Well as in only me! We leave on Sunday morning first thing, And all my boys had dental appointments yesterday, Check ups. And today My 4 year old started complaining of a tooth he injured 2 years ago! He says he wants a hammer so he can break his tooth and pout tylenol into it so it will stop hurting. so I think it's safe to say it hurts.

Soooo, I have been waiting all night for the dentist to call back, He just did and said he doesn't even need to see him. That he just needs an antibiotic that maybe they made the tooth irritable. He has tried to reassure me he is FINE to go away. I am however just not so sure. :earseek:

Wish me luck. I will see if he sleeps at all tonight.

Your dentist does not want to even see him :earseek: I would insist that they see him & take an x-ray at least. Did he just have a cleaning or did they work on that specific tooth also?? I am a dental hygienist and a cleaning does not make a tooth irritable. It may irritate the gum in an area.
But antibiotics would not be indicated in that case. Antibiotics would help if he was starting to develop an abscess. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving on a vacation without a confirmed diagnosis though.
Good Luck, Lori

Nope doesn't want to see him! Saw him on Wednsday, no cleaning he was there bcause he was complaining of tooth pain, So we were there to get checked. He was saying it was an eye tooth at that point which when x-rayed showed no damage. The dentist said if it was actually painful it's referrable to his front tooth next to it that we have been watching. ( as he injured it before) So he just took his first does of antibiotic we will see how it goes!

:wizard: Here's some pixie dust to make sure everything ends up OK. Have a great trip! :wizard:

Since your doctor did look at that specific tooth I'm sure he knows best.
You will know in about 24 hours or so. If those antibiotics will do the trick, it should start feeling better. Make sure to finish the whole prescription.
I feel for your son though. I'm sure he'll be much better by tomorrow. Good Luck and have a fantastic trip, wish I was going with you :)

My take on this is a little different. If the dentist knows you're about to travel and that something unpleasant is going on, and still won't let you bring your child in for another look, well, I'd follow his advice through the trip and if the kid has any trouble at all, I'd come down on the dentist like a ton of bricks and then take my business elsewhere.
