I was told by both a Guide and a CM at MS that we can use the AKV pts to book all other resorts pretty much right away...just not AKV until May 16th. I plan to use my AKV pts to book Beach Club at the 7 month mark at the end of March. I am going to call back yet again on Monday to varify this.

The man I spoke to is the one who told me to book Beach Club with my AKV pts, then call on May 16th and all I would have to go is convert the ressie over to AKV.

Yes, please let us know if you actually success in doing this. It doesn't seem to make sense to allow folks to start using AKV points to book at any other resort "right away" when owners from those resorts are unable to use their points to book at AKV -- there will be an inbalance in the system.

From what one CM at MS told me, the September 1st opening is still tenative at this point, so that is why they moved the Open for Booking date to May 16th. I think they are buying more time to make sure it will open on that projected date. But that would still go for booking with those points at other resorts as well.

They both said to use my AKV pts to book the Beach Club in March/April then call on May 17th to convert the bookiing over to AKV.

If I use my SSR pts, I will have to borrow from 08 and they both agreed, that wouldn't be the best way to go, using them, then canceling that come May 16th.

MemoryMaker, are we talking about the actual AKV points, or developer's points? The developer points need to be used within 7 months, so you would be able to use them right away. (for any DVC resort other than AKV before 9/1)

What you've been describing in your last few posts sounds perfectly reasonable to me. You are booking a stay for October and want to use AKV points for that stay. AKV opens in September so AKV points should be valid for use for stays starting in September or later.

The 7-month window for your stay opens in March, so at that time you would call MS to make the reservation for Oct at BCV using AKV points. Then on May 16th, call back to see if you can book AKV for your dates and if so, cancel the BCV reservation and use the AKV points at AKV instead.

It makes sense to me!

Thanks Lisa! I hope that they were right. If they weren't, my options are to just sit and wait until May 16th and hope we get into AKV for that trip. If I can't get it, then I end up most likely staying at SSR or OKW, don't want to do that.

Correct, once they are borrowed they can not be returned. You must use them in your 2007 use year if you took them from 2008 UY

You are correct -- if you borrow points for a trip, then cancel that trip, the borrowed points cannot be put back in their original UY. So you want to avoid borrowing points if there is a good chance you won't be using them afterall.

I think you will be OK with what you want to do. You'll know for sure one way or the other when you call in March to start booking your Oct trip. And in between now and then, there will be other people on these boards pondering the same thing so there will probably be more discussion on this topic as AKV owners start to think about what they want to do with their first set of AKV points.

Since you don't own at AKV, you will have to wait until June 6th to book, using your SSR or BCV pts.

Ok, thank you. I must have read the information wrong. I assume there will be a lot of people trying to get a reservation for the fall on June 6th, any ideas on how crazy it will all be?

Crazy doesn't even begin to describe it I am sure. I plan to make sure all my phones are fully charged, as I am sure I will be on hold for a very long time the morning of May 16th!

That sounds right then ... I understood that you wanted to book in May ... so I was thinking you wanted your ressie for May. What you are describing sounds perfectly doable. You can make the ressie at T-Minus 7 Months for October-November using your AKV points (for non-AKV). If Ressie's for AKV were open now, you could book that now using the 11-month for AKV window ... but ... alas ... it seems to be up in their air as to when AKV Members will be allowed to begin booking AKV.

That said, I don't think there have been more than 150x150+ pt purchases yet ... especially with guides being reportedly out, etc.

I wonder if we'll be able to tell once we get our paper work and know what unit number we belong to, etc. Hmmm ... I hope I made the cut!

If the reported limited number of points being sold is a certainty, than I think it's safe to assume we all made the cut!

PLEASE don't think I am questioning that you are wrong. You know what you were told. I am questioning if you were given correct info. It is just confusing me, because as of tomorrow, technically, I don't think I officially own AKV points. We have not closed. I did not think we could do anything with our points until the we closed.

Has it occurred to anyone else that allowing AKV owners to book AKV starting on May 16 and all other DVC members to book starting on June 6 violates the minimum home resort booking period of one month? -- Suzanne
