Hi everyone- I am an AP Holder, as is everyone in my family. I'm taking DD to DCA next week for her birthday, :smickey:and she chose as her "party" to bring her BFF with us. BFF does NOT have an AP, so we will be buying a ticket for her. Her parents are considering strongly getting passes again, but won't be able to until end of this month. My question is, if I buy the SoCAL deal for 2 day pass 1 park- per day Where she gets one park on one day, and will have a remaining day on that ticket to use by certain date, if I give her parents that ticket, can they use it to upgrade it to AP? Understanding that her expiration date would be the first day the ticket was used, Feb 12. Just thought if I'm going to pay for a ticket for her, I might as well help them out a bit with her pass.

Thanks!

There is actually a nice perk with the Southern CA passes this year. Most tickets must be upgraded within 13 days of activation. When you buy a 2-3 day pass with the Resident Discount, the tickets are active from January 6th - June 6th, so a resident could use the same 3 day ticket for a visit in February, one day in March and another in May if they choose...as long as the last day is completed by June 6th. Your friend should have no problem using it to upgrade as long as it is completed by June 6th..the ticket is upgradeable.

I believe they can, but I also think that the 2nd day on the ticket has to be used within 14 days of the first day, so you would have to make sure it lines up with their purchase plans.

I think if you upgrade a multiday pass to AP the expiration date of the AP is based on the first day the original pass was used. So waiting until June you might get a 9-month AP.

Agreed, although it sounded like the OP's friends would do it soon. They just have longer than the 14 days on most passes.

Thanks everyone! Yes, if my friends do get APs, they will only be at most 2 weeks after the first visit, hoping by end of February- looks like they have plenty of time. We know that DD's BFF's pass would "start" on the first day of use, we are ok with that! Looks like I'll get the 2- day 1 park pass for her if they are wanting to upgrade!

Thanks for helping me clarify that! We've never upgraded to APs, we just purchase them when ready :goodvibes

Can you buy her an anual pass and after the initial down payment and the imediate first payment, call Disney and change the payment card on her account to her parents? Then the next payment will be a month later in their comfort zone.
I have changed payment cards before but I'm not sure if you can change it to someone else. I guess I'm assuming you live SoCal and can buy with a payment plan.
