Okay, some of you may remember me posting about our CR stay as WDW first timers. We arrived at noon and didn't get our room until 4 pm (live and learn here), our room was dusty and towels stained with red spots.

Update-I called our first day there to get a cleaning bag to send laundry because there wasn't one. On day three I had to call again because we still didn't have a laundry bag. Once I had the bag, on day three I called the laundry service to pick up the bag at 8:30 pm. At 2 pm the next day, bag was still sitting there. :confused3

-each day we left the room at 8 am and returned between 2 and 3 pm to rest. Never once was our room cleaned. We always had clean towels but, beds never made, new glassware put in room, etc.

I did complain to the manager about these things and he gave us a night off of our stay which was very nice and while at dinner that night the room was cleaned very, very well-even chocolates on the turned down beds.

Then, on day four our room was overlooked by housekeeping once again. I just didn't bother after this. I really don't know what the problem was....it was the most bizarre thing. I can't help but, wonder if housekeeping would get its act together if the check in time might run more smoothly for everyone.

At this point we will either be buying DVC so we can stay at BLT or trying GF next time...I don't think we'll call CR home.

Thanks for the update.

Also one thing you should know about Bay Lake Tower is that check-in, transportation options, restaurant options, stores, Valet Parking, Bell Services and etc is all done at the Contemporary. So even though you won't want to stay there anymore after what just happened, you still need to rely on them for all those type of things when staying at Bay Lake Tower.

Thanks CR4L....I did know that. That may make the decision for GF that much easier. We have a year to decide what we're going to do. I wanted to love CR so badly and the resort itself was fine. Housekeeping was just so bad it, unfortunately, tainted everything else which was excellent.

Thanks for the heads up.

It sounds like housekeeping is very important to you. So I wanted to remind you that if you stay anywhere on DVC points, you get towel & trash service only on day 4 and a full housekeeping on day 8 of a stay. Is this something you can live with?

Our first stay at the poly on several days our room was not cleaned until after 3pm. It was little annoying, but did not stop of us from staying there again. On our last two stays at poly our room was always done by noon. I wonder if it was a staffing issue. In my profession I now that being short staffed can lead to all kinds of problems with customer service. Sometimes you will get a lot of people quitting at one time or mass sick calls if some virus is going around. I hope this does not keep you from staying at Disney again. I have stayed at 5 deluxe resorts, and I don't think this is the norm.

Thanks snykymom, that was a question that I had when we really start thinking about purchasing. With three very young children, wash is a better part of my day, unfortunately.

With a washer/dryer wash may not be that much of an issue but, I'm glad to know housekeeping only shows up on day 8. If we did purchase DVC, we would have to save points for two years for what we would want/need for 4 adults and 3 children. My parents would go with us w/ three small kiddos and we want them to be happy traveling with us and helping us out.

We would never want to stay more than about five days at WDW so, that means no housekeeping-bummer. We are attracted to the program because of the stays in San Francisco and Hawaii as well as WDW...I'm glad we have awhile to think about it. Again, thank you for the information on the cleaning situation.

I'm sorry the OP had such issues with mousekeeping. I had similar problems at the Beach Club back in 2004. When I checked in, there was a huge, industrial size bag of garbage just sitting in the middle of the floor (not closed either) and it was very obvious the room hadn't been vacuumed because there were M&M type candies scattered on the floor. When I called, they came to get the bag of trash, but those candies were still on the floor when we left 10 days later (yes, I could have picked them up myself, but I shouldn't have to, and I figured when the second mousekeeper did the room, they would be taken care of - I was wrong). However, this experience did not put me off of the Beach Club altogether since I'd been there before without problems, and I have had several great (and spotlessly clean) stays there since.

So it can happen at any resort - I'm just sorry you had to experience it.
