UPDATED: New Discount Being Released 12-21

I thought that with the photopass site you couldn't use disney gift cards? They are not owned by Disney.
I don't know. I was only assuming they would accept the card since you can view and pay for your Photopass photos at the following locations, according to wdwinfo:

You can see and purchase prints of your photos in the Theme Parks You can also purchase Disney’s PhotoCD for $149.95 at the locations below:
• Magic Kingdom - Exposition Hall on Main Street
• Epcot - Camera Center - Future World
• Disney-MGM Studios - Cover Story on Hollywood Boulevard
• Disney’s Animal Kingdom - Garden Gate Gifts
• Downtown Disney Marketplace - Between Team Mickey and Arribas Bros.
• Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa - M. Mouse Mercantile

Resort Portrait locations also offer photo viewing and ordering.

So if the gift card can really be used anywhere in WDW where credit cards are accepted, couldn't you use it for Photopass, too:confused3

From the Photopass site:

Prices and Payment

Payment for products shall be made by credit card.

Question:
Can you book 2x 5 days at different resorts with the deal and get the following:
Ressie 1. 5 days hotel, gift card, 10 day tickets with PH
Ressie 2. 5 days hotel, gift card, 5 day tickets (not used on this trip, but keep for the future)

If so, how long would tickets bought on ressie no. 2 be good for?

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I am not getting any real savings with this. We currently have a room only with AAA discount booked at CSR for 8 nights in April for 1381.32. Add 8 day hoppers through undercover tourist for $1138.80 for a total of $2510.62. The 8 day package comes to $2459.29 once you subtract the $500 gift card and add he $133 insurance. I would only save $61.33?? What am I missing?

Not every offer is the best deal for everyone. It depends on how many days you are staying, dates, where you are staying, the number of people in your party. If you have a different discount, that one maybe better.

This is true, as it was in our case. To get the $500 GC we would have to change from 7 nights to 5 and it would have cost about an extra $1000...so for us, we would be just paying for GC...and they told us they will not double dip, as we got the buy 4 nights get 3 free.

If you have to pay extra to get the GC than it seems as though that is not the deal for you. Good Luck...hopefully new deals will come out soon.

By the way, I had to laugh when I told the gentleman at Disney that I saw this on the dis boards....he said " Ohhh the wonderful dis boards"....:rotfl2: Guess you all here know your stuff, even more than those that work at disney!!!

True statement for us. DH and I did the math today (took a while :upsidedow) and found that to switch our ressie from the 4/3 would actually cost us $400. We have 2 rooms at CSR, 7 day hoppers, no dining. The 4/3 savings on the rooms is really a good deal, about a 43% discount off room rack rate!

As frustrating as it can be to try and run all the numbers it really is a good idea. Everyone's situations are a bit different. I'm glad to hear the GC is good for dining, that will be helpful to folks who don't have a better discount! :goodvibes

I like your thinking!

Those tickets will be good for 14 days after they are first used. So if you don't use them for the first time until next year... then they are good until 14 days from next year. I have many tickets just like this....

If you plan to do this, I suggest getting the 5 day passes removed from the room keys on the second batch (and put them on to paper park passes) as if you were to mistakenly swipe the new room key into a turnstile, your 14 days will begin then. You can have these tickets removed from the keys at any ticket window at any of the parks. Do it on Day 6 to avoid a problem.

Does anyone know if the card can be used to add the water parks and more option to tickets after checking in? I thought that I have read you can add that later unlike dining.
Changed our existing Pop reservation 5/22-5/28 this morning to add the GC. Not great compared to the 4/3 + GC in March '09, but I will take what I can get!

Last year, while the offer was a little different, the giftcard sounds the same. We were able to upgrade one of the 1 day passes (only had to prebuy a 1 day per person last year) and use one of the free $500 giftcards to upgrade to an AP (also we were allowed to use the 10% off Passalong card). The other $500 giftcard was used mainly for food and we combined that with the Tables in Wonderland card as well for 20% off!! It really was a deal too good to pass up (PIN last year for a $500 per room any hotel as long as you stayed 5 nights.)

