Vacation Tips for Women! :)

Have to teel you thanks to everyone who recommended this product. Went to WDW in October this year and it was in the 90's most of the days. DH, DB, DB girlfriend and myself used this product and loved it. We called it our little tube of magic. It helps with rubbing and sweating.

Also has helped me when breaking in new shoes and they are rubbing on one spot so I don't get a blister.

Glad it helped:goodvibes I think it is a godsend in a tube.DH agreed this past trip too.I buy several tubes at a time and stockpile them since I also use it as makeup primer

I thoroughly read this whole thread before my trip last September and here's a list of the tips that worked best for me:

1. Body Glide on inner thighs and under breasts. I am "Pooh-sized" and am a great believer in the Monistat Anti-Chafing gel for daily use but after trying a hot park day with each, I can tell you the Body Glide held up longer.
2. A can of Suave Powder scent spray deodorant/anti-perspirant ... spray the inside of your clothes before dressing. It really helped eliminate the sticking-to-you that happens in humidity.
3. Band-Aid brand friction block stick. It's tiny enough for your pocket, doesn't melt in the heat and is super easy to apply on any hot spots on your feet.
4. I am a DDD bra size and was looking for a small but efficient purse to carry. I found the most awesome one at Target in the travel section. It's made by Swiss Gear and was about $18. The strap is long enough that I could wear it crossed-over my chest and it still hung down by my hips! The strap was easy to shorten to just a loop for your wrist. It had some super security features (straps that couldn't be cut, zippers that could be locked, and clips versus velcro for opening). The layout was a thrill with loads of convenient space. It was about the size of a vertical box of tissues. Here's a link:

5. As a "Pooh-sized" woman, I find cotton underwear and pants can become damp in the crotch area after a long day. Land's End has a line of underwear, shirts, pants/shorts/skorts made with an anti-microbial and moisture wicking fabric. They are in petite, regular and plus sizes. I tried them for this trip and noticed a huge difference on the days where I wore those. I am a convert! Here's the link:

What is the best clear deodorant. I've tried a few, but still get reside lines on clothing. We are doing a cruise as well as Disney and the western carribean will be hot to say the least, but I don't want residue on anything.

Also any recommendations on travel jewelry cases?

The best thing I've ever had for a travel jewelry case is the one I was given for Christmas 2008. It made countless weekend trips, It gets thrown in my bag for track meets so I can take my jewelry off before I run, and so much more. If it gets dirty (for some reason) it can be thrown in the washer. My old one has zippered sections, but the new one does not. I've also used mine as a tech case for team travel when I will only be wearing the jewelry I'm already wearing. I can put my camera, and ipod in it with room.

It's a Vera Bradley Jewelry Case. It's a soft case, and sections. I take embroidery floss organizers and wrap my chain necklaces around it so they don't get tangled.

I like #2. I hadn't heard that one before. Any reason it would need to be the Suave brand or the Powder scent though or would any spray deodorant or anti-perspirant work? Just curious.:confused3

I agree with you that Body Glide holds up better than the Monistat anti-chafing.

To keep chains from tangling, use an ordinary drinking straw. Slit it up the side. You can either slip both sides of the chain inside or one side. Chains won't tangle.

There is one by Lady Speed Stick, called 24/7 gel, it says its Non-stop protection. Let me tell you this stuff ROCKS! I usually carry a small deo in my bag at the parks, but since finding this, all i have to do is use it once, and it works all day! I love this stuff! :)

Thanks I'll have to try it. I'm currently using Suave 24 hour Tropical Paradise scent. It says that it glides on clear, but I find that it leaves a residue. I love the scent though.

Oh no! My family is all red-headed & very fair. We slather on so much sunscreen that we rarely get burnt. But, when we do--I sometimes use our aloe vera house plant. I LOVE the bottled aloe you can buy at Walmart or whereever in the sunscreen section. (It's usually bright blue or green.) It has lanacane or something like that in it. It cools your skin while the aloe heals it. :thumbsup2

I know these was almost a year ago but I have to tell you all about a tip I learned the hard way. Any time you burn, take vinagar, regular white vinager, and rub it all over you. I used a cotton ball because its softer than a washcloth but if I had any of those make up pads I would have used those. You smell like a pickle but let me tell you its worth it. My mom and I got burnt horrible (as in only strapless bra and touch me and die!) in Savannah GA this past year and vinager helped me so much!!

