We are going on a Disney cruise with a large group for a wedding in Dec. The bride & groom have chartered a bus from the port to the airport. Here's our dilemma, We are going to WDW for a few days after the cruise and aren't sure the best way to get there :bitelip:

If we ride the charter bus back to the airport, can we then hop on DME and go to our resort?

Or would we be better off to rent a towncar one way from the port directly to WDW?

If we take a towncar from the port to WDW, can we then turn around and use DME to return to the airport at the end of our trip?

So many decisions--I'm so confused!! :confused3

You're staying at a Disney resort, right? Youre coming off of a Disney cruise, right?

Magical Express is an excellent way to go, before and after your post wedding Disney vacation.

Easiest thing to do is pick a flight, any flight, arriving at the same time your charter bus from the cruise gets back to the airport and make your Magical Express reservation the usual at least 10 days preferably 21 days in advance. (Hint: Don't talk about the cruise or the bus.)

Great! I was hoping that would work!

I suppose I would just take my luggage to the DME check-in desk just like I would if I pulled it off the baggage claim myself instead of them getting it?

Is DME check-in down by the baggage claim area?

Thanks, I was hoping I could save the $$ and use DME :cool1:

You don't have to go through all that. The Disney Cruise Line buses also go straight from the port to the resorts. They don't all go to the airport. When you come out, you have to purchase a transfer ticket to take a bus straight to the resorts. Unfortunately, I don't know the price of the transfer ticket but it is an easier option than going to the airport and then trying to transfer your luggage.

There are 5 of us so I was hoping not to have to spend alot of $$ if I could avoid it. Considering they already have a charter bus scheduled which is free and MGE is free!

Anyone know where to find out how much a transfer ticket is from the port to the resort on the DCL bus?

How long does it take to get to from the port to WDW?

Can you just buy a transfer at the port or do you need to plan ahead?

Thanks!

Disney runs busses from the cruise to the resorts. Why not just ride with them, direct?

I believe it is around $30 for just port to a WDW resort.

I don't see why you couldn't use DME, but it could take awhile to get from port to airport and airport to resort. If you don't mind the time and really need to save the money, then I think it would be fine. If not, the DCL transfer would probably be your best bet.

Because we only potentially need transportation one way--from the port to the resort. I wasn't sure if we could only buy DCL transportation for the ride from the port to the resort. And since there are 5 of us I wonder if it would just be cheaper to get a towncar from the port to resort. To many choices!!