I know that the gift card cannot be used for the DDP or any package components, but does anyone know if it can it be used to purchase Disney Quest tixs and upgrade to park hopper tickets once we get to the parks?

See above post from our experience last year.

You might be able to use it at the parks, but I'm pretty sure you can't use it on the photopass site, as it isn't owned by Disney.

just wanted to say thank you for posting this! i would never have known about it otherwise. i added one more night to my pop century april package, and will get a $300 gift card at checkin! i'm realllly happy! i was going to have to stay a night in a cheapo hotel anyway, so this handled that. plus i was worried about meals on the last day at the parks, since there wouldn't be any meals left in our dining plan. now i have a hotel, more meals, and a gift card. i'm coming out $150 or so ahead, which makes me feel better. :)

Yes, this is a good deal if you have no other discounts. Have a nice trip!!

I am getting a savings of $418.33 for you.

I got this by taking $2459.29 and subtracting $500. That gave my $1959.29. I then added $133 to that and got $2092.29. I then took your current package of $2510.62 and subtracted $2092.29. This gave a savings of $418.33.

Maybe I am doing something wrong (wouldn't be surprising with four kids 2-6 years old yelling in the background,) but that is what I got.

Have you thought about a split stay? All weekend long I kept doing that math and coming up with the conclusion that this deal would cost us about $180 extra (when compared to our 40% PIN) because I was pricing the GC package with all seven days. Then I realized that I only needed to buy 5 nights to get the GC and could do the other two nights with our 40% off code. This is going to save us $300-$500 for the trip, depending on where we stay (we are getting two rooms.) We would get the most savings ($500) by staying in a mod room, as opposed to a value or deluxe room. There is a chance that we may have to move rooms, but maybe not.

Without a split stay on the GC deal, you would be paying full price for the last three nights, without any added benefit. If you can get those last three nights at a discount, that would add to your savings.

I was excited to see this deal. I am staying for 6 nights at POP in....oh about 2 weeks now!:cool1: I used the buy 5, get 2 free, but I only got one night free since we have a 6 night stay. Total savings off my package was about $110. With this deal, we had to add the $110 back onto our package price, but when we get there we get $300 to spend. We would have spent that money OOP anyhow - tips, refillable mugs, a trip to BBB, extra food and keepsakes! So between my disney visa reward card and this giftcard, I would say I need $0 spending money at Disney during our stay.

I'm very happy with this deal! I guess it's $190 swing to the good for us.

That being said, I'm wondering if the giftcard expires, and also if it can be used on anything when we get home...such as dvds or toys. (Just in case we have a balance)

I came up with the same thing, but after I reread the post I think it is worded awkwardly and they are saying that the 2459.29 is AFTER the $500 is taken off and the insurance is added on.
Personally I say $60 is $60, but not everyone sees it the same. Plus they already had a discount so of course it wouldn't be as much of a deal as it would be for someone who does not have a deal at all.

If you leave with a balance you are better than me! I use the gift card to rationalize being able to get more stuff. After all if I plan to spend a certain amount on stuff outside food then I can still spend that amount after I've used up the gift card, right? :rotfl:

While not as good as the 4/3 deal, this one is working out well for us. DD is a picky eater and on this spring's trip will be 10.. thus and adult on the DDP. I decided it would not be worth spending money on the DDP to end up scheduling a bunch of character breakfastes to be able to use the TS credits. We'll use the GC to cover our food.

Yeah, sorry if I worded it wrong, the $2459 is after I took away the $500. Total to start is $2826 plus insurance. Oh well. $60 is still a savings and will buy a few Mickey bars! I should crunch the numbers though and see what happens if I do the 5 day package and then the other 3 nights with the AAA discount. Thanks.
