So UPS was in my neighborhood yesterday and today making deliveries from a golf cart pulling a wagon!

I must have missed something, what is up with this? I liked it though! :thumbsup2

This is the time of year when UPS hires 'drivers helpers', this could have been a helper, doing part of the deliveries, while the actual driver does others.

Pretty great idea though, my parent's winter place is in a golf course community, and everyone travels via golf carts.

I opened this thread because I misread the title as GPS in a golf cart & I wanted to see why & wondered if it was actually used for golf how bad a shot you'd have to be to need a GPS. :rotfl:

They did that in our old neighborhood (small city) a few years back - we've been gone 4 yrs now - so it was sometime before then. It was so weird when I 1st saw it

I just saw this in our neighborhood also. :goodvibes

I asked the driver what he thought about it, and he rolled his eyes and said it was actually taking him a lot longer to deliver. He said they put a big container out here and unload all the days packages to be delivered into it. Then he has to load the packages from it into his tiny little trailer and deliver those, then go back to the container and get more because that little trailer doesn't hold very many packages. So he's running back and forth to the container all day.

It sounds like someone sitting in an office must have come up with this timesaving (not!) scenario

GPS has been in golf carts for YEARS. It is really fun. Basically it is used to tell you how far you are from the hole on any given shot. You see these at upscale golf resorts (and some not so upscale) and popular, nicer, public courses too.

What is weird is I know the "sound" of the UPS truck, so when I am expecting a package I run to look and get it! (pitiful:upsidedow).

It was 2 guys and they snuck up on me. I actually screamed :scared1:when the doorbell rang as I was in they foyer and heard nothing! :) Then I saw them go to their golf cart and knew why! I will talk to them about it next week if they show up in it again. I imagine they will. I bet it is to save gas. Those big trucks stopping and going all day must drink it up.

Well that's cool. I am going to ask DH and DS about this. I imagine they have used one and never shared this info with me! Not that it affects me at all!

I thought so too. I think it's cute. Slower but cute. :)

We see that here this time every year. They load up from a regular truck parked in a rec. center and spread out to the neighborhoods. The first year we were here I did a double-take, but now I'm used to it. I haven't seen one yet this year, but they usually use the carts with trailers through the holiday season.

This is a huge golf cart community of about 80,000 and even the meter readers use them.

You should see the little bitty UPS brown truck (golf cart in disguise) they use at NHRA drag races to deliver parts to the race teams in the crowded pits. It's so cute. :upsidedow
