Hey all.

I have no idea if this has ever been discussed before, although I assume so.....but.....has anyone ever had the experience of calling to reserve a room in either a value or moderate and then being offered an upgrade for not a lot more to another resort? This happened to me once in the late 90''s, but never since.

Thanks!

we were booked at our fav resort POR and we got a call saying that they were redoing them and did we mind moving for the same price to SSR ( this was back in 2007 I think ) . I told them I would think about it and call back the next day .

We checked into SSR and started kinda liking it from the second they dropped us off : ) Room was ready at 8:30 am when we rolled in and we got the very last building before the walk way to DTD .:thumbsup2

We bought DVC by the next day LOL

Disney has gotten pretty savvy the last few years; by doing discounts for certain periods of time, bouncebacks, Free dining, and creating more booking categories in the moderates based on requests.

People are booking what they want and discounts seem to be sufficient, because they are still filling their resorts. There are very few downtimes anymore to offer upgrades.

As PP posted, not too long back POR went through a refurbishment and they did ask some people to move to a deluxe, but it was because Disney went over their construction schedule of the RR's. It is very rare for them to underestimate the times they are going to be able begin booking after a refurbishment or a new resort opening.

I have been offered what Disney calls "Flex Offers" over the phone. While talking to a CM, they have offered me a better room or an upgraded resort at a great deal, i.e. less than a GP rate. It was still more OOP than the room I had booked, but a lot less than if I were to book it myself without Flex Offer. They said that these offers pop up on there screen from time to time.

I was going to book a room at ASMu in 2011 and found out on the phone that we could stay at POR for a few dollars more. We did and really enjoyed POR.
