Vanessa- figmentfan814 ~ Happily Ever Wedding & 10th Anniversary VR Brunch #1 Added 8-10

Aww Vanessa!!! the little girl's looked so cute!!!!!! What a fun day!!! I love your disney bride shirt!

It was so cute to see them all decked out. I know they weren't too happy about having to carry their hat boxes on the plane and their luggage didn't arrive until 20 minutes before we had to leave so they were running around getting dressed at the last minute. They had a great time though, so it was all worth it in the end :)

Loving your TR - those food pics from Tea were making my mouth water!

You all looked like you were having so much fun - the hats were a great idea!

I'd love the picture for the Disney Bride t-shirt, and if it's not too much trouble, the instructions? I've never done anything like that before, so I need all the help I can get. :scared:
Thanks so much!

I sent you the image, but I'm not to sure on the directions. I bought the transfer paper for dark colors (because I heard that's the best) but my dad and mom actually did the transfer for me  Maybe someone else has some advice. I know there are some threads on the creative board that tell you the best ways to do an iron-on.

Hey Vanessa, this is a brilliant trip report.

I still can't believe all the things you had for your guests, what a thoughtful person you are

I'm glad to hear you are on the mend from your accident too x

Thank you :goodvibes The biggest thing was that I wanted to make sure that our guests who had never been to Disney before saw that it isn't just Mickey mouse and kid rides. I wanted people to see the other side of Disney that we all love. I think I converted some people into Disney fans by the end of the weekend
:tinker:

I was so glad that I didn't have too much trouble getting around when we were down there this time. I did have to take some breaks when we were walking (more than usual) and I was able to get a massage at the GF spa to help with some relief, but I am definitely on the mend. I don't think I was suppose to ride all the rollercoasters, so don't tell my doctor :rolleyes1 I just can't wait to be done with therapy... it takes almost 6 hours out of my week :headache:

Hey Vanessa-

Loving your trip report! The tea sounds fun! Love all you girls in your hats!
Not a tea drinker, but I told DF I wanted a tea! :rotfl: Also, no bridal party! Me alone (in a cute hat) at tea! Actually, sounds lovely!!!

Love your shirt! Cant wait to hear more!!!

Thanks so much - I really appreciate it! pixiedust:

Can't wait to hear more & see more pics! :goodvibes

I am so loving your TR!!! I love to read about people's weddings! You have done such a great job,you should be a wedding planner yourself! I can't wait for more!

Loving it all! Thanks so much for continuing our E Ticket ride to your wedding day!

:worship:  :woohoo:  :thumbsup2

OMG...You do know what an E ticket is, don't you? I have dated myself!!

I am so enjoying your trip report...

If it isn't a problem, could you email me the Disney Bride pic. Thanks,

Not a problem, I just sent it over :thumbsup2

Im really enjoying your TR. Everything looks great. Im so happy for you.

Thank you! :)

Sandy, the Garden View Tea Room is so much fun. I think it would be a nice relaxing afternoon to enjoy it by yourself :goodvibes I actually might have to do that some time, it sounds heavenly!

My DH has bugged me for years about doing something like that… I have coordinated a lot of major events/fundraisers with several hundred people which definitely helped in this whole process. I have thought about doing a side business to help destination brides handling newsletters and gift bags. After going through this myself I know how much work it can really be :rotfl:

I wish I could write faster, I can't wait to get to the wedding day! :yay:

Yes, I do know about E tickets :goodvibes They talked a lot about them when I did a tour at Disneyland “A Walk in Walt’s Footsteps”

When we headed out from the tea, I was so excited, we had been at Disney for 3 days and I had not gone into any parks yet. I kept telling people I just wanted to go do something fun that was not wedding related!

After making our way to Epcot, we grabbed some shots in front of the Spaceship Earth and then Judi came over to meet us. We knew we were short on time, so we wanted to hit up whatever was open. Spaceship Earth had a relatively short line and I was excited to see its updates. Since Judi had her scooter we got to go through the handicap entrance which saved even more time!

