UPDATED December 30, 2012 @ 6:00 PM.

I just called the Front Desk and spoke to Danny, who called Recreation and confirmed the following:

Luna Park Pool will close on January 28, 2012
Guests staying at Boardwalk Villas will be permitted to use Storm Along Bay during the closure.

~ David

Why would they have to negotiate? How long will it be closed?

Because they are two different resorts and one is already crowded with three hotels using the pool? It is supposed to be closed until sometime in March.

It's nice to get an update from someone who practically is a resident of Walt Disney World.

When SAB was "partially" closed a little while ago guests of the BC, BCV, and YC were allowed to use the Luna park Pool. Now that the Luna Park Pool will be completely closed why shouldn't the reverse happen?
In addition, just think about it - the quiet pools are too small to accomodate all the guests of the BWI and BWV. Management is going to have to find them accomodation, and my bet will be the SAB, as this pool is the closest for BWI/BWV guests.

Thanks for the update. Here's hoping we can use SAB!

How long is Luna Park Pool going to be closed?

C&P off DIS rehab page.

Disney's Boardwalk Resort- BoardWalk Bakery expansion - BoardWalk Bakery will be closed during this work. A coffee cart will be available on the boardwalk area during this time. Closed 01/02/13 - 04/12/13. Luna Park Pool refurbishment - Guests may use the other leisure pools located next to Community Hall or on the Inn side.Closed 1/28/2013- 3/1/2013

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info! This will impact our trip next month too. While I'm more of a quiet pool type of person, I do feel for the families where the pool slide is a factor in the selection of their resort. Not having a pool slide would really upset my granddaughters if they were traveling with us on this trip. I've been at BWV in the past when the main pool was closed and folks were allowed to use SAB and there was transportation. We were at the WLV one year when the main pool was closed and the villa/quiet pool was packed.

I've been to disney in January and in February. It's far too cold to swim. Is this even an issue? Maybe March.

Sometimes! We go in late January every year and while sometimes it's only in the 70s I do have to say last January it was in the 80s and we found ourselves in the pool almost every day. It's probably one of the hardest trips I take a year to pack for. I pack a little of everything and laundry detergent. Last year we never used our gloves, hats, or sweatshirts....crazy...We leave in 3 weeks and I've yet to even think about packing.

It's rare for it to be cold. The average highs are in the 70s, and with sun that's plenty warm enough to swim. The last three times I went in December-January it's been in the low 80s...awesome swimming weather.

While its not fair for those at BWV to not have access to a feature pool, at the same time, is it fair for those at BCV to deal with an overcrowded pool? It's already hard to find a seat at storm along bay at times.

Remember that BCV owners were welcomed to the BWV pool when construction was going on at SAB--and the BWV feature pool can also be hard to find a seat at times. Seems like turnabout should be fair play. I am surprised that this is an issue this time. It has not been a problem in the past. The fact that the closure is NOT a high use time for pools should make this a no-brainer.

My letter from Disney states the pool will be closed starting on 1/2... disapointing, since we check in on 1/5 and this means no slide for the kids. All DS wants to do at the pool is go down the slide over and over again... I hope SAB becomes an option.

I read on another thread that there's a typo on the letter. Should be 1/28. The bakery is 1/2.

I just opened our letter today, we were so upset. Although the clown freaks me out, my 3 kids (3 to 11) love the slide. I've been looking to move to another resort, can still get kidani for our week, but DH really wants to stay here. This is our first trip that we are "scheduling" a pool day, which will be difficult if there's no pool! Hope SAB comes through...

This would make sense, but they notified me (going 1/19) that the pool would be closed for our stay. Unless whoever sent the letter had the dates wrong, then that would explain a lot. I read somewhere recently that the pool with the slide at SAB will be closed until the end of January, and that in that time guests can use Luna Park Pool. So maybe it really isn't closing until SAB is refurbished. However, that's REALLY wrong if Yacht & Beach Club guests can use the Boardwalk pool and not vise versa.

As I wrote in the other thread on this subject, I will be surprised if guests at BWI/BWV are not allowed to use SAB. In Feb/Mar 2011, when the Luna Park slide was being refurbished, a similar accommodation was made.
