

I wonder if there may be a pretty decent point rental market for VDH in the future. It seems that DL is a 3 day park on average so some of the owners may look to renting some of their unused points since there will probably be a lot of 150 pt. and above purchases.

Anyone seen a Public Offering Statement for VDH yet? I messaged my Guide, too.
We were given access to one when we bought. I don’t think the link will work, since it's part of our membership. If you PM me, I could email it to you.

Got our paperwork yesterday morning and we're in 1J. I was a little surprised that that we weren't further down the alphabet considering we didn't put in our purchase until late afternoon on Wednesday. But with that said, given our contract gets us 160 points or 0.2712 of 1J, back of the envelope would say that approximates to just under 59,000 points per unit so looks like they might have sold at least a half a million points in the first two days, which is certainly not bad for initial sales. Someone check my math!

Wait my math is definitely wrong. How many points is it per room? It can’t be 590 (which I get to based on 160/0.2712) since that would mean they sold less than 10K points the first day and that also doesn’t make sense.

Which room? Which season? Which day? Rates range from 10-200 points per day.
