URGENT!! Please help

This story was so heartwarming, and fortunately had such a happy ending! :) I hope mom and daughter have an absolutely fabulous cruise!

As an aside, I am a very happy past client of both Shirley and DU as well. I would not hesitate to use them both again in the future. This story alone shows how they go above and beyond, and how they truly care for their clients and folks from the DIS. Hugs to all... :)

So the next post I see where someone asks "Why should I book with a travel agent?" or "Has anyone used DU?" I am going to link them to this tread... and one other thing to remeber... IT IS SUNDAY ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!

Shirley, Norm, Kelsie and John could be kicking back in the back yard with a burger and Mojitos but instead they made magic.... This is what Disney is all about!! Thanks for doing what you guys do!!

This is simply Magical, and could not have happened without such magical people. A true representation of family. :grouphug:

Thank you Shirley, Norm, Verandaman, Kelsie, John, and everyone praying for this family!!!

I am also crying a river here. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

An amazing story! So many people went above and beyond to make this trip possible. It's great to read about the positive things others do to make happy endings for others.

Ironically, I had just read an article today on the Top 5 tourist scams. It's mostly about getting ripped off abroad, but it applies here as well! Especially with regards to protecting your wallet.

I've made some of my best friends here on the Disboards...

I feel in a way we are ALL a family and you just proved it!!!

This is something Mariah will NEVER forget... she truely has :littleangel: :littleangel: :littleangel:

Thanks everyone for validating what I believe. No where will you find this kind of service and kindness...it's well just... magical I guess. Bravo, well done, bon voyage.

Good morning all,
I felt like Dorathy from Wizard of Oz in the whirlwind of a tornado yesterday (I am sure Kelsie, John, Kelvin and everyone involved did) and by the time last evening got here, I was just mentally exhausted, but had a smile in my heart.
Setting all aside, the big lesson learned here, is that we are family and we do owe each other respect and help. We all are not perfect and we do make mistakes which is very human. We are here to help when we can, we are here to all be a safety zone and most of all, we are just a phone call away. It didn't matter if any of us had plans, it didn't matter what it took or what folks thought to make something happen and I am sure that Kelsie and I stepped hard on some folks - I know I did, but when it came down to it, Kelsie was the one that pulled it off, but again it didn't matter who did what - the fact is that we stuck together and did it.
There is not one of us that wasn't touch in some way and all of us were just heart broken when everything was cancelled and it appeared the cruise was off - I tried calling the local newspaper, the police anybody to get help for these great folks, but nothing seemed to come together although all of a sudden it was like "WOW!! it is coming together". For all of those that called wanting to help, you were like the super glue that kept Norm and I going so thank you all for the love and support.
This is what I keep preaching about on the board we are family and we all screw up, but that doesn't mean we divorce each other?
Anyhow glad all turned out so beautiful and just remember there are good folks out there and there are folks that will help just because they care and not hoping to make something off of you.
Now we have to see what the next chapter is when the ship gets here on Thursday for I believe both Steph and DD intend to go to Orlando to finish out the week, but then there is the problem of no CC etc but I am sure by then something will have worked out.
Blessings to each and all and have a great and safe Holiday
Much love always
Shirley and Norm

My heart goes out to anyone in this situation and I am so proud to be part of a community who are able to help like this - with a moments notice too and on a holiday weekend :scared1:

:grouphug: to all, it's great to know the community is as supportive and loving in the real world as it is in the virtual world :grouphug:

This story has (in the end) really brightened up my Monday at work :goodvibes

Great story! A big thank you to all involved for being such nice people. It's nice to hear a feel good story for a change. :thumbsup2

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to everyone involved in the getting these folks onto their cruise!

What a wonderful story. It is so nice to hear that there are still generous
people out there willing to help a stranger. I'm sure their cruise will be
extra magical and one they won't forget:flower3:

What an incredible story. It is the willingness to jump in and help a person who is just a name from the boards. This is the absolutely best community! KUDOS to all who helped this family have the trip of their dreams.

WOW. Just WOW! What an amazing story. I am so glad it had a happy ending, thanks to the wonderful people who took the time to help someone in need.

I've also used both Shirley and DU in the past, and would certainly use them again! Kudos to all of you.

Hope the cruise is a nice, relaxing trip with no more "adventures"!!

I don't know who they have their CC with, but when our credit card was stolen (we have a Disney Chase card), they overnighted us new cards.

Thanks everybody -- what you did was wonderful!

What an amazing story! I am thrilled that everything ended on a good note.

Dear Shirley, Norm, Kelsie and John,

Thanks a Trillion for helping family in a need. What an amazing happy ending!

Thanks to whomever posted a webcam of Wonder sailing away. I "could" see Steph and Mariah waiving to all whom helped today.

John, I am your client too and I am glad we picked DU as our TA. I am def writing Shirley's and DU number down, just in case!

We have always posted our cell phone numbers and because we did, during the 2004 horrific paths 4 hurricanes took, it made it possible for us to be there for those that needed our help.
It is always good to know that you have a safe zone (without any strings attached) away from home for you just never ever know.
I meant to add that Veranda Man is the one that let me know that Steph was in trouble and he is the one that posted the Wonder leaving - another great friend not only to me but the board as well - Andy is the one that is so kind to send the postcards to those wanting them and it is always at his expense. See what I mean about friends? Their worth is priceless. ;-))
