UPH or Annual Pass--Help!

I'm hoping I can get some good advice on this. We have
never purchased an AP before. We usually go on our trips
every October. This time we are staying 9 nights so it seems
that the prices would be very similar for the UPH and the AP.
My questions...is it a pain to activate the vouchers if I buy
the AP at the Disney Store before our trip? I usually buy
UPHs at the desk at check-in so it is really easy. I don't think
we will use the APs again in the 365 day period, but should
I get them anyway if it works out to be less than the UPH.
Any feedback on either way would be much appreciated--thanks!

You can buy your AP at the Guest Service window at any of the four main parks. It is very easy and doesn't take a lot of time. You can check here http://www.wdwig.com/breakeven.htm for the breakeven cost of an AP vs. a UPH.

You might want to factor in if you want to go to any water parks, pleasure island, or Disney Quest....those are all included in the uph but a regular annual pass is only for the 4 main parks.

A premium annual pass (includes water parks, DQ, PI) breaks even with about ten day's worth of unlimited magic passes if done over two or more trips to WDW in a year. For a single trip the breakeven is about 14 days of unlimited magic.

We purchased our AP's at the MK gate - was fast and easy (albeit we did not purchase at park opening - it was later in the day). One thing which you may know, is that to get E-Ride tickets (if they are on and you are going) you need your AP's first I think to get them (i.e. cannot get just with a voucher)

Another wrinkle with the AP - Disney takes a read of two of your fingers (fingerprints) for biometric scanning so others cannot use your AP - some people have concerns/an issue with Disney having this information

Thanks

When are you going? If your trip is before 10/30/03, the FTP may be an option for you. ~:D~

If you can arrange to take your October trips in two consecutive years so that the date when the 2nd trip ends is before the date when the 1st trip begins, you can do two years on a single AP. For example Oct 14-21, 2003 and Oct 6-13, 2004. The APs you purchase on Oct 14, 2003 will still be good for your entire 2004 trip. This can really save a lot of money, and will work for either regular or premium annual passes.
