UPDATED 12/07:If you are doing the WDW Marathon or Half in 2007, sign in here...

I think I'll be doing the full (and possibly Goofy) in 2007. Did Goofy in 2006, but don't think they "officially" counted it, since my net time was about 4 minutes over the limit. So I want the official marathon time .

Will stay "home" at SSR.

ETA: I hope to run/walk the full (more run than walk). That was my plan in 2006, but then I started with shin splints in the 1/2 and couldn't do much running in the full, so I walked.

This will be my 2nd marathon. I'm also doing the DL 1/2 in Sept.

Hi, I'm Bill and have signed up for the Goofy next year. I did the full in 2006 and will do Disneyland in Sept as well as other shorter races at Disney. I generally just lurk and read the training thread most of the time to keep up with people and their progress. DW (crzy4pooh) generally posts what I am up to and how I am doing. She hasn't decided what she is doing for WDW 2007 yet.

I tend not to post on the training thread because I found out I upset a person on there. I'm happy to answer questions from time to time as I am able and will try to post more regularly later to the training thread if circumstances allow.

I would LOVE to do the 1/2 in 2007! I have never done anything like that. I have just recently gotten back into exercise, and I am really enjoying it. DH and I have been walking a lot (I would have to WALK most, if not all, of it). I always keep our time (gotta love those exercise challenge minutes!), and I tell him that we've got to get it to "marathon time"!

My other incentive is that my brother & father (both exercise fanatics) are convinced that I CANNOT do this! I was ALWAYS the child who did what she was told not to do! :lmao:

When do you have to register? I know some of you have registered already? Is it too late??

Wish I Lived in Fl(Felicia) POFQ Full Walking Beginner/4th event ever.

I signed up for the 2006 Half to get motivated and it worked. I finished! It was my first athletic attempt in 30 years. I wouldn't believe i did it but have the medal to prove it.
Signed up for Minnie next month and Disneyland half in Sept also.

Count me in too! I will be doing the Goofy Challenge :thumbsup2 .

This month I will be doing a 5 mile walk, In May I will be doing a 5k (and may be doing a 10k as well - same month), in October I will be doing the Hartford 1/2 Marathon.

While in Disney I will be staying at the POFQ.

well i'm official too -- my Mom (AlreadyexcitedGrammy) and I have both registered for the 2007 1/2 marathon so count us in! we are both walkers so for those who mentioned they would be walking we will be right with you! along with TammyNC and her DH (already registered) and annieT. we'll shoot for a 14:30 - 15 min mile, as of now. we'll be at the Swan unless there are awesome codes we may switch to WL

reading everyone's goals is really motivating -- i just did my 3rd 1/2 marathon this weekend and it really is addictive isn't it -- i have to agree with tigerlily in that it's all about the jewelry :) and a trip to WDW isn't a bad incentive either :)

Hey guys!

Steve here. I'm going to be doing Goofy in '07. I finally just registered today. This will be my 2nd marathon--first one was Disney last year. My goal is simply to finish, but my crazy goal (you know, that little obnoxious one that rests in the back of your mind while you keep telling yourself that you should really only have one goal? :) ) is to finish the full in under 4:30. I finished the full in 4:44 this year, but I also didn't run a half marathon the day before, so we'll see how this all works out.

In the meantime, I have a half marathon in May (Cincinnati Flying Pig) and several 5K and 10K races scattered throughout spring, summer and fall. I might try to throw in another half marathon sometime early fall.

My DW (Krista--aladdinsgirl) and I are staying at the BWV for the event and staying through the next week. Krista is also running that weekend, but I'll let her post her plans separately since she posts a lot more than I do and she is much more eloquent than I with her words. :)

2005- my niece and I ran the full, my DH ran the half.

