Valentine's Traditions Love Bugs

I was thinking of starting a new Valentines Tradition with my 6yr old daughter. This past Christmas we had an Elf visit us till Christmas Eve and she loved it. So I was thinking of starting a tradition of having Love Bugs visit from Feb 1 till Feb 15.
In our mail box there will be a letter from the love bugs stating that they will be sprinkling the world with happiness and love this time of year but need a place to rest in between their flights to far off lands. So would it be ok if they stayed at our house. They of course heard of my daughter through Santa and her elf Candy Kisses. So here's my questions. Do I make the love bugs visable to her?
A little back ground....
For the elf what I did was by an Analeee elf.
The elf only came alive while she was sleeping. She had to leave it a snack and ice water and sprinkle special magic snow flakes for it to come alive at night. It only woke at night because it was used to being up while all the kids slept. Remember Santa delivers presents while you are asleep. When she woke up she had to find out what the elf did all night.
The elf played with her toys, read books to her stuffed animals. TP'd the living room, decorated the tree with her underwear, shirts, socks etc.

So do I find little stuffed bugs, make some love bugs or do I say the bugs are just to small to see? The LOVE BUGS will do little things like the elf did.

Things the bugs could do will be make valentines for her, decorate her room, send her on a treasure hunt. bake her heart shaped muffins.

You could also help me to come up with some Valentine's idea's that the
LOVE BUGS can do.

So that's my new bright idea. ANY help or suggestions you could give would be great in helping me start a new tradition.

If you already have a tradition. By all means post it here so we can exchange thoughts.

Thanks

I will also be having my daughter prepare for the Love Bugs by taking a shoe box and making them a home with little beds, a Barbie tv etc.

What a wonderful idea!!!

I don't think the Love Bugs should be visible. I think they should be like the Elf, Easter Bunny, Santa, etc. It's much more magical that way.

It might be cute to do like the "14 Days of Valentine's Day" and introduce your daughter to the Love Bugs on Feb. 1st and give her the whole story. Then for every day until Valentine's Day, the love bugs will visit and do sweet things for her, if she keeps their home nice, leaves them treats (like you did with the Elf), etc. Then on Valentine's Day have the Love Bugs do something big! Like decorate her entire room with pink and red, and balloons.

Again, that sounds like a great tradition to start!

Thanks so much for your reply. If you have any more idea's on what the love bugs could do let me know.

I'm sure you use Family Fun for ideas but here's the link to their Valentine's Day section.

Maybe you could do some of these crafts with her and leave them for the Love Bugs? OR they could do the crafts and leave them for her.

I think it sounds great! Kids are little for only a short time so the more magical things you can do, the better! Keep the love bugs hidden, I think it makes it more exciting.

I thought for a minute this thread would be about those darn love bugs that invade Disney...........phewww

We had an elf visit us for Christmas too! Her name was Tinsel and my son loved her so much that Tinsel brought him his own little elf to remind him of her until next year. We also asked Santa if Tinsel could come visit during his birthday (May) and Santa said yes (of course). A friend of mine is responsible for that idea! ;) I saw the Love Bugs in Family Fun - was thinking of doing it myself... DS is 7 so only a short time left for this sort of thing... Most of the boys in his 2nd grade class this year didn't believe in Santa or elves, but DS said he had PROOF! LOL So sad that those kids have already lost the magic...