A shot of Judi and I from the ride:
WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld468.jpg

This shot is a little fuzzy, but you can see Amanda, Judi and I in it:
WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld473.jpg

We then went to check out the time board to see what had a decent wait time. I wanted to do Figment, but Judi insisted on Living Seas since we would be there for the wedding in two days. I’m not a fan of the Nemo redo, I like Turtle Talk with Crush, but the clam ride thing is kind of boring. I preferred it years ago when you rode in similar cars and just got to look at the aquarium without the character stuff added.
100_0512.jpg

Judi smiling in the background and my mom looking a little caught off guard:
WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld475.jpg

After we got out of Living Seas the guys starting calling us nonstop because they were back at POR and wanted to know when they needed to head to the campground. On top of everything, my phone was already dying from all the calls that day. Kris also couldn’t find Patriece to have her ride over with them (she was actually in our room, but I guess they didn’t think to check there  ) and Marquitta had gone to the airport because her husband wanted a different car because he thought it was the greatest thing being able to exchange cars for free (forgetting the time, gas, and tolls that go into every switch :upsidedow)
100_0513.jpg

100_0514.jpg

The guys ended up heading out and Patriece finally called me. I gave her directions on how to get Fort Wilderness and then we decided it would be better for us to head out too. The hayride wasn’t until 8 p.m., but we wanted to check out the campfire program beforehand too. Here were my invitations that I made for the Welcome Party:
WelcomeParty-Invitation.jpg

We took the bus to Fort Wilderness and then transferred to one to head to the area with the campfire program. The guys were already back by Pioneer Hall and were trying to decide if they were staying there or if they would come up to meet us. We got there before the movie while the ranger was leading the sing-a-long with Chip and Dale.
chipanddale.jpg

We didn’t stay here too long. I think it would have been much better if they would have gotten to the singing, but the ranger was doing some banter back and forth with Chip and Dale and this was kind of overdone and her voice was a little irritating. I also would have loved to see the movie that was suppose to play a little later too. Monsters, Inc. was going to start right before we left for the hayride. The campfire program is nice and I think if you went just for the movie it would be better. They had campfires set up where you could roast marshmallows which would have been yummy! If you don’t have kids I suggest skipping the sing-a-long part and go straight for the movie.

By this point, we headed out and decided to walk to Pioneer Hall since we thought it couldn’t be too far. It actually wasn’t too bad of a walk, it took about 15 minutes to get there. Kris called in the meantime because they had went to the campfire area, so they walked to catch up with us.

When we got to Pioneer Hall it was nice to see that a lot of our guests had already arrived. This was nice because we hadn’t gotten to see everyone yet. I also got a call from Patriece at this time saying that she was on the boat on her way over from Magic Kingdom. Kris and I walked over to the dock to meet her. I was excited because I hadn’t gotten to see her since her arrival earlier in the afternoon.

By the time we got back over in front of Pioneer Hall Marquitta called and said she was running late and wouldn’t make the hayride. Judi and her parents decided to grab dinner at Trails End (they weren’t planning to go on the hayride anyway) so we could meet in front afterwards to head over for the Pirate and Princess Party. pirate:

The wagon then pulled up and they said that we could start loading. During this time my mom started looking for her cousin (their family was driving in from the Villages and had went to the game earlier, but hadn’t arrived in Orlando yet). She ran down to catch her at the buses and they ended up at the wagon, so we had to send someone to get my mom!
wagon.jpg

The hayride was a lot of fun especially for the kids. It was a nice peaceful retreat compared to all the running around that we had done. Also, it was the first time we had a large group of everyone together since their arrivals in Orlando. We spent quite a bit of time in the woods and they pulled on the beach where we could see the castle and Space Mountain (sorry about the quality of the picture)

In the middle of the ride, Kris started getting calls from his best man (and cousin, the one who arrived early and we had to go pick up the night before) because he wanted to know where everyone was at (he never read anything that we gave him for the schedule) He doesn’t like sports and didn’t go with the guys to the game and went to see a movie at DTD instead. Apparently he was upset and had gone to get his own hotel room at one of the places on Hotel Plaza Boulevard by Downtown Disney. Kris then called Nich (the other groomsman) that had arrived around that time and sent him to catch up with Jeff.

The private hayride was a lot of fun and was an affordable option for a family friendly welcome party :thumbsup2 We went this route since we couldn’t afford to add a huge event, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was something that no one expected out of Disney. The total ride lasted almost an hour. I originally thought it was only supposed to be 40 minutes, so that was a bonus. They took us through a large area of the campsites and up to the front by all the stables too.

Vanessa -- The hay ride looks like a lot of fun! Sorry about all the effort required to coordinate everyone's arrivals, etc., but it sounds like you had it all under control! :thumbsup2

Vanessa
How many people did your wagon fit? This might be a fun idea... (Now can all of you please mentally picture my sister Caryn on a hayride :lmao: maybe she'll bring the birdcage veil!!!)