Oh and lots of good lotion, I use a face lotion, something that super full of moisturizer. Once the vinager 'dries' take a large amount of lotion and rub it in. Don't rub it all in but keep it 'moist". I swear by the stuff!

Also for those who were talking about only taking medicine to 'control' when you get your period (only taking for a certain amount of time) be careful. I took this last May and I am still having problems! Mood swings, cramps, murder....well not murder but I had to get on regular bc so my boyfriend didn't end up with his throat slit! Just keep an eye out of that problem and don't let it go on like I did, thinking it was normal.

Oh and I love this thread.....first post on it and its great!

Oops - I guess it wouldn't really matter! :lmao: I don't have any experience with spray deodorant or anti-perspirant so I went with the one the previous poster had suggested. I will say the scent was plain enough for me, it didn't leave a residue and it was cheap. You could probably try any brand and make it work. :thumbsup2

Things I must have

spray sunscreen to apply in room and carry 2 mdskincare sunscreen wipes in purse for application at the park.

moleskin and bandaid foot blister prevention stick thingy

I bring a serious face scrub, facemask, body moisture spray, burts bees foot cream mint coconut, Lip Balm with a little color, deep conditioning hair mask.
(if your like me and you get tons of samples for the above take them so as not to have to carry full size products)

I only carry a smallish coach wristlet into the parks and am able to keep in it my parkpass, id, lipstain/gloss, 2 sunscreen wipes, 1 small hand sanatizer spray or little gel from bath body, a pack of gum, If its that time of month I also bring 1 lunette wipe I only need to change menstrual cup once if at all while at the parks or if I wear tampons I bring tapax pearl compact I bring two liners and 3 feminine wipes and my cell phone. I swear it all fits in that thing and it weighs nothing its the only bad I'll bring into the parks and when I wear sunglasses I'll push them up like a headband at night.

always bring stuff that makes you feel feminine dont feel like you need to ruff it in the parks. I tend to wear cargo/capris that roll up or down to parks because I go in winter and it gets chilly at night if I bring a sweater its one that can either tie at neck or I bring a pashmina.

I do put on makeup and usually keep it very simple I like a long wear eyeliner a neutral shadow, Jane irdale foundation a little blush I will not touch up or reapply anything unless we go back to room and I have time I apply lipstain and carry a gloss for the rest of the day.

The one thing I really always feel like I can't be without is a bottle of water I bring one into the park with me and then buy more through out the day.

I looked up body moisture spray on Sephora and can't find anything? Anyone have a brand name or a website I can find some? I am super dry and a spray would be so much nicer and I could get my back as well !!! :goodvibes

I'm a person who loves skirts in hotter weather, but I NEVER wear a skirt with just underwear underneath, being a cheerleader and gymnast, I wear "spankies" underneath all skirts and dresses.

They're just your basic biker shorts, spandex fabric, comfy, prevent chafing (which was the first reason I started wearing them) and prevent any underwear shots getting in and out of rides, etc.

If you're willing to invest in them, you can get a pair from LuluLemon, and they have a little "pocket" in the front seam, where you can put credit cards, your hotel key, or anything else really valuable, or that might get lost in a bigger pocket, or pickpocketed from a backpack. (this comes in really handy when going out clubbing as well, ID, money, etc, when you're not carrying a bag.)

DearDaisyinDurham: Thank you! I checked it out at Sephora :goodvibes I think that this product is designed for the face. I am ordering it anyways because it sounds like something I would really like. But I am still on the look out for a moisturizing body spray if anyone has info on that !

Thanks Daisy!!!

I live in FL and find the only way to keep make-up from sliding off by the end of the day is long wearing foundation (Estee Lauder or Revlon if you don't want to spend a lot) and loose powder. Also, I stick to clear mascara and only a little eyeliner (Estee Lauder again stays put) in the summer months to avoid the dreaded zombie/raccoon eyes. (no one's going to be able to see your lashes behind sunglasses anyway)

For sun, I've been plagued by fair skin my whole life, if I'm going to a theme park and the SPF in the foundation isn't enough, I use Coppertone Oil-Free on my face because it prevents breakouts. Also, I always make sure I pack aloe gel with Lidocaine for taking care of the post-sun skin.

I also like to stop at Bath & Body Works before any vacation and pick up a new scent of shower gel/lotion and body splash to use while away, then later when I'm home, any time I use it, it reminds me of being on vacation.

Thanks for the great tips. I like to keep it low maintenance while on vacation but at the same time I want to look decent.

DD
