@atthebeachclub - have you ever noticed my Avatar?

Happy you had a nice stay. Lights on the deck - in some seasons they attract way too many insects. I have a little battery powered camping light for my colder trips.

In my opinion, the Cast Members at Hilton Head really make the resort super enjoyable. On previous visits I've had some that came to my villa with treats (games, toys) for them (them = my two older granddaughters) when they knew I had run out of steam taking them around to the pools and other attractions. (They were usually on remote learning so had their chromebooks for school and could sign in for classes during the day. School ended by about 1:30pm leaving plenty of time for fun. Traveling alone with them at 4 to 8 years old. They are 1 year apart, and now 9 and a half and 10 and a half. I've reached the point where another adult has to be along when it is more than one of them because their energy level is way beyond mine - they are great kids - I'm just getting up there in age. I've also traveled alone with the younger one when she was in (paid) preschool, meaning not mandatory.

Lots of people on here love 1 bedrooms. I don’t get them. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in one. Done lots of studios, 2 bed and GVs but never a 1 br. It’s not really that many more points to go up to a 2 br. Or you could do 2 studios for the price of a 1 bedroom, and sleep twice as many. Of course you’re sacrificing kitchen and w/d, but still. Maybe it’s just me, but I just don’t get it.
Most of the time I am in a 1BR, it is just two of us. I will squeeze three---me, my partner, and one adult child---but that's unusual. Once we get to four, the 2BR is the minimum viable size.

For me, the vacation experience in a villa is just much more pleasant than in a studio. I will do a studio for a long weekend, but that's about my limit. Anything longer and I want a living room and the amenities of a Villa.

Is it more expensive? You bet. Is it a "bad" value? Not for me. I do not care that it costs double the points of a studio. Well, I care, but it doesn't make any difference. I did not buy a timeshare to stay in a glorified hotel room for a week. On the other hand, I do not want (or need) to stuff the unit. I like my elbow room.

Here's the easiest way to describe it: If I am at WDW for a week, I would rather stay offsite at Bonnet Creek in a 1BR than in a single hotel room or studio onsite.

I agree. I subtract 1-2 people from whatever Disney says the room capacity is.
Re Studios, I don't mind them at all if it's just me or me and my wife. But I don't generally do laundry in the villas nor do I have any desire to cook in the room.

Amazing!! How is the ocean water? You may have convinced me to do VB next April!
About 78 degrees and the surf has been rough. Not too rough for us to go in, but the resort itself wouldn't rent boogie boards because of the surf conditions (understandably). If you brought your own, you could try to brave it. My 7 year old who is a pretty good swimmer loved it.

Can't wait to hear your opinion of VB!
On the whole, we have really enjoyed it. I can definitely see us coming back. I could even see us doing a whole week here. Yes, it would be a slow, low key vacation, but we're good with that from time to time.

I'll write a full review sometime this week.

A few years ago during the VGF fire sale, we got 2 gold water bottles. I'll let you know what we get as we just closed a direct VDH contract a couple of weeks ago. UPS shows something from "Ccg" in West Caldwell, NJ, as "label created", but not shipped yet. I'm not expecting anything, so if this isn't from DVC, I don't know what it is.

We added the VDH contract on what was our resale-only VGC membership, so it will be interesting to see what date they list.

It must be part of their new sales strategy: if you want another gold water bottle, you could always add another direct contract. 🤣
After recently closing our direct 200 pts VDH contract, we received 2 packages today. I don't know if it was because of the number of points we bought, or because DW and I have different last names. Each package had a gold water bottle, cooling towel, magnets, and welcome home certificate. The welcome home certificate shows our original DVC purchase date ~5 years ago even though this purchase was for a different UY & membership number. The water bottles look pretty much identical to the ones we received after closing VGF a few years ago.