Vanessa-You are so creative, love the hay ride! my boys like to roast marshmellows at the campfire, my dad always comes with us on our disney trips and he stays at the campground(:rotfl: sometimes i have to pay to get him there) but the kids like to run and play over there! i'm sure thry would love the hayride:)

It did get kind of confusing with so many people, but thankfully it all worked out in the end :)

The hayride was so much fun for everyone; I highly recommend renting the wagon! It will hold 30-35 people depending on the ratio of kids to adults. We had 28 and still had plenty of space since there is a seat all along the center of the wagon too. I definitely think the birdcage veil is a must! :rotfl:

It was just a short walk down from where they have the campfire. I really wanted some marshmallows after I saw everyone walking around with theirs :yay:

Hi Vanessa

I just read your entire TR and now I'm up to date. I absolutely love the welcome bags. That I nice idea to have totes. So far everything looks great. I so wished I got married at Disney but I didn't know that existed. I have been married for 11 years but I am planning on doing a VR for our 25th so I'm getting some ideas from the wedding planning. Can't wait for more pictures, the ones that I have seen are great.

Laura

Laura~

I'm so glad that your enjoying my TR so far. I really wanted to have something that people would use again in the future, so that's why I went with the totes. It was great to actually see people using them later in the week :goodvibes

I think a VR at Disney would be fantastic! My matron of honor sent me a text message the day after the wedding saying that she had so much fun that she couldn't wait until we planned a VR for 10 years. The funny thing is that we never mentioned a VR, so I think it was a hint for us to plan one :rotfl:

This post has a lot of pictures from our Photo Pass CD which just came in a couple days ago. My parents bought this for us from our honeymoon registry and it was such a great gift. By the time I added borders and changed different pictures we had 299 shots on it. I also had several people (it only works if people haven’t registered their cards online yet) in our group give me their Photopass numbers, so their images could be added to the disk. :thumbsup2

My MOH had originally planned for us to go to Pleasure Island or even City Walk at Universal for my bachelorette party, but I’m not a drinker and not big on dancing either (I do ballet and other choreographed stuff as a hobby, so club dancing isn’t really my thing.) Marquitta and Amanda aren’t really club people plus (we later found out) Patriece was pregnant, so she wouldn’t have had too much fun either. After a lot of thought she came up with the idea of the 5 of us going to the Pirate and Princess Party instead. When she asked me what I thought I said of course, it sounded great to me! pirate: princess:

Judi met us in front of the Trails End Restaurant (next to Pioneer Hall) right after the hayride. She had goodie bags for all of us girls. The gift bags had a picture frame, Disney princess chocolates, a light up butterfly wand, and some hand lotion (I need to take a picture to post.) She also brought tiaras and wings for everyone to wear. After all, you can’t go to the P&P without getting dressed up a little. Since the hayride wasn’t over until around 8:45 p.m. the party had already started at Magic Kingdom, so we knew we would miss a few things.

Here are some shots of us getting all decked out:
100_0532.jpg

100_0536.jpg

The four of us ready to head out:
100_0539.jpg

At this point, Marquitta was not at the campground to meet us like was originally planned. We called her cell and found out that her clothes were still in my parents’ room from earlier that morning and she was still wearing her dress from the tea! She was held up because they had switched rental cars all the way over at the airport. We decided to send Kris back to meet her with her ticket to get into the park. She was supposed to call us once she arrived (which ends up being really late.)

The guys were also supposed to send a couple other things with Marquitta too. Amanda had made her own wings that she had accidentally forgot in the room and I wanted my jacket. Marquitta has never been to Disney before and I had wanted to walk inside the park with her to see her face when she first saw the castle (there’s nothing like bringing new people to Disney). Plus, she’s a huge fan of Disney- knows all the movies, songs, etc.

We then all jumped on the boat to the Magic Kingdom. Once we got there the guys went to catch a bus to POR and we headed into the park.

It was so cool how they had the fog set up in the tunnels going into the park. When we got inside we immediately headed towards the castle for a group shot. We also wanted to check out the fireworks which were just getting ready to start.

WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld510.jpg

Our first picture in front of the castle:
image021.jpg

After we got our shot we decided we were starving, but had found out the fireworks were getting ready to start, so we staked out a place to watch them. I don’t have any pictures because I decided to video, so Marquitta could see them later. I have to admit these fireworks were AWESOME!!! pixiedust: I have seen the regular fireworks as well as the Very Merry Christmas Party show plus ones at Disneyland and these were by far the best. There was fire and lights shooting off the castle and all kinds of really cool effects. I highly recommend the party just to see these fireworks. Unfortunately, we had missed the parade which I have heard is also really good.

