Here's a very simple opinion.
Moderates are better than Values
Deluxes are better than Moderates
They are ALL quite nice for what they are. (Value - a basic hotel w/ few amenities, Mods - a basic hotel w/ nicer amenities, Del - a resort hotel)
To me, you stay where you can afford to stay. We went back and forth on our next trip with Mod versus Value. (We simply could never afford a Deluxe room - and the only way I ever spend $250+ on a resort hotel is if I am spending all my time at the resort, not away from it.) We decided to pay the extra for the Mod because (1) we will be spending more time at the resort and (2) the pool has more shaded areas to avoid the August heat. I think we will likely stay at a value for our Dec '09 trip.
