I am so impressed with everyone involved. I feel so fortunate that I am a client of DU for my cruise in November. I will never go anywhere else! Even more blessed that I am a member of the Disboards and can call many here, my extended family, though we have yet to meet. Shirley and Norm are the soul of disboards...the guardian angels Misty eyes as we "speak"! Life is good!

I'm floored by theis story. I didn't see it until this evening, but I'm so glad it all worked out. I told my husband about it and he was mightily impressed at how everyone just jumped in to help. You are a special group of people indeed!

Shirley, YOU are a very humble person. I don't care what you say about yourself and Norm. You are just plain great people. There are not alot of people who would go Way out of their way to do what you did, even with the help of so many other people.
It makes me thankful we went with DU when we booked last year and Kelsie, bless her heart has answered numerous crazy questions, and made sure we got first seating for dining. She's always very nice & prompt when answering all my questions. We will be hyper alert during our upcoming cruise on 11/14.
Like one poster said, I was on the fence with ordering baskets for this cruise. But not anymore. I will support small business' like yours. You're great people, with quality products. I know you don't do what you do for the recognition.
But I patronize business' like yours BECAUSE of what you do...with love.

This is a pure example of a VERY Happy ending when people ALL work together!!!! I hope they enjoy their cruise as they really deserve it! I hope to see pics of this very special cruise.

We have our next cruises booked with DU & so glad we made the choice in booking with them.

I have been following this all day and was so upset early on when it looked like they would not make it! I am so glad they are on board and so proud to be a member of this Dis community. I have been on two cruises with the Dis people and have made friends that I believe will last a lifetime. There is something about Disney folks and someone even more special about Dis folks.

a photo copy of passport is not a valid form of ID.

There are many debates about taking your passport on excursions or just a photocopy, but as we saw today a photocopy will not get you on the ship or on an airplane or accross most borders if the need arises.

What a wonderful ending to this story! It is a reminder that there are many wonderful people in this world. Unfortunately, we usually only hear about the bad news - but this certainly is good news worth sharing.

What a great ending to a sad story. It took many great people to make this thing happen. To all of those people you are amazing. There are some bad people in this world but thankfully they are outnumbered by people who are good and kind. I am proud to have DU as our travel agent and pray I don't ever need any heroic extras. I'm sure it will take a little while for her to relax after all this but she couldn't be at a better place to do so. Have a great cruise!

i can't say i am surprised, because as a past/current customer of both Shirley's and DU's, I know what great hearts they have and the lengths they go for their customers of just anyone needing some help.

so glad they are safely off and hopefully they can have a wonderful cruise- memorable to say the least. good to still see examples of folks paying it forward.

It would also be the case with a copy of a BC, but the fact is a passport is not necessary to get you on DCL's closed loop cruises and you do not need either form of identification to reboard the ships in the ports. For anyone concerned about this, take the ship's information with you when you go on an excursion and if there is a delay you can contact the ship's officer to retrieve your passport or BC from your room and get it to you in the port if it is needed for alternative travel.