2006- my niece and I trained for the full. The week before the marathon my DH got very ill, required hospitalization. MD was going to discharge him Sat AM so I could make it to the EXPO and run the marathon on Sunday. Pulmonary MD said "NO DISCHARGE...." so, no race for us (in the end this was for the best, I was in no condition to run a marathon) My DH ended up having serious life threatening complications the next week and although I was disappointed when I couldn't run the marathon after all the training, I soon realized how selfish I had been.....

2007- my DH, niece and I have all committed ourselves to run GOOFY! :rotfl2: My DH is just recovered enough to start his maintenance training. I am going to run the CM half marathon in Nashville on April 29th. The past 2 years I have been fortunate to run an 18 mile organized race in Sunny Hills FL--( a bit north of Panama City). It is a great training run for the DW Marathon if anyone lives close enough to participate. Small race with a great hilly course--it will be on Nov 18th this year. We will train w/ Hal Higdons marathon plan for novices and add mileage the day prior to our long runs in attempt to finish GOOFY.

Don't know where we will stay, either GF-CR or BWI. Tend to think the monorail might be the way to go having to deal w/ the early AM wake up call two days in a row!!! Having a hard time not going back to BWI. Such decisions. We plan on arriving on Friday Jan 5th and depart Wed Jan 10th.

Hi - My name is Darcey. Both my DH (Andrew) and I are signed up for the Half. We will be at the back of the pack walking (hopefully a little running, too!) Our goal is first to not get swept, and then to finish. We are beginners. We have done some local races (5K, 7miles, 10K) but this will certainly be the longest and the toughest race we will complete. If everything goes well, we will probably sign up for the Full in 2008, but we'll see, that's a long time away!!

We are planning on staying at Allstar Movies from the 4th though the 8th. However, we may upgrade to the French Quarter. The kids are staying home this trip with family, so this is a Mom and Dad only trip! We can't wait!!

Hey Darcy! SOUnds like you'll be just fine with your experience. It still quite a ways out. If you need advice/encouragement or want to advise/encourage others, please come join us on the Walking/Running club threads!!

This invite goes fro anyone who's not already there!

If you are doing the Half, Marathon or Goofy in 2007, could you please post the particulars (You don't HAVE to tell us everything. Don't feel obligated.) such as where you are staying, what event you are doing, are you walking or running and what your experience level is. I'll keep everyone's info on this page for reference.

I'm really really looking forward to meeting everyone there!

I can't believe I just found this thread!! I haven't signed up yet, but I'm doing the full marathon (gulp!). This will be my first full marathon, but I did the Disney half in 2006 and I'm running the Flying Pig half on May 7 and I'll probably do a half in the fall if Stephen (DH--skfulkers)and I can find one close to where we live.

Good luck training everyone! We have just over 9 months until the big dance!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

ETA: It's official. I just signed up to run the full!!

At my 40th birthday party I was challenged to do something big for the year. So I registered this week for my first marathon - WDW 2007. I am currently training for my 3rd Half Marathon (May 6 - Indy Mini). I do a run/walk. My goals for all events are the same: train properly, make it to the start line healthy and finish the race. Stayin' at POP Century.

Taz4disney, congratulations on signing up for your first marathon and welcome. Hope your training goes well! :thumbsup2

Hi, my name is Heather. I am signed up for the marathon, and DH is going for the Goofy medal. This will be my 1st marathon, but I have finished the past 2 WDW 1/2 marathons. I will be walk/running.

Scott here

I'll be run/walking the Half and it will be my first marathon event ever. I'm running a 5k this weekend (and a few more over the course of the next few months) and will be in the Peachtree Road Race 10k on July 4th.

Haven't made hotel plans yet but most likely will be at a value resort (what can I say, I love Pop!)

I think we should get some shirts made up!

I will be doing the Half--it will be my 2nd Half. I am hoping to run most of it, unlike the last one where I walked to whole thing. My aunt called this week and it looks like she will be doing it too. My DH says he is, I need to get him signed up. I have no idea where I am staying yet????
