I need some serious help and I'm hoping someone has a kind enough heart to reply...

A friend and I are going down to Disneyland for our 6th year in a row and this time we thought we'd try spending a day in LA. I've read that there is a bus you can schedule to pick you up at the Disneyland hotel and drop you off at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for $40.00 round trip.

We bought tickets to see Wicked on May 20th without realizing it was a 3 hour show that doesn't start until 8 or 8:30pm and now we are worried about finding a way back to Anaheim so late at night. We are both from a small town and quite frankly, rather afraid of the idea of being alone in downtown LA at after 11 in the evening. PLEASE HELP! Ticketmaster will not let us exchange our tickets for another date to do a matinee and the bus service I found does not offer busses after 6pm.

Is there another way you would suggest we go about this? How much would a cab be approx? Is it safe to be trying to flag one down so late at night in LA by ourselves?

I appreciate any advice you can offer VERY MUCH!!!

MUCH thanks,
Ashley

There are hollywood tours that will get you near that hotel.

For Wicked, why not arrange for a limo or a town car to pick you up from the theatre and drop you at DLR.

In calif. I think you Phone for a Cab. Instead of "hailing a cab".

Roughly how much would you be looking at for these services at this time of night? My DBF and I wanted to see a little of the L.A night life, but I couldn't figure out a way of doing it...

I am also interested in knowing this. We are going in August and would love to see Wicked but didn't want to rent a car. Ashley, how did you find out about this bus service from the DLH? I wonder how much a limo service would cost. There are 5 of us. Anyone ever hired a car service for this trip? I have seen Wicked a couple of years ago in Seattle and am dying to see it again. You will love it Ashley!!!!!

I would also appreciate any advice or comments about transportation back to DL from Hollywood at night.

a limo service is an idea but how expensive would it be? i'm just worried about depending on the cab to ACTUALLY come when we call it, and waiting by ourselves and i hear its 27 miles from disney to la.... expensive cab!

I know this is probably the last thing anyone wants to do, but we just booked a rental car for only $13 a day using hotwire.

I would rent a car and map quest it and drive yourself. The drive back late night should be easy and the rental will be cheaper than the shuttle.

too young to rent a car or I would

Sorry- I know how frustrating that can be. I got married when I was 22, and DH and I have always traveled a lot, and I couldn't rent a car for the longest time. I understand it is a liability thing, but having to be 25 to rent stinks....

I don't have any other suggestions for getting around- I'm from NY and am going to LA for the first time next week, but we will have a car, as I mentioned.

Is there any chance you can sell your tickets on ebay or something like that (for face value) and then get new matinee tickets, or are tickets for Wicked as hard to come by out there as they are in NYC?

I guess I just figured no one on ebay would be buying for may. Do you think that would work?

I replied earlier but apparently didn't give the message long enough to actually post before I closed the window.

I don't know if people are going to be buying Wicked tickets for May. I don't have any idea what the demand might be, but if you set up the auction right (with a reserve for your cost OR a BIN at your cost- I'm sure ebay has strict rules about selling tickets) and can afford to lose a couple dollars in listing fees even if it doesn't sell, I think it might be worth a try once you have exhausted your other options. (And are you willing to not go at all if you sell yours and then find you can't get matinee?)

Even though we're old enough to drive, and can drive, we just don't want to. :rotfl:

The taxi fares don't look too bad - they are comparable to fares in Scotland for approximately the same distance. Seems like we'll take a cab back to DL if we find ourselves in Hollywood during the evening hours. ;)

Ashley17 - Hope everything works out for you and you do manage to catch a showing of Wicked. Friends of mine have seen it in London and said it was awesome! :hippie:

ok so let's say I keep the tickets and pay the cab fare...
-how safe is it downtown hollywood at 11:30pm for two young girls?
-how easy is it to get a cab once we call?

thanks!!

There will be a big crowd until well after the play is over. You should be ok.

thank you, I appreciate the advice. I've been downtown Las Vegas with a few girlfriends before at 2am and that was fine. I'm sure everything will be ok!

I got this from a google search...

Hollywood Roosevelt and the hotel at Hollywood & Highland are both across the street from each other, more or less. Hollywood & Highland used to have a shuttle to Wicked, not sure if they still do.

Flagging down a taxi in LA? Not likely unless you're at a hotel.

Red Line is an option since it is at both the theatre and Hollywood and Highland.

If you're going to see the mouse the next day, I'd personally drive down to Anaheim after the show. At 11 PM, there is no traffic and you'd be there in 30minutes. You can sleep in at your Anaheim hotel instead of fighting traffic.

forgive my being dense... what is red line? if its at the theatre i am intrigued as this may be a better option
