UPDATE Michael Jackson rushed to the hospital (He Has Died)

Folks better buckle up....larry king just basically said anyone who had settled with MJ legally can probably now tell their stories...

as he put it..the tabloids will be full of these stories next week....

And who is now the happiest person in the world ..... Jon Goesslin!

And who is the unhappiest person in the world .... Kate Goesslin! :rotfl:

I didn't realize everyone had to share the same opinions when I opened the thread. In fact, this being a family friend board I am very surprised by the reactions here.
We don't but you are not being respectful. If you want to make a thread talking about his controversies, go ahead. Your negative outlook in not appropriate for this thread.

I am disappointed that people are being so negative to his death. He made many mistakes and was a mental basket case, but he was one of America's icons. He changed the music industry forever. Despite his crazy during the last several years, his life was filled with triumphs and much success. THAT is what we should be remembering right now.

I feel for his children -- not his wacky family who drove him be a nut and I certainly hope **ll freezes over before any of them get their hands on his kids.

He comes from a large family, there must be a normal brother or two wit a family of his own who could take the children.
(Are we allowed to discuss the children?)

We've all seen the news, and share our own opinions on the matter, but this isn't the time for it.

Exactly, opinions. Everyone has an opinion on it. One is right and one is wrong? I realize its a touchy subject, I realize there are people who are very upset and sad but there are people who feel differently.

If this were OJ (no Im not comparing murder) who was also acquitted, would you expect people to only express their sadness and compassion? This touches people differently and people should be able to express themselves.

I feel great sadness and very conflicted, I dont think its for his death, but because of what could have been and what I think was a waste of musical genius who was betrayed by those that supposedly cared about him. What he became is a shame, and its very sad for me.

I am one that can't say as I am sorry. He has done some terrible things that people shouldn't get away with and his persona allowed him to get away with it. He was a talented person and not so bad in the early years, but he sure grew up to be a bad person.

And, you know this to be a fact, how? He was never convicted of anything. I'm much more inclined to believe that those people were trying to get money from Michael. Don't be so quick to judge a book by its cover. Just because he looked odd did not mean he was a bad person.

Just saw on tv that Michael told his lawyer in January that in his will he wanted to give Paul McCartney back his half of the Beatles songbook that Michael owned. Michael had sold the other half to Sony so i hope this is true and that Sir Paul gets back all of the music he wrote with John Lennon.

I just saw that picture online too. Can't believe they published that. I remember when John Lennon died and they had a picture of him in the morgue in the paper. I was so upset. People act like ghouls at times like these.

I'm shocked ET would publish that, I would expect it from the National Enquirer.

And I think it's horrible to bring this to a thread where people are obviously upset and in shock at the loss of a music legend.

We've all seen the news, and share our own opinions on the matter, but this isn't the time for it.
I agree!

I've never believed anything the tabloids have to say and don't plan on believing it now.

The DIS is a place of topics beaten to death. I'm sure there is room on the community board for the death thread, the MJ was a child molesting creep thread, the MJ was my hero thread, and more! No need to fight about it on just one thread. This is such a big event I can't imagine there being less than 5 which is about what Jon & Kate had.

Fox is showing You Are Not Alone.......

It is so sad......:( We are fortunate his music will stay with us even though we are now far apart....:(

Such a tragic figure and soooooooo talented, almost more talented than anyone should be....

Live Pictures from LA right now showing mobs of people around the hospital...

I am overwhelmed

don't have to... because the norm is to be respectful when one dies.. :) and to mourn so take hate elsewhere please.. but I can't stop it though.... some people will dance... :(

I don't see anyone (ok maybe 1 person) "dancing" in this thread.

No one is hating. Telling the truth about his life isn't hating even if it is negative. He WAS accused of molestation and tried for it. Guilty or not, it is part of his life and now part of his death.

I don't hate MJ. I don't know the guy.

He was a great artist in his day but I also think he lead a very messed up life. That doesn't make me a "hater." It is just my opinion.

UMMMMM no one has to like him.... people do have to respect the dead... I was ALWAYS TAUGHT ( my spelling does suck lol)... I guess we weren't all taught that. He isn't in the ground yet and some are being disrespectfull. I say lets close this thread and open up another where people can be nice and say our goodbyes and another where people can say how much they think he was evil...

I couldn't agree with you more Peg! Its just so shocking and I am watching both CNN and his videos on MTV and some I haven't seen in years. His talent can't be matched. I am curious of what other celebrities will be saying. I know Justin Timberlake said he was his idol. I am also curious if Madonna will say anything as well.

I hope so. Right now, that is where my thought are. He seemed to be all that they had. I hope they had someone else. It seems so sad that they really have nothing right now.

I wonder if that will truly be possible. The estate has to pay off all debts first. They may use the Beatles songbook toward proceeds, as they can probably sell it, one song at a time to any blood thirsty person who wants to make money off a Beatles tune. Every other song on a TV commercial may become a bad rendition of a Beatles tune. :headache:

And the person who took it is probably sitting on easy street right now. I hate these celeb. pictures but someone is paying and someone is looking. Didn't look at Micheal's but can guess from the responses. Who needs to see that or Britney without her make-up, I mean can't someone have a bad hair day and not make it on the cover of some trash mag? What is this world coming to?

Where should I post? I am saddened by his death, love his music, believe he did molest children, and don't think he was evil.

I think John Mayer tweeted something that sums up how I feel:

"I think we'll mourn his loss as well as the loss of ourselves as children listening to Thriller on the record player."

Not a fan of the man in his later life, but with his passing, I'm mourning a piece of my childhood.

Priscilla Presley is speaking out on this afternoon's shocking death of Michael Jackson.

"I'm in shock, as I know everyone must be. What a tragic loss. My heartfelt thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time," the pop star's former mother-in-law tells ET.

One can only hope this is true.

I'm pretty neutral on the molestation. I think he was a disturbed individual.

BUT I will say that I think him buying the catalog out from under Paul when he knew Paul was bidding on it was LOW. They were friends.
