Updated list of Refurbs for 2014

POTC was down the last and only other time I was there. I'm hoping April 12-15 is not considered Late Spring!

Don't 100% count on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad returning for February 1st. From what I'm hearing, it MIGHT be pushed back... AGAIN... until "Spring 2014".

What?! Where did u hear that?

It's been floating around here and there. Reports from CM's in the park saying training hasn't even begun yet and guests reporting that they never saw or heard trains running, others that have... it is speculation at this point but still something we should keep our eyes on considering what happened the last few openings Disney had planned.

Perhaps I missed the post on this one, but I heard that Nemo Subs may be closing for good??? :confused3 I watched a video posted just a few days ago and even the seagulls are gone.

I have heard something about this too. Although it wouldn't really upset me. I wasn't a fan.

No, they're not closing. It is just a lengthy refurb. It re-opens in Septemeber of this year. The seagull animatronics are removed so they can be freshend up and working their best. These are just regular attraction rehab measures. Things need to be worked on. There's no sense in leaving animatronics out in the water when they can be looked at while the attraction is closed.

One more to add to the list:

Disney California Adventure

The little mermaid - Ariel´s undersea adventure March, 20 until May, 9

There has been nothing official about this, so for now I agree it should be treated as just a rehab. That said, there have been very strong rumors (and only rumors) that they are closing for good.

I cannot imagine them closing a fairly recently opened ride that still draws in big crowds. They just spent all that money bringing the subs back to Disneyland. I doubt they are thinking about closing it down.

One of the reason it appears to draw big crowds is because the loading process is so slow and the ride capacity so limited.

Sort of like Peter Pan. Does it draw big crowds? Not really. Does it always have a long line? Yes.

And if you need any examples of rides closing down shortly after a big investment look no further than the ill-fated Rocket Rods.

I am so happy that I got to ride the Rocket Rods.
My husband, daughter, and I waited in line for 3 hours because it kept breaking down.
But it was worth it -- great ride.

Yes, but I believe the Rocket Rods shut down primarily due to the fact that a fast ride is not supposed to be built on a slow-moving ride's track supports... and it kept breaking down so they just scrapped that junker entirely. The subs rarely go 101 and Finding Nemo is still a popular franchise. Plus the ride is a renewal of a Disneyland classic. Could they close it down? Sure. After all the hype, I doubt it. Not right now.
