Vacation Express Luggage Restrictions

Last week I received my travel documents from Vacation Express. Under Luggage Restrictions it stated: "Baggage allowance is 44 pounds (two bags maximum, plus one carry-on not to exceed 45 inches in combined overall dimensions) per paying passenger for all trips. "

Questions:
Does that mean a total of 44lbs in either one or two bags?

For anyone that has already flown VE, what types of luggage did you use? Was it weighed? Did anyone have to pay extra for heavier baggage?

I'm thinking I have to go buy new luggage (lighter ones)

Thanks

The weight limit in all probabilty means per bag. That's lower then almost any carrier I'm aware of. 50 is the lowest I know of-Delta does that. Watch your bagge weights. Some airlines will weight them all togther and if there not over(say 88 pounds for both bags) than there fine. Others weight individually. Some do it both ways!-they like to confuse us. If you pack heavily, try and distribute it some. For example, when my husband and I pack, we use 3 checkthrus, mostly just to distribute the weight. Yes, we overpack. Sigh...trying to improve that. Don't forget you have to get home again-souvenirs add up too. Good luck-are you flying from Avoca?

44 pounds total for both bags is common for charter airlines if you're on a charter package. Double check. Assume since they have lower maximums (even if it is 44 lbs/bag) they intend to generate extra revenue by charging for overweight.

Actually the website says it's 44 pounds per paying passenger. You don't get an extra allowance for lap babies and it's not per bag. One normal size suitcase will probably weigh (at least) 44 pounds. You might plan on paying the extra charge for a suitcase, buying some of your HBA in FL or trying to put some of the heavier stuff in your carry on.

Got old underwear and clothes you want to throw away. Pack them and dump them at the end of the trip. You will then have room for the things you buy.

Ahrizel, yes I am flying out of Avoca.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I might try calling them tomorrow. I'll let you know what response I get from them.

44 lbs is a whale of a suitcase... unless you are taking a lot of equipment of some kind I can't imagine needing anything near 44 lbs per person for a WDW trip... our family of 4 went to Europe in cold weather for 10 days with just under 50 lbs of luggage...and I have 2 teenage daughters that packed everything but their friends!!

A 29" rolling bag can weigh 18 pounds empty. Women who pack a lot of product, make-up and shoes can add a lot of weight.

we just got back from flying with them and had no probelm with our luggage weight. our oldest daughter took our largest suitcase and had it packed to the gills!!! could hardly carry it!!! and i wish i could remember how much it weighed but they took it no problem!

Thanks mareb.....one less thing to worry about.
And neither one of our flights are full yet so that should help.
