When purchasing, can you request I less day for the UPH at check in? Or do you have to purchase according to number of days stayng at the resort? Thanks

There has been inconsistency in the past on whether they will allow or not. I have been able to get them to do this at the Disney resorts, but I have never asked at the DVC resorts.

When I checked in recently at OKW, they asked me if I wanted to drop the last day. Also, we had guests join us who were able to drop both the first and last day. But it all depends upon who you get on checkin.

The other posters are correct--most CMs will let you drop a day, but this is reported to be an "unofficial" practice and will vary from one CM to another. I've never read a post from someone claiming that a CM wouldn't let them drop either the arrival or departure day from the UPH.

But, since you weren't specific about your situation, you do need to know that the only days that you could possibly drop from the pass would be your arrival or departure day. You can't pick a day in the middle of your trip and have it excluded from the duration of the pass.

So far we have never had a hard time dropping our last day. I'm not sure what we would do if they didn't allow us to do that at some point. It wouldn't be pleasant. ;)

So with the discount what would a 5 day pass be? Adult and child? We have APs but are bringing 8 with us to SSR Thanksgiving weekend. Trying to figure what will be the best deal for them.

You can find the current ticket prices here:

http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/ticketchart.htm

Take 10% off of the "Gate or Check-In" prices to reflect the DVC member discount (assuming that you are eligible).

Note that if you have the Premium Annual Pass, the UPH would be a good match for your guests. But if you just have the standard Annual Pass (admission to the 4 parks), the comparable pass would be a 5-day Park Hopper, for which DVC members do not receive a discount. You can usually get good prices on these passes via either the Disney Advance Purchase discount or third-party vendors like Ticketmania.

i am planning our family reunion for dec. and i also had questions, so while i am there for MH i am going to ask, i had asked at easter time about the prices, and i thought i could remember the prices, but i didnt so im going to write it all down and will post when i get back with the info.

i remember about 3 or 4 years ago i had a pass with 2 days on it and traded it in on the uph for df and he was staying 4 days but we got to drop the last day. and i think the difference then was $30 more to up grade.

The other tricky thing about UPHs is that you buy them for a number of nights, not days. So if you're planning to spend 5 days in the parks, you only need to buy a 4 night pass.

Most hard-copy ticket media can be upgraded. Disney can punch the serial numbers into their computer and find out how much they originally sold the pass for. They will then give you a credit equal to the pro-rated value of the remaining days on the pass.

Sometimes this will work out well. Now that WDW has two-tiered ticket pricing (advance vs. gate purchase), it often isn't as economical because you have to pay the higher gate price for your new pass.

Also if you bought your original passes from a vendor other than Disney, you won't quite get all of the value back in a trade. Third-party ticket vendors do add some amount to the wholesale price as their profit on the sale. Disney will only credit you with a prorated share of their wholesale price.

The notable exception to the ugprade rule (which probably doesn't apply to a DVC member) is that you cannot upgrade a UPH which is part of a package deal. For obvious reasons, many folks who buy room/ticket packages like the 5-for-7 deal would just love to turn the UPH into an Annual Pass, but that isn't permitted.

I suspect that your special Member Homecoming tickets would not be upgradable either, but you'll need those for the MH anyway.

I think I'll just have them buy 4 or 5 day hoppers + MVMCP tickets. We are only there for 6 nights and it is their first trip. Don't think we'll do water parks this trip. Thanks for the info.
