Chimera,
We had a blast.
The race at Disney had 463 Teams entered. We placed 143rd overall and 26th out of 47 for our Division. I look forward to competing in this one again next year.
The race was 6.5 miles and consisted of 5 legs. At the beginning, one team member starts on the bicycle and the other member starts running 1 minute later. At the end of the first leg is an obstacle. The bicycler drops the bike, completes the obstacle and takes off running on the second leg. The runner completes the obstacle and finds the bike and pedals to the second leg to the next obstacle where the roles are once again switched. At the end, you have to wait for your buddy and together you have to crawl through a mud pit on your belly, then a short sprint to the finish.
The event was typical Disney fun, well done and suitable for a wide range of athletic ability.
The Sarasota Muddy buddy was a completely different event. The course was 6 miles, but switching between biking and running could be done at any point on the course. The course involved several ditch/canal crossings of knee deep water and was physically more demanding. There were somewhere near 24 teams competing and we finished 8th out of 12 in our division.
I'll do this one again too.
