Tempted to buy 50-100 but realistically i really want them to have a few nights at the end of a stay for just the two of us. As my youngest is still 9 we probably should wait 8 years or so and buy them resale. Very tempted to buy thme now though but resisting hard.

Zero! Too many points to stay there, and I couldn't imagine putting the 5 of us in a studio  I will stick with my beloved BWV and OKW.

I want 100 pts. Want to be able to go there for a week in Dec every 3 yrs. Then use my VWL pts for the other 2 yrs. Now I gotta get the hubby to agree... But he's not home from China til late on Friday :(

30 points. Enough for a guaranteed three nights in a studio or two nights in a one bedroom every three years. Not too tough on the pocketbook, yet satisfies my craving to be able to stay at the VGF. Being an owner at VGC and having trouble getting reservations during prime times even with the home advantage, I'm not taking any chances!

so let me get this right your going to spend 4350 on 30 points plus fees. to spend 3 nights every three years on the GF when you get just rent a room for 400 to 500 every three years and most of the time you will get a discount on 25 to 30% by your case you wont spend the 4300 in the next 9 or so years on just renting a room at 400 a night......you are just drunk on the idea of owning GF....i get it i looked into it also but you can buy 30 points at BWV at 120ish a point and get 8 nights every 3 years

Zero...but I will use my current points to stay there.

Wow. Leave her alone, it's her money. :confused3

DVC is a long term investment though. If 30 points gets you one room a year for 50 years... $500 rent x 50 = $25,000... Back out initial investment and maintenance fees and you're looking at an awesome return. And if you no longer have interest in the GF in a few years... Resale is an option.

At least that's how I justify an add on purchase to my DH! :)

The fallacy in this argument is the ability to rent points from a VGF member at the current price point.

Honestly, I do not think it will be easy to rent for the first year or two, especially at high DVC occupancy times, since members will be using their own points during those periods. By then, points could possibly be up for resale, which would be a better deal than renting.

Finally as wdwlover mentioned, the resort will be available for 50 years from opening, so a member could stay 16 times at the 3 year rate at $272 per stay from the initial buy-in (not including maintenance fees). Not a bad deal, IMO, especially if it provides intangibles like a founding member marker, 11 month booking window, and the perks of buying direct versus resale (or not at all).

Of course, I am assuming you meant renting DVC points from a member instead of just getting a room at the GF, since those rooms are more per night than $166, usually.