When the fireworks ended, Marquitta called and said she was just leaving POR. We were all hungry, so we headed into Adventureland. I was going to get a Dole Whip (something that Marquitta had been really wanting to try too) but we decided we wanted real food, so we were going to head to Pecos Bill for hamburgers. On the way, we hit up some of the treasure spots and rode Pirates of the Caribbean. We got crowns and beads and the treasures spots. There was also an area to get pictures with Jack Sparrow, but the line was 1 hour and we didn’t have the time to wait!
WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld512.jpg

Waiting for more treasures:
WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld513.jpg

When we got off Pirate’s they had a lot of the P&P merchandise too. Judi kept trying to get me to buy a sweatshirt because I was a little cold, but I’m from Michigan I could survive. Plus, I really didn’t want to shell out $30 for a sweatshirt that I didn’t really need.

After that we finally made it to Pecos Bill’s. Amanda and I got in line for burgers and Judi went to help Patriece find a turkey leg. Before we came to Florida Patriece had told me the only thing she wanted to do the entire weekend was to get a turkey leg (she has only been to the Magic Kingdom on prior trips and always gets one to eat.) Anyway, they came back a few minutes later because the cart was closed. Then Marquitta called and said she was up front (this was already 11:00 p.m.) so Judi decided to use her scooter to race up to the front to find her. While Judi was gone, she picked me up the sweatshirt, which I thought was really sweet!

Amanda, Patriece, and I used this time to ride the Haunted Mansion. They squeezed us all into one buggy. We aren’t little girls to start with and the wings added made it an interesting ride!

Amanda finally got the wings and skirt that she made. Judi told everyone that we were dressing up, so she these for herself. Thankfully, Marquitta was able to bring them over.

Topiary along the way in line for pictures:
WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld516.jpg

When we got out they called and met us out front. We then headed into Fantasyland where we got tons of pictures with the Cinderella Carriage. The photographer was really friendly; she did individual shots and some in groups. But, as you can see the quality of Disney Photography can really vary. Some of them look fuzzy to me though, maybe it’s just me or it could be the lighting.

Marquitta makes her first appearance:

We have always done a Charlie’s Angels pose since college. We got some better ones the day of the wedding. I swear I look orange in this picture!

Everyone is supposed to look like they’re tired of waiting on me in this shot. I was supposed to be the princess for the evening. princess:

WeddingMarch32008WaltDisneyWorld519.jpg

I think we rode It’s a Small World at this Point, but I’m not sure. I know we did head over to Philharmagic next. Marquitta was singing so loud to all the songs, it was really cute. I only wish she could have spent more time in the park. This was the only time besides our dessert party and wedding that she went to any of the parks. I think she would love it and would really enjoy bringing her 3 kids too (twins- boy & girl- that are 2 ½ and a little girl that is 16 months).

We went into the gift shop with all the Donald stuff and Judi and I both bought some P&P pins. I have put all my pins that I picked up during the wedding on a corkboard picture frame that I had, so I need to take a picture to post.

At this point the park was closing and the party was over, so we started heading back towards the front. All of us together at last:
image055.jpg

By the time we got on the bus we were exhausted. The guys had called a little while earlier to find out what time we were going to be done. They were still out, so I’m not sure why it mattered. I told Kris I still needed help wrapping all the gifts for the rehearsal. Marquitta, Patriece, and I were staying together in my room that night and Kris was going to be in with the guys. We had both moved our stuff out of my parent’s room.

Anyway, by the time we got back Judi went to her room and then called saying that her mom had volunteered to wrap! This was such a relief; obviously none of the girls could wrap their own gifts. I still had to sit up and right out the cards, but I didn’t mind that at all. Judi then headed back to our room to grab everything that I had sorted in bags for her mom.

I was a little worried by the time we finished because it was almost 2 a.m. and no sign of the guys. They had threatened a strip club, but I doubted that any of them would really do that type of thing. I was also a little worried because Kris is not a drinker (he will have one or two a few times a year) so I didn’t want them to get him drunk either. It turned out they had just went to a sports bar to watch a game and had met up with Mark’s (Marquitta’s husband) friend from Tampa, so I guess we had more fun after all! When they got back Kris ended up crashing in Page’s room.

Up next… the rehearsal and ESPN weekend
