I am going over everything for a budget for a (hopeful) trip in Feb. Hubby doesn't want to get sucked into AP's because we ended up doing 3 trips last time! LOL

So I was thinking I'd just get passes for now and then upgrade to APs if we decide to go that route.

How does that work? This is of course based on that they have not been used yet. So lets say a 6 day pass.

If I buy the passes at the Disney Store could I exchange them there or would I have to wait until I get to Disney?

Thanks!!!!

You would have to wait until you're at the parks to upgrade.

There's no way for the Disney Store to confirm whether the passes have ever been used, and that must be done in order to upgrade.

Just go to any Guest Relations location at the parks and they'll be able to take care of you. :sunny:

How does it work? If I paid $300 for the PHP would they just apply that $300 towards the AP and then I would only have to pay $100 more when I upgrade?

If the tickets haven't been used, or if you're within the first seven days of use, Yep!

There are a few wrinkles. For instance, if you have a PHP and you've used any of the Plus options, you can only upgrade to a Premium AP.

Here's a thread where I think we got into the nuts and bolts pretty well:

Everything you could think of to ask about upgrading tickets, right here!

Yes, if you bought the ticket from TDS or directly from Disney. (Not exactly true if you bought PHP from a discount broker). Here's a site that will answer all your questions regarding updrading WDW tickets:
