UPDATED 12/07:If you are doing the WDW Marathon or Half in 2007, sign in here...

Hello Everyone...I'm outta of mind :) I"m going to do the Goofy :) For some strange reason I have a problem with challenging myself as if I have nothing else to do with my time ;)

kareneast (Karen) & DS (Sean) are now officially signed up for the 1/2 marathon. We will be staying at the Poly. DS has agreed to go at my pace, so we will be mostly walking with hopefully some running. We are beginners. This will be our first event except for a local 5k in September.

Thank you Judy for putting this list together!!! :woohoo:

We haven't officailly registered yet but DH and I (Jessi) are running the 1/2 in 2007. :cheer2: Other then a couple 5K's and 10K's we will be doing over the next couple months, this will be our first big race!! We hope to stay at BCV, Jan 5th-8th...but nothing is actually in stone yet...

:) Happy Training everyone!! :)

New poster here... I will be running the Minnie 15K in two weeks and then the DisneyLand Half marathon in September. So far I have done the DIsney marathon in 2000 and the Disney Half in 1999, 2002, and 2005. :yay:

I don't know if people are familiar with the Disney Dead Runners group. They are an internet based group of runners who do Disney every year. ALL are welcomed!! Let me know if you are interested in learning more about how to join the list serv.

Hi All!

I am still undecided.....the beginning of the year is a very busy time for me at work (I am a budget analyst) and last year my boss covered for me so that I could do the half in WDW. I had an absolute blast.

Now I am toying with the idea of the full this time around (I have a serious case of medal envy) but hesitate to ask my boss for the same time off whether it is for the half or the full.

My indecision is driving me nuts! On one hand just asking for time off at such a busy time might be a bit much, but on the other hand it was such an awesome experience. So, if I do get the time off should it be the half or the full?? I am a walker, so walking 26.2 miles in the required time seems so huge. But on the other, other hand (gee how many hands do I get?) I met several people wearing Mickey medals last January who were walkers. In fact I was cheering full walkers outside the AK at about 10:30AM on Sunday and they all looked like they were going to go the distance.

Like I said, I am driving myself nuts! But I guess in a good way. I am going to complete four half-marathons in four states this year (WDW-FL, Capital City Classic -OH, Chicago Classic - IL, and Inaugural DL - CA). Maybe I SHOULD do the full in Jan.

Now I just have to talk to my boss......

Hi everyone! I am running the full marathon, my 1st marathon ever! I am very nervous! I'm having so much fun reading these boards. You have no idea how great it is to see so many people excited to run at Disney! I am a Public Health grad student and Disney fanatic, so this just makes me so happy :) I am not sure where I will be staying yet though.

I cannot wait to run with you all!

I AM INCREDIBLY GOOFY!!! :goofy:

I am now officially signed up for my SECOND GOOFY challenge    . Apparently just once is not Goofy enough, huh?

We are undecided about where to stay, but it will probably be a moderate.

Feel free to ask any questions about the Goofy, and I will try to answer them as best as I can remember.

Paul

has anyone else been having trouble accessing the marathon info page on disney's website?

Well, it's official for me!
I signed up yesterday for the Half!
This will be my first Half, although I've participated in a handful of 5K's.
I will definately be walking!

DH, DS, and I will be staying at AKL.

Hi Kris and welcome to the Disboards. I would definitely like to know more about the Diseny Dead Runners. How do I find the web site?

Paul, I signed up for the Goofy for 2007 - wife asked last night what is this $198 charge for :rolleyes1 - and I have one very simple question for you vets: What the h@#$ possessed me to do this to myself? Seriously, did you walk, run, or combo the Goofy in January? Also any training advice is always welcome? I hope to complete the combo in under 6 hours (2 for the half and 4 for the full).

To everyone who has committed, great job and welcome aboard. To all of you sitting on the fence here is a bit of a push to get you over to the sign-up table. Now it is up to you to complete the forms and start your training. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD TRAINING TO ALL!

Add 2 more to the full marathon.

Last year my wife participated in the "Training to End Stroke" program as a walker. Even though she had the endurance to complete the race, she didn't have the speed and an unscheduled early "pit stop" put her behind minimum pace and she got pulled at the 5 mile point. She was incredibly dissapointed and vowed that "next year" she would complete the race.

Because of her hectic work schedule and unbearable heat during daylight hours she did a lot of her walking late at night. I voluntereed to accompany her. I enjoyed the long walks and eventually started running on my own in addition to walking with her and decided I would try my first marathon also. I finished with a net time of 5:30:25 and count it as one of the most memorable accomplishments of my life. I can't wait to do it again.

My wife is training to improve her pace and I plan on staying at her side and crossing the finish line next to her.

Last year my wife stayed at the Beach Club Resort with her training group and I stayed in the motorhome at fort Wilderness. We have reservations for Fort Wilderness for 2007.

Hey everyone -

I finally updated this list. Wow! There are a lot of us going! :dumbo:

Now I'm questioning my resort choice. Maybe we should have stayed at OKW.... :confused3

OK wait. No I didn't. Shoot. Stoopid computer! I missed the whole last page. OK I'll have to do that tomorrow.

Just ignore me for today.

Man, that's a tough one...to ask the boss or not??? I would be afraid to ask, but if the answer is no, then you can always shoot for 2008. I'm signing up for the full (did the half in 06) and I'm a walker. I would say go for it and see what the boss says. :yay:

Hey Neighbors! :wave2:

Do y'all belong to any of the local running groups?

And for anyone that's signed up for the WDW half/full/Goofy, come join us on the weekly walking/running club threads. Most of us will be at WDW in 2007, though some are also training for DL half.

Chimera,

Thanks for the welcome.

No, we currently do not belong to any of the local clubs, but I have participated in a couple of local events:

Harvest Hustle 5k
Max Bayne 1/2 Marathon
ODA Thunder 10k

Saturday (13th) my 16 year old son and I are doing the 10k Muddy Buddy race at Disney's Wide World of Sports and on the 21st we're going to do another one in Sarasota.

Well, it is official...after having so much fun at the MINNIE, I am going to attempt to do the 1/2 marathon. I am so excited!!!! Time to staret training again!!! :thumbsup2

ETA: Name: Michelle...beginner...second event...walking/running(as much as I can) Not sure where I am staying yet because I cannot get prices on WDW.com past Dec 31st. Where did you all book from??? TIA

I got the time off in January  I am definitely coming to WDW, now I just have to decide if it is for the half or the full. I have a really bad case of medal envy, and that Mickey looks fabulous. It's just that I am a walker and the thought of walking a full is a little (make that a lot) intimidating. I want to decide soon because the indecision is driving me

I am looking forward to meeting you all!

:cool1:

I've just registered for the FULL, walking all the way. While I am not Goofy, I think I must be DOPEY. Yikes, what am I thinking?!?

No, really I am very excited :Pinkbounc and maybe just a little

So, how do I get the official 2007 marathon logo in my siggie? (I can't remember how I got the other stuff, so be pretty specific in your directions)

Thanks!

Oh, and I am almost positive I will be staying at POP.
