We have a one night Friday stay at SSR before moving to AKV Saturday in December. If we were to purchase the dining plan for the one night at SSR (assuming it would save us more than TIW which I will calculate soon) Would we receive- One table service credit and one counter service credit that we could use Friday of check in and/or saturday of check out- or do the credits need to be used in entirety on friday?

You have until midnight after checking out to use credits.

We do this sometimes too. Just keep in mind we always try to use our credits before checking into the next resort. Last year we checked into the second resort and could not use our credits from the first one. Seems they had to "close" our account at resort 1 first. The BWV staff helped us fix it. We had to charge/pay for the credit item/meal, then the staff at BWV reversed the charge and use the credits manually. It was complicated. So now we just try to use them up before switching resorts. Not sure if they fixed this problem, but we don't take a chance anymore. It's never a good feeling when you go to use a credit and it's not accepted.

Same thing happened to use last Thanksgiving. If you can, use the credits and snacks before checking into AKV.

And your resort mugs are valid at AKV for up to 2 week.

We often do this.

What prior posters have said about having to have the DP fixed after changing resorts is very true. Now, when I check into the 2nd resort I get them to check my credits. That usually gets them fixed in advance, although it is annoying to have to take the time to do this.

You have 2 full days to use the DP so this is sometimes a great opportunity to do signatures.

I was considering it because we cant use the TIW discount for candlelight processional package. For the kids- its a no brainer and saves us money- but for DH and I- I feel like we would be ordering more food (apps and dessert) to make it worth our while. hmmm

DH and I always do this for our one night studio stays before we change resorts and rooms. We've been doing the deluxe since it is only the two of us. It is pricey, but Disney loses money on us....or I should say we get more than our money's worth. We usually stay either at BWV or BLT. We will use one TS for a nice sit down lunch in Epcot (Italy) or Yacht & Beach (Captains Grill). I like getting appetizer, entree and dessert. For dinner it's narcoosees, Yachtman's Steak House, California Grill. At Narcoosees, the poached lobster tail and filet is like a $65 entree. I realize we have to pay the tip on top of that, but it is nice to eat like that once in a while. If we want wine, we use our TIW card for that.

We also get two pricey snacks in Epcot during F&G and F&W. Plus the mugs. You will enjoy having them in December because you can get hot chocolate!!

then again, it is only the two of us....so probably would not get the deluxe with kids.

However.....I read about changes they are making to the dining plan regarding being able to get salad or soup instead of dessert on the regular dining plan. I have yet to see an official announcement from Disney yet....it was supposed to start today. So, this could influence your choice too.

Wanted to add that we always make sure to stop at the front desk at the new resort to make sure the credits are still active. There used to be some trouble with that in the past, but it was all good for our trip last month.
