None for us. That's the beauty of having DVC. You can stay anywhere as long as there is availability. I don't LOVE any specific resort, I really enjoy them all for different reasons, so I take the opportunity to stay at what's available whenever we go.

Point taken. If you are 20 or 30 and you have 50 years to enjoy your membership........but if you older, like we are, you may need to enjoy those points "right now!!". Besides, how many 20/30 year olds are going to be able to afford to buy this resort at this premium price? I'll bet the average VGF buyer is 45 or older.

It appears that April UY is the earliest they are selling right now and the resort still doesn't exist to occupy. Not a huge difference between February and April.

Someone, I can't remember who, explained why this is, in another thread. It's because that's when the actual douments were signed, or the resort was declared (??) as of April 1st. Which is 6 months before the opening. And they said that the other resorts that have opened, have followed suit.

Anyway, I can understand the age argument. But, timeshares can be passed onto children/grandchildren. My parents just bought with us in 2011 and they're turning 69 this year. They figured they'd just enjoy what they can while they can and then pass the usage onto us and their grandchildren.

DH and I are not buying at VGF price too high for 46 room at 11 month mark not a good idea for us. We live in Oregon airfare is so expensive if we had to change the reservation we would be shut out. We are saving our money for the Polly. We own at BLT and SSR love having dinner at Ohana for our wedding anniversary. :cool1::cool1:

Don't sweat it. I'm glad you didn't change the poll, though. ;) It's because people have to always point out how dumb they think someone else is for spending money on something they think is a waste.

No, not flawed. It's for the people who are. It's really simple. If you're not buying any, there was really no need for any of you to respond. But thanks for your input.

I don't know, but when I find out, I'm sending them all to you, cause I know how much you love them.

:thumbsup2 :lmao:

Loved all of your responses :)

We bought 65 points at VGF. We figure we'll use that contract and our 80-point BLT contract to alternate years on our winter/spring trips (our 150-point BWV contract will still be used for our longer trips for F&W). So each year we'll have two years' worth of BLT or VGF points to use.

70. Planning on going every other Dec. Can't wait. The pictures look Wonderful.

so let me get this right your going to spend 4350 on 30 points plus fees. to spend 3 nights every three years on the GF when you get just rent a room for 400 to 500 every three years and most of the time you will get a discount on 25 to 30% by your case you wont spend the 4300 in the next 9 or so years on just renting a room at 400 a night......you are just drunk on the idea of owning GF....i get it i looked into it also but you can buy 30 points at BWV at 120ish a point and get 8 nights every 3 years

Guess I'm drunk too. Nice of you to "get it". :scratchin

How very nice of your parents! We have 300 points at BCV and we will leave it to our son and any grandchildren he may have. But he has to find a wife first!

Yes! I can't thank them enough for buying with us. It definitely helps lighten the load. I'm happy I can purchase these VGF points. My mother loves that resort. She can't wait to stay there.

No, I gave it all up about seven years ago. Check my signature block.

DW also loved the look of VGF but we will wait right now since DS is entering college -(Georgia Tech) and as an out of stater, that will be about 40K+ per year. But we had planned a trip during Christmas Break when he is home, for the 1st week in January, only to find out that GT wants the kids back to school on Jan 6th. His cousins don't go back till Jan 15th at Hofstra - they get off about 4 weeks and he only gets three (I am not going to try and figure out how much per day we pay at GT considering all the time they get off) . So we will go to WDW and send him back to Atlanta directly from Disney and stay an extra day for ourselves, maybe looking at the VGF model. Such cruel parents we are.

Zero. I have more points than I need every year from my one contract at AKL. I don't need another one.

But did the OP say it was about establishing the interest in VGF or simply how many points you would buy (for those who are)?

To me it is quite obvious that the majority of people who own DVC will not add on and I am more interested in how many points those who are purchasing, are going for. Which is what I believe the OP's objective was in the first place. That does not make it a skewed poll. It makes it what it is!

The OP asked how many points people were intending to buy, not how many they were NOT intending to buy, thus making "0" an inappropriate choice on the poll.

Having said that, I still plan to buy "0" points at VGF.

I will buy 200 points in five years when a few contracts come on the resale market. That way I can hear/read about the pros and cons of the resort before I take the plunge.

Her other option is buying BWV for about $75 per point resale. That is really the way to go in this economy.

And DW just saw the pictures of VGF and was blown away. She loves BCV but this is a totally different and elegant atmosphere. She just never liked the snobs we ran into at GF but I pointed out that the DVC members adding on stay at BWV, BCV, etc... so they are not any different than the friendly people we run into now. But if it were not for colleges expenses we are facing, at $145 per point, I will wait till resale.

I can honestly say that I've never run into any snobs when staying at GF. But then I wasn't looking for any either. The last couple years we've been staying at BLT and find the same kind of people there. And believe me when I tell you that we dressed very casual when staying at GF. I could never tell who was staying there and who was just coming in to look around. We still visit every trip and the staff there is just as nice to us now as when we stayed there.

I just made a huge mistake :faint:

I just showed my wife the threads of photos of the VGF models.

She wants me to call Maribella (our guide) tomorrow and do an add on.

Let's see where this heads...

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! :lmao:

Good luck DVC Mike!
Please post all the beautiful pictures on the board when you come back ;)

DH and I were talking last night about this on the way back from meeting the in laws and I said
"What was I thinking searching for pictures of GFV?!?!?!?!? I was a lot happier when I hadn't done that."

DH just laughed at me.
All he said was "If you can figure out how we can pay for it, we can do it"

:rotfl:

I was a little surprised when you initially said you would not be buying.

I follow your discussions and I think we are a little alike. Have quite a few points, make quite a few trips/year, enjoy nice dinners, enjoy strolling the parks. And because we now visit more times without our children, we thought the VGF would suit us perfectly. So we added on last week. Although I don't know you and your wife, my bet is you would enjoy the new resort just as we are looking forward to it also.

Good luck.
