UPDATED: IF YOU ARE PURCHASING VGF, how many VGF points will you purchase?

My wife pushed hard for a VGF add-on. I wavered a few times over the past few days - especially when my guide Maribella called me - but in the end I held fast and we decided not to do a VGF add-on.

In terms of a resort that is convenient to the MK, I think BLT offers more than VGF. I can walk to the MK from BLT, but am limited to monorail and boat at VGF, both of which can get crowded. Many times I have seen the monorail pull into the GF with standing room, and it takes a while to get back from the MK on the monorail.

As for views, I can see the castle from my theme park view room at BLT, but won't be able to from VGF. Yes, there may be some nice lagoon view rooms at VGF, which will be nicer than the lake view rooms at BLT (maybe).

I can stay at BLT and take the monorail over to the GF to dine there, so I can't seem to come up with a compelling reason to buy there. BLT has lower per-trip point usage and lower MF.

I have a lot of points at both BLT and BWV, which (to me) gives me a great MK resort and a great Epcot/DHS resort.

I'll be among the masses of non-VGF owners looking to book at the 7-month window.

Well, this sums it up for me as well. I actually called by guide today and inquired about a BLT add-on, there's a wait list...

He sure put the effort into VGF though

There's no appeal to me for VGF. I like that BLT allows an easy walk to 1) MK or 2) a bus to anywhere at the MK bus stops. Means dinner at another resort without a car is easy. Also, with all the adds on the monorail lines (BLT, VGF and Poly at some point), I just don't think the monorail line can support the volume. There will be capacity issues (already are).

BUT - when the BLT owners want to sell so they can buy VGF, give me a call!!

so let me get this right your going to spend 4350 on 30 points plus fees. to spend 3 nights every three years on the GF when you get just rent a room for 400 to 500 every three years and most of the time you will get a discount on 25 to 30% by your case you wont spend the 4300 in the next 9 or so years on just renting a room at 400 a night......you are just drunk on the idea of owning GF....i get it i looked into it also but you can buy 30 points at BWV at 120ish a point and get 8 nights every 3 years

And here is the perfect example of not looking at the bigger picture. The longterm use you get out of a DVC purchase.

And who cares if she is drunk on the idea of GF. I think all of us are a little. I can't wait. I'm buying 60 points tomorrow. You can call me crazy or drunk too. I'm ok with it.

I really didn't have much interest, but the price is better then I was expecting.

I am thinking of maybe 75 points at VGF, which would be almost $11,000.

We love BWV and own there and BLT. I'm just wondering if I would be better off buying 100 BWV resale points and saving about 3-5 grand. and have more points.

I have a month to decide (or longer), so this will be slow and methodical.

Zero. With 200 at VB guaranteeing our beach trip and 150 at SSR guaranteeing our WDW trip, the points/night will keep us away from GF more than the price/point.

As much as I would love to buy there it's zero for us for now. Of course, I mentioned them building Polynesian DVC to DH and his eyes lit up. So I think we are going to start putting money aside to prepare for a 60 - 110 point purchase there.

Having stayed in a GF room with 5 people before & envisioning how 5 will be arranged in a studio... None. It's already tight for us to put 5 in a 1br. By the time the Poly is built, we'll probably buy 200 more points there. That will give us 100 BLT, 100 AKV, & 200 Poly. Then the fight will be who gets Poly & who gets BLT among our 3 kids.

None, I really want too, but I think it mat just be the excitement of the new resort. When I sat back and thought about it I would rather buy some BLT or wait and see what the Poly has to offer. Since i joined the DVC in 2007 I have had no problems taking 2 trips a year on SSR points, and luckily only had to stay at SSR once.

Originally we thought we would do a 100 point add on. (We have 150 at SSR & 50 at AKV)

Now that the points are on sale, DH is having 2nd thoughts! We both really wanted to add on at GFV because the GF is special to us. But he keeps saying we could just buy a resale (we need extra points in general) and we don't really need to own at the GF. Our money would go a lot further with a resale so it's hard to argue with him, but I'm trying lol ;-)

I think a 50 point add on at GFV would be perfect for us. I just need to convince DH!

Exactly this. We want to stay in every DVC resort so VGF is now on the list but it has no appeal whatsoever to me.
